Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Yes, I was kinda hoping they'd maybe get it today after locating it yesterday. Oh well. Past estimates were that they'd take a week per container to set everything up, so I guess we might see some movement from that hub the week after next.

And I wasn’t sure about the Townsfolk, but thought I could use some for Siege Engine crew. I’m so glad I got them now!  They’ll be perfect for crew, and their passive stance will make them great captives too. As well as the obvious NPC function.  Beautiful little characters.

Thanks for the pics! I had actually completely forgotten there were townsfolk minis in Bones V! So I suddenly became extra excited, haha!  😂

Yeah, thank you very much! I actually really wanted the town folks and your photos show that they look pretty good, I’m just hoping that everybody shows up with noses and good details!

Wave here 5 in Colorado, and I received my 4+ lbs of plastic a couple of hours ago. No missing pieces. I am very, very pleased with everything I got. All of the pieces fit together easily, and the details are all very crisp, with very minimal moldlines! There's some slight warpage here and there that seems to be fixed after some heating with a hair-dryer, repositioning, and running some cold tap water over it. Now I'm tempted to get some other things when they open the pledge manager back up!

I'll take some pictures to share once I finish my breakfast; I was too excited to be able to eat before dinner time

they're progressing fast through the waves

guess it helps lots of orders probably ordered the busts / dragonfolk / rune wights

They hit multiple demographics with those. Folks who want to try out busts and bigger stuff will like the busts, and folks curious how the resolution is on new material for busts (like me) want the busts. Dragonfolk appeal to a lot of D&D players. Rune wights appeal to a lot of D&D dungeon masters. And the price points on all those were pretty darn appealing.

I'm in wave 16 with none of the problem pieces and got shipping information this morning.

That's me. I've always wanted to try painting one, but the high price tag has always made me shy away.

ETA: looking at the pictures of people's stuff, I'm really excited. The detail looks great! They've come a long way since the original Bones.

Agreed @Chaoswolf,i have also not got into busts because of the high price (and my current skill) limiting what i feel i could do with them.  Look like great practice for skin and eyes with the larger area.

I saw someone say wave 16 shipped.  That's insane!  Go, Reaper!  I do need to be realistic and not get over hyped on shipping, though.  I'm wave 25 and have a monster order (pun intended) coming.  I got 2 things on that last container, so it's just a waiting game.  Only good news is that Reaper opted to chug through what orders they could fulfill now so it makes it faster when those missing items do arrive for the rest of us.

Keep it up, Ed, Ron, Dave, Justin, and Jon!  Also, nice lap time you put in running through the pick area on Reaper Live, @Reaper_Jon. You got about a 4.2 sec lap in there.  I see someone else is also ready for the Olympics.  I'd say that was a bronze medal lap, but it was at the end of a big day.  We all know you can do at least 3.5 sec... maybe flat 3.  Good hustle!

Might have even come up with your own event:  Meeple Chase?  De-cast-alon? 40-yard Dash? Fulfillment Freestyle?  Maybe it's your team's new closing down procedure when locking up?  I see something hilarious coming out of this.

soo I will getting slammed for this but  I do have a question.  Why not split orders for those with ghost ships/buts/etc? To be clear. I know  that Reaper will get me my minis eventually  and YES I have plenty of Bones 2,3&4 to paint ( yes I have completed a full set of Bones 1 🙂 )

HOWEVER, why could they not split up those orders with the missing items into 2 shipments? Is it just because (1) it would be prohibitively expensive to ship two smaller packages instead of shipping 1 larger, heavier package or (2) it would screw up the software they are using by splitting the orders up like that? or (3) some other reason I am unaware of?

As a cost accountant I can appreciate (1)... but (2) is kinda weak sauce. I deal with databases of over 800,000 customers with dozens of payements and hundreds of costs for each customer.

Not say they have to or they should  but If they run out of people without the missing container items and stop shipping  they are just gonna lose goodwill. Of course if they do it AFTER that people will complain they should have split up the orders in the first place LOL.

I think from my understanding, part of it is cost, but also contract logistics; they've contracted with various shipping companies to distribute things a certain way and at a certain price, and changing things at the last minute and going "well, actually we want to do twice as many shipments at the same cost" ppprrooobbbabbllyy wouldn't go over too well for them.

Plus I don't think 2 is as weak sauce as you think it is. I imagine you're working with a program and system that has been set up to take and make changes for years. Their software is most likely designed for a singular use and only gets pulled out for a few weeks every couple of years. It's feature range is most likely very limited and the chances of anyone on the ground being able to modify it on short notice is slim. Convincing a program to do something it's not meant to do takes time and effort that can quickly turn into a LOT of time and effort - time that could be spent pulling orders or harrassing someone to ship the container.

More expensive and it would take much more time is my guess. It isn't just the software - there are people having to inspect and box the orders. They also have their usual business to run.

On pick-up end, I'm pretty happy to only worry about one package anyway.

Some photos of the Dwarf Kings Crypt, and the Henchmen.
The Dwarf King’s Crypt is a beautiful set, with tons of detail!  I just wish the ghost had been done in clear, not blue; or in the color the Pirate Ghosts were done in for Bones 4.
And the Henchmen are a delightful group of characters

could you do a shot of the henchmen next to forscale? these are the ones I am most nervous about.

MAN I want the dwarf king set!

thanks for sharing!
