Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Stupid question to the Canadians: when they shipped your orders together last time, didn't you pre-pay taxes? How could UPS waive the tax otherwise?

My personal experience with getting stuff through customs has been, that small/cheap and uninteresting packages have a good chance of slipping through unbothered. My Bones V is definetly not that, so we'll see. As long as they don't think it's some sort of commercial operation I'm running, I'm happy.

for the EU-ans, I ordered the Reaper Vex past friday, it seems to have past the customs department yesterday. That would make it 5 days including a weekend in there for shipping to The Netherlands. It's been at the customs since monday 14:00 and been released tuesday 19:00-ish. That's a decent time I think with the whole Brexit border stuff, I hope the kickstarter shipment itself will get the same time 😃

Eh, I'm telling myself to be patient with customs, as it can vary quite a bit since Brexit. I've also had stuff stuck in customs for weeks coming from the UK.

Right now I'm filling my time by putting all the Bones V things I ordered into my database, since database entries are fun and I can look at all the pictures again.

My Reaper package (NOT the kickstarter) just arrived. Declared value of 186,- but no import fees were demanded, and no VAT was asked for. it was just delivered. I'm hoping the system will be just as kind for me when it's the kickstarter, but this was already a nice surprise 😄

I am interested in the pledgemanger reopening.

I know I should have gotten everything I wanted in the year or so it was open, but there is still things I was on the fence about ...  so I paid careful attention.

It creates a new order, manufactured and shipped completely separate from the ordinal KS

implying new boxes, new shipping fess, new taxes due... will not effect arrival of original order,

AND it comes with a 6 month delay (opens july 5th,  90 days to close, 90 days to ship)

and a 20-30%  markup of KS prices

it was referred to as bones 5.5   its still faster than waiting on retail

they said only "Popular"  items will be included.  Specifically , yes on all the Full Core set,  big dragons, and the Mammoth.

No core set extras or busts.

stuff I would still buy, if it makes the "popular" cut

Greek Expansion

genies

demonic temptation

I'm wondering about Canadian PO box shipments. It is possible to ship via USPS or Canada Post for those of us who only have rural addresses? Getting the courier to deliver can be a nightmare, depending on who it is.

I've using P.O. boxes for years now for *all* of my packages. Search for Flex Delivery from Canada Post, it's the name of their free P.O. box service. As long as it's from USPS or Canada Post, you can choose to get it delivered directly at the post office.

Couriers like UPS on the other hand don't do PO boxes. They drop it on your front door/porch or you go pick it up at their depot (varies all the time).

For Kickstarter shipments from Reaper and many others, to my recollection I've never paid extra fees unlike regular "free" shipments. The KS shipping fee price always felt high enough to have the taxes included in them. Be it USPS/Canada Post or UPS or whatever.

Thank you, that answered all my questions. For now, I'll go with the status quo: hope for the best, prepare for the worst, blame Buglips.

It's always in fashion to blame Buglips.  that is what he is there for.

Indeed. Cobra Bromander made it an official declaration that Buglips is to accept the blame for any and all problems. Stormshadow agreed.

I've never blamed Bug, he's a stand up goblin! He seems to be framed alot!

Someone forgot to put on his tinfoil hat, and Buglips got to his brain. That, or forgot his nose plugs and was tortured into obedience via stanky footwear.

In all seriousness though, I’d definitely take another look at the pledge manager again if they re-opened it.

Way back in Bones I, Reaper didn't even know about the brokerage fee (at that time $25).  When they announced that they would be shipping to Canada using UPS, several people (including myself) immediately jumped in to make sure they understood there would be an additional fee above and beyond taxes + shipping, why this was more peculiar to courier services than regular mail, etc.  This was so that they would know what was involved to either A) choose a different option for Canada (USPS, using RAFM as a distributor hub, etc) or B) Making sure people know about the fee, but this was a problem because the kickstarter had already closed and this fee was not mentioned in the original deal.

In between this and that, for whatever reason the USPS and RAFM-as-hub options didn't work out.  That left UPS, and the aforementioned problem with that surprise fee, and so whatever was worked out with UPS we didn't have to pay it (I presume Reaper ate it instead).

Since that was an emergency measure, that's why I presume we have been (or should have been) responsible for all taxes and fees subsequent to Bones I (or, at least, subsequent to the expiry of that original deal with UPS).
