Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

I noticed something in watching these unboxing videos - people keep throwing away the plastic.  But then also rebagging them in new ziplock.  I would say i have also done this in the past, but grouped many in a single bag after trimming and gluing.

It dawned on me that if i just cut the bag they come in evenly from the top, i can just reuse it.  I hate plastic waste (stupid, i know since I'm cutting away chunks of sprue, putting things in plastic bins, discarding boxes, and on, and on...), but i think i can cut down on how much gets discarded.  I'll aim to cut the top open of these individual bags they come in and especially if they have a tag or sticker indicating what it is on it.   Once I've cut out the excess, cleaned them up, and dry fitted, I'll put it back in that bag (or group stuff with it), use a sharpie to mark it, tape the top, then into a big bin it goes.

Hooray for lowering waste.

The plastic baggies on the single piece models is one of the most frustrating parts of this for me too. Shame they aren't already in zippies, since then it would be easier to reuse. Or just... don't bag ones that aren't in multiple pieces?

I think some places can recycle soft plastics, but many can't. It is annoying.

I have not received my pledge yet, hopefully it ships sometime next week.  However, from past reaper live, all the figures are already part of the core set.  They are already being produced including in B 5.5.  The box is no longer plastic, it will be card board and is being printed in china with the instructions, the box and bag of miniatures is coming from China and then they are putting the paints inside the box in Texas.

I am not trying to convince reaper to do anything.   Given the list was supposed to be composed of popular items, I was expecting that particular item was popular enough to make the cut.

Just a follow up to be complete, I watched the Reaper Live from this past Thursday.  The LTPK did come up.  They said the reason it is not in 5.5 is because they plan to do something with it from a retail perspective.

Well, I do box them up, which takes care of that. Just never got to singling them out since they don't share the potential delicacies of metal minis. Smashing them all together is part of the fun I guess lol.

Considering I am in one of the later waves AND I have most of the minis in the last shipment, I imagine it will be a while before mine shows up... mater of fact, since I am planning a work trip in 2 weeks, that will probably be when it ships

Keeps the dust off after washing.

I don’t wash my miniatures of any make until I decide to paint them.

My figures are all organized by RPG needs and categories. Some smaller subsets are kept in bags. However, most of my figures sit loose, by category, in old shoe boxes, plastic bins, etc.

I got some of those plastic bins with many compartments (see spoiler).

I use 3 atm, with 2 still empty. Started filling in Bones 4.

Labeled them: Terrain, Monsters, NPC's.

Odds are they will be redefined and upgraded to 5 boxes instead of 3 😛

Spoiler

Since I use my minis for gaming, I use smaller plastic tubs, labeled for easy grabbing.  I currently have:

Terrain:

            Floor Tiles

            Scatter Terrain – Tavern

            Scatter Terrain – Market

            Scatter Terrain – Dungeon

            Scatter Terrain - Graveyard

To avoid confusion, I keep things like the Arcane Circle, Ruined Temple, (the Stonehenge like terrain), and the Tree of Despair separate in their own container.  I have Baba Yaga's Hut, but it is still in the box and I haven't opened it up yet.

For figures:

I have seven medium sized tubs with a collection of PC minis, labeled by race, four tubs have a mix of figures stored by race (one tub has Halfling, Dragonborn, Aasimar)…etc. I have one tub of for humans, one tub for Dwarfs, and one tub for Elves & ½ Elves.

Other “enemy” figures are separated by type:

                        Undead

                        Ocean Beasties

                        Fiends

Trolls, Hags & other Swampy figures

Humanoid Beasts (more rare types…Bear, Goat, Lizard….one’s I do not have a lot of)

                        Misc. Large figures

Misc. Other Enemies (this is a craft sorting tub and contains things I only have one or two figures of for easier searching if I need a quick grab of something)

                        Eldritch Horror

                        Giantkin

                        Goblins

                        Kobolds

Abyssal Chickens (I have started collecting the Wizkids Abyssal Chickens from their Avernus Box…for reasons.)

NSFW (I put most of my risqué minis here, so the kids and other who would not appreciate them do not stumble across them in a random box) (My son will DM occasionally because he is learning to DM and likes to run a session and then ask for critiques).

I do have other tubs, but I do not remember the exact label (I am typing from memory at work).

These are all on shelves, with the labels (from a label maker, pushing forward).

Most of my huge/large figures are displays on wall shelves or on display racks (most of my eldritch horror figures and a full large tribe of Gnolls).

Bones V will completely through a wrench into this organization, as I got one ship and one glow-in-the-dark ship, all of the dragons, most of the expansion packs, core set, multiples of the most of the scenic and other extras from the core set and other goodies J

Once I know when my precious’ are supposed to arrive, I am thinking about taking a couple of days off work to receive the shipment and spend my days swimming is mountains of glorious minis…aka Scrooge McDuck style!!!

I currently keep my paints in three reaper carry cases (two learn to paint kits and one paint set), but I need to find a better option as I am running out of room.

Look up the Artbin Super Satchel, it is very similar to Reaper's large paint carry case.

A co-author and I have started a venture and would appreciate you checking out our RPG supplement!! This is our first KS project, but I’ve been here on the forums for years. We’ve backed tons of projects and all well-versed in KS.

Little secret…the project is named in homage to my favorite band. 😆

Please scope out our project! See you at ReaperCon.

They took a long time to come live with this one.......

like their other one (Sombras) Reina Roja has chosen an artist with some just askew of normal surreal artwork to draw from.    His insta is here Gary Villarreal

Looks like the only complaints on their previous KS (Sombras) were shipping delays and people who didn't seem to understand that they were ordering multipart resin models and were determined to kick up a storm about how this wasn't what they thought they were ordering.

Hello folks! AngerSmash will be launching in Kickstarter on September 15, 2021 and you may now follow the project with this pre-launch link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/uncreatedspace/angersmash-a-game-making-fun-of-your-anger

But before launching on Kickstarter, I wanted to get some pre-feedback on the game box design that we've come up so far. Please refer to the photo below. We'd love to hear your thoughts! Thank you so much! 🙂

(August 27) Edit: Just finished reading the guidelines, so far I think I might not be violating any rules, except for the gif photo that I've posted here which I've taken down and replaced with a non-moving png 🙂 If I did misunderstand the guidelines please let me know so that I don't do this again. Thank you so much!

Just wanted to ask for feedback on the box design of a game that I'm currently developing. Hoping to hear from y'all, most of you guys are pretty experienced in board/card games. Thanks so much! 🙂

Given I have a few unplayed games sitting on my shelf, my will save has gotten pretty high on these.
