Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure the horse is immortal or undead, cause it's there waiting for me every update when I start obsessively checking for the update by 3 pm.

The sirens being translucent was a selling point for me. I just hope they go light on the color, so that it can have some washes and dry brushing on it without becoming opaque. I got a couple of oozes from Bones 4 and they're so dark that I wouldn't attempt to put more paint on them beyond maybe a supremely light dry brush.

something i drew many many many years ago   seems fitting

I totally agree with you in that those particular exaggerations are not very realistic in function. This was a challenging character/figure to create because I wanted her to read as feminine but als

Why not?

Most of us (I think) prime before we get to painting anyway, so it's just a matter of how carefully you prime.

I've painted a few translucents.

Those I wanted to use as ghosts worked fine.

But I still find even after priming, translucents have lost some detail when compared to the normal material.

I stay clear from translucents when I don't need them as ghosts,

I have had no issues painting translucents to be opaque, as long as I've had decent cover, and I'm glad the sirens are translucent specifically because it allows  them to blend into the water easier. I wish they weren't tinted, because I prefer translucents to be colorless so they can be tinted however I want, but I get why they are.

I really can't see the problem: translucent? Primer = no more translucent. :winkthumbs:

Still I find the translucent ones have less detail than the normal ones.

Could just be me of course, but with the ones I have I can barely make out faces, of course I use those as ghosts.

Welcome! As a fair warning, I think we all say things like, "set for life" after our first Bones Kickstarter. Doesn't stop us from backing the next one.

I've painted at least the equivalent of a full one... over my 3+ soon to be 4+

and they looks so good when your done painting them all*  , although it may just be me.

*expansion sets and extra dragons not included, cause Im still working on them.

An inspiration to us all!

The Auld Grump - we have... a couple of stuffed drawers... and paint only when we need when we are painting. (Mostly.)

I'm happy to see they've launched a 2nd KS, as I missed out on the first one.
Here's the blurb from the Kickstarter, which is live and already funded here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/292543184/wallhalla-2/description
Hey, everyone! We're Ill Gotten Games, and we're back for another round of Wallhalla, the modular, 3d printable miniature display shelves!
We're kicking this new series off with a Dangerous Dungeon theme that comes in two available styles:

Classic: (left) the original format found in Series 1, optimized for miniature display. Classic shelf units also include versions with recesses for standard round bases (20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, and 70mm).
Wall Sprawl: a new, terrain-style take that lets you build vertical dungeons and play on your wall space! (It works great as a display as well, especially if you want even more of a diorama look.)
Both of these sets are 100% compatible with one another and with any of the sets from Series 1. This campaign is for digital STL files, not finished, physical products, and you'll need access to a 3d printer to make them. All of our Wallhalla designs:
print 100% support free and are optimized for FDM machines!
assemble with durable, built-in slide-fit connectors, and don't require glue!
can be configured (and reconfigured) into whatever build suits your fancy!
      are easy to paint!

A new Kickstarter that may otherwise go under your radar.

      Very entertaining 70’s/80’s nostalgia aesthetics.

I barely received my last campaign pledge from Midlam that already it has something that caught my interest.
Sisters of the Kraken Cult. The female counterparts of the previous "Onslaught of the Cult of the Kraken Lord" and "Cultists of the Kraken Lord". (I now have some regret of not getting it)

What's also interesting is the optional add-on of fish folk.

Brinewind is going to have some interesting neighbors.

      RPG Sidequest Decks
Ending soon. Card decks, each with a side quest. Pretty straightforward.

Been watching the previews for this on Bold's Instagram,  Some crazy cute models, this time sculpted by  Ismael Nieto.  I'm particularly fond of Bisa and Tori, the winners of the dino race, and the BatPacker is too cute.  Resin cast and STL like their last several releases.  I've picked up their STLs before and been very happy, Planning to try to swing for at least one in resin this time, though shipping from Sweden hurts.
