Are they still planning on a translucent version of the ship?

By the sounds of it, there will be three.  One solid, one green translucent, and one glow in the dark, although they're waiting on samples to make sure the effect actually pops properly

I wonder if they’ll be making all 4 figureheads in all 3 versions.

I hope that if they don't they make them all translucent. I can make an uncolored translucent into any color I want, but I can't do the same with green, and I can't make opaque gray translucent at all.

I know it costs marginally more, but I feel like, if all Bones minis would just be made in translucent clear plastic, we could do whatever we wanted with any of them. It might be an overall better solution, IMHO.

He’d make a great Ranger for Shadow Deep.

I’d start asking for a metal version so I could get a hold of him early, but I seem to recall the wild folk were going to be bigger than humans. Anyone remember that?

It would make sense, given what they are obviously supposed to stand in for.  Fifth Edition Firbolgs are still Medium, but they are supposed to push the boundaries of Medium.

Wait, there's a fourth figurehead? I'm only aware of pirate lady, hippocampus and reaper.

Reaper Jon mentioned four in a comment on the most recent KS update.  I think he probably mis-typed, but he did (accidentally?) imply there were four.

Edit:  Oh, Ron mentioned in either the Thursday or Friday show that they were going to make that one figurehead-like bust that they sell into a figurehead as well.  It's much like the default one shown, but she had wings made of ship planks.  The Dark Maiden was maybe its name?

At one point on (...don’t ask me which show...) they batted around an idea for a fourth one. Do not consider this confirmed. But they talked about maybe scanning / resizing / the angel figure from the Dark Maiden ...I believe the phrase I heard was “the lady with the two swords”. Again: do not consider my remembery a confirmation.

On one of this past weeks Twitch shows Ron and Ed said they would offer the Dark Maiden as a 4th figurehead option. They didn’t comment on which version or how much would need to be resculpted to make it fit on the ship.

They also mentioned they wanted the the third option of the ship, besides the “normal” and the translucent, to be a glow in the dark version, which in my own opinion is a mistake.

I liked the earlier idea of it being done in a translucent green. Glow in the dark plastic doesn’t look very impressive under normal lighting and I find the novelty of having something glow ingame wears off pretty quickly cause playing in the dark gets tiresome quick and people want the lights back on.

It probably costs less, since you don't need to add opacifiers or tinting agents to the plastic. But @ttuckerman is right that translucents don't look good in packages. Even the slight translucency of the early model Bones figures makes it much harder to see the cast detail and makes the miniatures look like the detail is very soft. You can't really see what you have until the figure is primed.

Which probably argues against casting the figureheads in clear, but since none of the other colors would work with a clear ship, the only other option would seem to be multiple colors for the figureheads, which is more expensive.
