Hardbacks are /heavy/, and I don't much like the idea of a thing that is only decorative. I need to bribe someone with tools and access to suitable materials, and I don't know anyone local to me. >.< So, the plan has remained in theoretical stage. To yoink this back on topic ... if you were gonna do it with the Bones version (and I can't think why not), you'd probably have the same problem with weight. On the other hand, you'd be way less afraid to ruin them, because.. .well, they're cheap, and they're easy to replace. ^^;

I have used them for dragon bases in the past and they look great. Cheap, heavy, and nice clean edges. My wife also used to work for a granite countertop company. They had 2 and 3 inch square samples that are gorgeous. They lack the cool natural rock texture of the the slate but might be even better for bookends. You might able find them at the home store as well. Certainly at a countertop showroom.

This is Doug Cohen’s Model, not mine: Do you see the wires in the wings on this Nieuport? That stuff might work. That figure is about 65mm & I think the scale is maybe 1/32nd? But I bet “thread” for sail cloth is way thicker than for garments. Whan I did biplane models some time in the murky past, I used stretched sprue to make the wires. This was made from a length of offcut HIPS sprue, from the "frame" the parts of the model came on that usually gets thrown away. To make it I used a lighter on the middle of the length of sprue for a few seconds, until the sprue bent under it's own weight. Then I held each end and pulled apart. The melted part of the sprue would stretch to thin, thin threads. By waiting a bit and/or pulling slower you can make different thicknesses. The stretched sprue retains alot of stiffness which makes it an excellent material for model biplane wires, ship rigging and I would assume, sailmakers or seamstress' sewing threads. To be done outdoors or in a well-ventilated area as burning polystyrene probably has toxic fumes. It certainly smells bad.

And the detail on her sleeve ! And a thumb stall for driving the sailmakers needle! That's just superb detailing. I wonder if anybody will try to add a thread to the sail maker. I have seen a product that might be thin enough. I finally remembered what the stuff is called. “EZ line” Here is another model ^ aircraft that was rigged with it. (All those criss-crossing wires between the wings.) It is an elastic polymer thread and I am having no luck finding a link about it that is not a commerce link. It comes on a spool: It is from a tiny model Rail Roading Company out of Massachusetts. Their original use (stated on the label) was to simulate model RR layout electric transmission wires (which are between 1-2 inches thick at 1:1 scale). But that is the stuff to use if anyone wanted to add a real thread to the sailmaker: I dug into it a bit and sailmakers twine (not thread; big, strong, heavy twine) and the needles used with it are indeed way bigger than ordinary sewing thread or needles used for clothing. So the scale and thickness of the needle in her hand is not much exaggerated (I am sure it’s final size will be dictated by the minimum needed to mold/cast successfully). Two sizes of E Z line exist: Fine .010 (0.25mm) diameter, OR Heavy .020 (0.5mm) diameter. I am thinking the fine size in either black or tan would be ideal for the sailmaker. (Also, it could be used on archers and crossbows). The Heavy grade might be just the thing for the string on the Bones V bolt-throwers. At RPG Scale 25mm is 5 feet (five foot squares on dungeon maps). 1mm is a bit more than 2 inches. 0.5mm is going to be a 1.2 inch rope (sounds perfect for ballista “strings” IMO) so the 0.25 mm will be about a 5/8ths inch line. A bit exaggerated, but that’s about as small as it could get and be seen. Edited January 5, 2020 by TGP 6

The Auld Grump - I can't blame Megan - it was well on its way to being worn out by the time we started sharing my tee shirt drawer. It was my favorite GMing shirt. 11

Glitterwolf
The Dragon Lion is awesome! I have missed that treasure Dragon somehow...
Nunae
I've a feeling that treasure dragon is going to be one of those items that will be sold out rather quickly as soon as it's released to retail. It's awesome, it's smaller (which a lot of people asked for) but it's also in an expansion with stuff that has already been figure of the month or is otherwise not super useful for a person that has been collecting for a few years. I keep going back and forth with the Dungeon Dwellers. It's an expansion I would have been all over last Kickstarter (which was my first) and I still like a lot of figures in it.
ksbsnowowl
Sorry it took me so long to get around to getting screenshots from last week. Since several things were already included in yesterday's update, I focused on getting shots with Sir Forscale, and got several shots of the Charnel Pit of the Ghoul Queen. The Dragon-Lion with Sir Forscale: The Hippogriff from the Greek Odyssey expansion: The mounted wraiths: Charnel Pit of the Ghoul Queen. Note the bones can be removed from the pit; the bottom appears to be flat, so you could paint it like water, or whatever. Lastly, a shot of the spell wall sections with Sir Forscale. I do not own Garrick the Bold, so I don't know how tall he is, but the Wall of Stone appears to be approximately the same height and width as the raised tip of his sword. I'm guessing it's probably 2 inches, but cannot confirm. 7

I love the Dungeon Dwellers expansion! Now, I don't have a massive collection of minis as a new painter, so that may be a part of it. It seems like a great "starter set" and it has some sculpts with great character. Can't wait to dig into it! And every time they put out a new print (like the treasure dragon) I get more excited.
