Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Weird question- we made an offer on a house, and could be closing within 45 days.

However, I've made a deal with our current renter that we'd give them a 3 month heads up (which we'll be doing today) whenever we're ready to move.

So, with that in mind... it would be reasonable enough to assume Bones V would be here 3 months from today, right?

Reasonable assumption, but no guarantee.  Though you will be able to change your address in the pledge manager right up to when shipping starts.

If there is any doubt, ship it to a friend’s place, or local relative. You’ll have enough stress dealing with moving. Your place among the waves will determine how quickly your stuff ships, but they crank out like 400-600 orders per day during KS fulfillment.

You mean within three months?  If so, that being the end of July, then:

1.  If you are continental US

2.  Assuming mail services and couriers are functioning more or less normally

3.  If the last container is not extremely delayed

4.  Assuming no major disasters, weather events, alien invasions

Then I would consider that likely in the context of present known variables.  But there is no 100% guarantee.  So if you want to gamble, it's probably pretty good odds.  But if you don't want to gamble, select an alternative trusted address and go here to change your delivery address:  https://pm.reapermini.com/

If you go there and sign in, you can also get a banner that gives your estimated shipping date.  (Mine just says May-june)  Bear in mind that this is only an estimate based on present known factors, and may be subject to change.  So use this information to inform your decision as to what you want to do and how much risk is acceptable.

Huh, didn't know there was an estimated ship date there now...

Edit: which reminds me... Any word on how they'll be shipping Canadian orders?  Will it be UPS like last time, or will they use CanadaPost?  Seems it copied over my FlexDelivery address, so I should probably change that just in case.

When they reminded me they were using UPS, that's what I did.

Normally I use FlexDelivery, but UPS doesn't really deal with Canada Post PO boxes, so I went back and changed my address (again) to my real home address.

Fortunately, working from home in an apartment means I have a good chance of being there when it arrives.

Thursday they said that usually UPS takes bulk pallets, brings them in to a facility, then breaks up the pallet to distribute from there.  I would presume this is what we would call "the regular method" that they have always used for Canadian KS fulfillment.  However, Ed also said UPS had suggested some options that they're looking into, but no details about what those options might be or how they would work were given.  So, unless we hear additional information on the matter, my default assumption would be that it's the same as last time.

Yeah, what's weird to me is I could have sworn I had put my regular address in there when I got it all sorted out initially, but *shrug* who knows.  It's the correct address now, which is what matters.

Assuming it hasn't changed our UPS guy is pretty good.  Pretty cute too!  I still feel sorry a few years ago the poor guy was delivering every day, and of course the day there's a giant bulky package I was signing another package from the afternoon UPS guy - he still occasionally says "at least it isn't a chair this time" ^_^;;;;

UPS here is kinda annoying and will leave a sticker on the apartment building door to pick it up at their location. However, since I knew when the Bones IV package was going to arrive, roughly, last time I stayed home and put a sign on the apartment door of "please knock on this window and/or call my number" and the delivery guy did so.

Since I'm working from home now, I don't even need to make an excuse to not be in the lab. Hah. Hopefully they'll decide to pay attention to the note again.
