So, I will admit to a certain amount of ignorance. I had to go read up on how VAT works. I'm not entirely certain I've got my head around it yet. All and all I can't decide if it's a better or a worse system than the one we have in place.

It's worst cause, in the end, we pay more of taxes, it's better cause we do not have to worry about calculating to much at the end of the year (at least for the vast majority of the working population).

We filmed that and plan on putting it in the next update with a written section in it as well. We didn't want to knee jerk make an update about it.

Thank you for clarify @Reaper_Jon I was a bit concerned about the silence on the KS page.

Have the Australia shipments made it to Australia yet? I thought they were on the water before the USA ones but then we haven't heard anything about them for a long time.

I will ask Ron to put in the update the status of the other countries. Last i talked to him he expected the AUS to be the first ones shipping, but i am unsure!

So I watched Ed's answers in the video of the latest update. Can't say he's wrong about most things. I can see his reasoning and it's understandable. Only thing still bugging me is that a lot of that information came too late.

Yeah, it would have been nice if they told us as soon as they knew the EU hub wasn't happening. It's probably not going to hurt me much as I've been socking money away for VAT while adding things to the PM, and adding a few percentile points on top of that will be mostly fine, but some people have stretched themselves thinner than I have.

I've saved money for taxes too, that's normal I suppose. What is hard to swallow is have to pay more, unexpected, fees, to go through the hell of the Customs bureaucracy, loose time and have to wait weeks cause the process will be slow as hell.
Also, this are hard times for everyone, there is a pandemic, and is hitting hard the wallet of common people.
This could have been avoided, Brexit didn't fell from the sky in one night.
I know I'm whining like a child, but try to stay in EU customers shoes: would you be happy to pay 30 to 50% more in taxes, have to do unnecessary papers, and to wait 2 more months to have your already payed toys in your hand?
I don't want to offend anyone in Reaper, really, just saying how hard is from the point of view of us, to hear that was done what could be done, pay your fees and this is it.
Again, no offence is intended, I know we are human being and we are all fallible, just... what the...

Nope, you are complaining like an adult. There is money involved.

To be honest I get exactly why people are angry and disappointed. This was an issue that was raised even before the kickstarter finished and reaper just ignored them by going: "everything will be fine. Trust Us" (in the same voice as the Snake from the Stronghold series of games). Plus no one is happy when they need to pay more.

In other words Reaper dropped the ball in both communication and planing. If they kept the communication about the issue constant there wouldn't have been such a surprise and people would be able to see they are doing something. Planing wise, not preparing another hub for after Brexit was bad planing.

Someone reported on the discord server that a few weeks ago Ed stated in some twitch stream that Bones 6 won’t happen until 2022. I have not seen the clip myself; I’m just reporting what someone else reported.

Here, I took a screenshot.

At this point, I think it’s a given that there will be more kickstarters. It’s been a wildly successful model for them.

But, if I was in the EU customers’ shoes, I don’t think I’d care. This was Reaper’s 5th Kickstarter, the brexit issue was a Thing since the 4th KS, they’ve had feedback about the importance of communication since their 1st KS, and they completely dropped the ball on the issue. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, ya know? I wouldn’t have any faith in their communication at this point, unless they had a solidly laid out plan before the KS even started.

In my mind, if Reaper wants the EU customer’s business back, they have to earn it by showing them consideration for their needs ahead of time.

I can remember constantly spamming about Brexit around Bones IV fulfillment ^^ It was pretty much "ah, we'll see what happens, don't worry guys" then as well. I was especially nervous back then since we had pre-paid VAT in that KS. The situation was only resolved by the EU und UK moving the deadline.

Generally, I like that Reaper seems to be a very laid-back, family-and-community kinda business, not overly corporate or anything, but if it comes to my own money, and rather a substantial amount of it, I'd really prefer some more direct and clear communication.  A lot of smaller KS handle this better. And while it might be true that Reaper mainly serves US customers, even just losing 14% (I heard that number in the thread, even if it's 10% the point stands) of your backers is quite a drop.

I'm fine with paying VAT and even the import fee, I understand that the world has been in a chaotic place this past year. I'd still have prefered to learn about the issues with securing an EU hub earlier in one of those many updates. Sure, some people would be miffed either way, but having a nice KS update about the state of EU fulfillment that explains the situation would've really smoothed over things with backers like me. Yeah, the main campaign site always said, we'd have to pay VAT when in doubt, but helping us swallow that pill would've been nice.

I'm looking forward to hearing what they'll come up with for Bones VI, Irish hub seems like a good idea. But I'd like to see that being a reality and not "coming up, mostly, likely, really planning on it" during the fulfillment period.

Other than that, hopefully we'll hear from the UK bound containers soon, still excited for my box of toys ^^

Would it be worth while to have our EU and GB folks starting a separate thread for VAT and such?  I get that it's a point of frustration, but i think having a directive chat around this that references all the points better would be better served.  That way the dialogue is contained and easier to track and address for Reaper team.

Keeping this as the enthusiasm thread would be awesome.  It is clear there are some areas Reaper needs to address with our friends across the pond, but it is devolving this thread by beating the point with no solution being posted.

Well, there is the information thread, here:

https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/88396-reaper-bones-5-information-thread/

which seems to me to be a more appropriate spot.

@Reaper_Jon---what do you think?
