funded Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Container supposed to be in Dallas today, not Reaper, if I recall right. So to the Reaper warehouse perhaps Monday.

 

Now that the darn thing is moving, I'd guess they can estimate the transit time fairly well.

The LTPK is a logistical headache to assemble. Random mini’s from the Core set (who knows if they are all on the same mould or not), paints made and bottled in Denton, instructions printed who-knows-where. 
 

If reaper can be convinced to add the LTPK to the 5.5 PM, I’m betting it’ll be a lesser deal, in a bag, only paints and instructions, but no mini’s. 

I have not received my pledge yet, hopefully it ships sometime next week.  However, from past reaper live, all the figures are already part of the core set.  They are already being produced including in B 5.5.  The box is no longer plastic, it will be card board and is being printed in china with the instructions, the box and bag of miniatures is coming from China and then they are putting the paints inside the box in Texas.

I am not trying to convince reaper to do anything.   Given the list was supposed to be composed of popular items, I was expecting that particular item was popular enough to make the cut.

For people who've started assembling their minis, can we start a thread somewhere to mention any that need special attention because they're tricky, or because they create brush access issues etc? Planning on assembling and storing a bunch an hour at a time.

Maybe a mod can branch this post to the appropriate forum. I have no idea where would be appropriate.

@lexomaticthat's a spectacular idea.  I often find knowing what others hit as a problem as well as the solutions they have for them, are invaluable.  Please do start a post for Bones 5 Assembly (tips & tricks).

 

There's a separate paint club a few of us have going, which will also share beta like this should things be encountered that need special attention.  Good call!

I have only 1 (well one that I will use. I think there is a Bookeyface one, but I will never use that one + tbh, I have no why I even have it, thus I don't count it.) Only thing I didn't get that I was on the fence was the townsfolk. I'm still on the fence for them. I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle of just getting those in the 5.5 PM.

I'm sure I have some close family that only have one as well, but I've been on the internet since 1997. For the longest time, I only had the email address that came with my internet provider, but I've switched providers so many times I lost count of how many I had. I then got a yahoo account so that I didn't have to keep changing it, but it quickly filled with spam and then when I joined XBox Live had to have a Microsoft email. Now that I have Android I have a Gmail account, and then I have my own .com domain name with family and other personal stuff going there... which is 3 accounts there (one for things I know I'll get spammed from, one for things like eBay, and one for forums like here). Then I have a work email, which even though I'm trying to change jobs I'll have to keep, as it's also my student email as I work at the college I'm getting a degree from. 

As to the reopened PM, I finalized my orders a long time ago, as the last thing I was on the fence about (the Ghost Ship), I broke down and bought well before the original PM ended. Actually looking back there are a number of things i got for just one or two models, so I went a bit overboard with stuff I really don't need LOL

Moving fast it seems. Just got my pledge delivered (Tennessee, Nashville area). Not sure if mine has anything from the last containers though.  First impressions:

• like the new paint colors - so many purple shades to use!
• The dragonfolk came in a retail blister pack
• The clear spell effects look great
• The troll bridge terrain is bigger than I expected but nice
• Detail on Bones Black minis looks great as usual

Now to find the checklists and go through everything.

So, looking at random prices.... Expansions went up 20%.  Paint sets are being offered at retail price (roughly 30% raise).  Core set increased by 45%  Pirate ship up 25%, Shadows of Ravenhome up 21% as is Ildraedis.  Mandupar Pass up 22%.   I don't remember how much the GitD ship was originally but that looks like a stiff increase. 

 

IMO, Expansions and add-ons are still a good deal.  Might consider another paint set, but eh, it will come to retail.

Never know paint might be available for RCon goers this year as well. (right now I hope the RVE Fast palettes will be there for us).

Even the paints (and no, the paints aren’t at retail prices now, it breaks down to $1.83 per bottle, a 22% increase).

Ah, my mistake. I forgot that the KS paint sets are 12 colors per set not 6.  As a retail Fast Palette they will be $21.99 per set of 6, so the KS is still a pretty good deal, roughly half what they will cost later. 

 

So, do I want to take a chance on paint that will ship in January?  :)

I used the dice from the core set last night for my D&D game.  The D20 is going into dice jail.  I only rolled one hit against my players last night.  What was supposed to be a pretty deadly encounter turned into a total rout.   I hope the rest of you get better results.
