Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Recommended Posts

Regarding package weights for those with ships, I think there's a UPS email for one package for ships (12 lbs. per ship) with a tracking#, a UPS email for another package which contains "everything else" with a different tracking# and that package's weight; and then UPS is sending a third email confirmation which lists one of the earlier two tracking #s and the total weight of the two packages.

So I asked this question TWICE on LIVE, and no response so I am asking here:

Can we please get a page with all the bones 5 stuff showing pictures like we did on bones 4? It would help greatly to inventory our stuff, especially NONE of the power ups are on Kickstarter AND they are NOT in PM 5.5

Also, will Bust collection come to retail seeing as it is not in PM 5.5, which I assume was because it was not popular?

@Reaper_Jonand @Reaper Ron can you help on this? Thanks.

I'm sorry i didn't see your question on live last night. I do no know if the bust will be coming to retail, but I can say that they arn't in the 5.5 PM because they didnt sell to well during the initial KS. The retail question is so far out that I dont know what will be released and when at this point, But I will do my best to keep asking and have a list of things to see if we can compile it to say "Yes retail" or No Retail" ETC. At this juncture I don't think any higher up decisions have been made regarding that.

The most frustrating thing about Ed's explanation of the shipping stuff last night was that it didn't address the most recent concerns at all. I understand all of the things that happened and why they did what they did when the container was missing. I think it was the right thing. No problem there. My concern is that, even though they state that they were going to go back and start from Wave 1 after the container's arrival (and I understand some exceptions to fill pallets with smaller orders), this is not happening. From everything Reaper has said, it seems like they should and fully intended to go back to the beginning of waves. However, that is clearly not happening. I've seen posts of people in later waves and larger orders than mine going out. Several posts. And yet, there are more and more reports from people in Wave 1 and other earlier waves that just aren't going out. I've checked email, My Choice, and the Pledge Manager. My order just hasn't been pulled. I know I was one of the later locked orders in Wave 1, but why is my order still waiting? I'm not upset by the wait, I just want to know why what they're saying they're doing isn't matching up with what is actually happening. Something is going on. And that concern wasn't addressed at all.

Ohh that is a little sad. The busts were one of the things I was interested in and got. It seemed to be Reaper testing the water for other model scales and ideas. Bones (and bones black) Material just seems to be perfect for affordable busts. It is a pity that they didn't sell well during kickstarter.
Next time add a scenic cloud base and call them GOD HEADS. Perfect with the Disapproving Hand.

I wonder if they would have sold better if they were in a seperate kickstarter aimed at bust painters.

Long ago, in the past, when we were young. I remember, in these very forums someone mentioning how the time of locking in will have just as much, if not more, of an impact as the wave when it comes to shipping order. So that may be the cause. I remember this information being hard to find, and since it really didn't affect me, I did not look more into it.

Wow, fire marshal....in my long and delay filled history of kickstarter, that's a first!

This reminds me a little of a time I had a comic/nerd convention get the fire marshal called in the middle of it! 😅 They'd not capped ticket sales because they'd never needed to before, but that year they exploded with attendance - fire marshal got called, nobody was allowed to come in, if you left the building they didn't let you back in and if you weren't leaving the building, you weren't allowed to move between the floors (and it was a 3-4 floored convention!)

Naturally everyone, myself included, just sat where they were standing and refused to move because we refused to get kicked out of the only yearly comic convention in the province. Took ages for the amount of people in the building to drop low enough for panels and whatnot to resume. Which is why you should always bring snacks to a con; no idea if the fire marshal is about to strand you all on the level with no food vendor (or worse, an overpriced one!).

It seems my minis might indeed be arriving today, two days after they were shipped! I got an import scan in the regular customs sorting centre near me about an hour ago - usually it means something will arrive the next day, but that's for Canada Post, and UPS seems to be moving this along quickly. What an agonizing 12 hours this is gonna be.

Everything I've ever heard regarding lock-in time is that it was secondary to Waves. Wave order first, then locking time. So, I should still be a Wave 1 order, just one at the end. But, there are also plenty of Wave 1 orders (including one that locked in asap) that are waiting. It really seems like the earlier waves are stuck somehow.

It WAS addressed last night. Guindyloo summed it up on page 888:

"To sum up Ed's explanation of the shipping wave hopping that we have been seeing: the wave inconsistences occurred due to the missing items being filtered out, this occurred a couple of times as they got items or in the case where they made the decision to start shipping the retail packaged dragonfolk and rune wights, as they added items in, the computer had to remove filters and re-order things. On their end, they are not seeing the wave numbers on the orders, it is not listed on the ticket print outs nor is it listed on the tablets that they're using when they pull the orders. Nothing is being delayed or moved with ill intent, it has just been a logistical thing and they confirmed that this particular kickstarter has been a logistical nightmare - easily the most difficult of any of the kickstarters. "

Was actual size information ever released on them?  I remember scale being mentioned a few times, but no actual dimensions.

I was rather happy to see busts in there, and probably would have ordered them if it wasn't for money having been so tight...  Another thing that comes to mind is that to some people, the three options seemed to not only be generic fantasy creatures, but "safe" ones too, and didn't pull as much interest.

At this point, it's probably just best to accept that the order isn't working correctly for some reason this time around and isn't going to get fixed before fulfillment is over.  Kit is the one who does their database stuff, and right now he's in charge of the UK/EU shipping. It will be faster for everyone if Reaper just powers through, rather than have Kit dive into the guts and figure out what's gone wrong, thus slowing everyone down, and potentially causing more problems.

That said, we do need to make it a point to stay on Reaper about it after the KS is shipped, so that it doesn't repeat for Bones 6 (or even 5.5).

No, it actually doesn't address anything that's currently happening. Ed went back and explained things that happened 2 weeks+ ago. I listened to it, and Ed's explanation from last night has no bearing on the issues currently being experienced by many early wave backers that are seemingly being skipped for no reason. He said many times that everything from the container forward should be in wave order. It's not happening that way.

well said . There is something afoot. Starting of Tuesday all wave 1 should have been head of line.. it APPEARS they were not. I do not discount anyone's disappointment but whatever the issue may be its probably quicker to just push thru it and let Reaper do a post mortem, which Ed also mentioned. Methinks they will have an explanation ... but after fulfillment is done

As stated a couple of times above, Wave Order got borked up when the last container was unexpectedly delayed and they had to either start shipping what they had or re-negotiate with UPS.  So exceptions were made in the DB for the missing items, then it got altered again when they started shipping orders with items in retail packaging to fulfill as many orders as they could. Consequently the DB is very unhappy with a bunch of alterations and excepted cases.

So, in the hope that they could satisfy as many customers as they could in the short term, Reaper made their lives more difficult down the line when the final container arrived.  Not really something that should be expected to happen again, right?  So, you REALLY want to drag them on Social Media for the forseeable future because you aren't getting your models in the order you though they should go out? :grr:

I get it. Fulfillment will be done soon and when things ship won't matter anymore. But, I do hope they explain why these issues happened, even if fulfillment being over makes it moot.

Also, there are talks internally about the waves ETC. Next project we will most likely not have waves, and will have something else. We will talk about this more in the future after KS and before the next project. Just wanted to let everyone know that we hear you and we are actively talking internally about ways to fix things and look at other problems that could occur to mitigate that before it happens for next time.
