That way i'm not disappointed anymor. we're just last wave now to my mind, instead of in the first waves. i think even late backers are being pulled before ours? I was sure that I had lost one or more items, but I took an inventory and everything was there. The packing itself -- the placement of the items in the box -- was up to Reaper standards. Reaper used plastic packing straps on previous Kickstarter boxes that I've received. Are they using them this time? BTW, all of my previous Bones Kickstarter boxes arrived intact. They are reusing the larger shipping boxes that Expansions etc were shipped from the factory and were intended to be shipped neatly stacked in a shipping container, not tossed about by UPS. There have been quite a few photos on Facebook of crushed, torn, and holed boxes on their FB page. Mine arrived with one edge smashed in and a couple small holes, and Core Set and A couple of the Expansion boxes crushed to various degrees, but nothing missing, and no figures damaged from the box collapse. Shipping was 130$, if that is an indicator. I have no doubt there will be some creative language on the part of the order puller and the UPS driver bringing it up to the third floor. Stairs, no elevator. It is honestly easier to say what I did NOT order (LTP kit, paints, busts, bases). Multiples of several items - Core x 2, 3 of each siege engine, 2 catfolk, 3 dragonfolk, 2 daimyo, 2 fan favorites, 2 chronoscope, 2 greek odyssey, 2 extra elves, 4 extra walls of stone, 4 extra walls of thorns, 2 fantasy dinos, 4 mounted wraiths, 2 mouslings, 2 gallogard, 2 ravenholme, 2 storm giant, 2 beastmen, 2 full moon fever, 3 rune wights, 2 yokai, and 3 pirate ships. Some of my extras are orders for friends (i only want one ship for myself, for example), but a lot of the extra stuff is because I am a wargamer, ordering units and batteries. The extra elves, plus the core set ones are going to make a sweet unit of archers. I also do conversions, taking fantasy figures and doing a sci-fi or post-apocalyptic take on them. I did up a bunch of early edition skaven clanrats with some plastic firearms I bought in bulk (from aliexpres).Looking forward to seeing what I can do with my new bones when they arrive. Jams happened all the time when I was working at UPS, or the trailers were stuffed to the roof so there was only one real way to get the stack down safely - grab what you could and coerce it into collapsing sort of safely... Which is precisely why you use a sturdy box in the first place... My post office and UPS center beat the heck out of boxes both large and small, more than other folks in my area have seen (diff post offices). Back in CO we had a jerk mailman who'd stomp my flowerbed, then stop delivering when we asked him to not do so. He left an official looking note saying our porch was unsafe (it was fine)... was not documented by post office. And then he'd be very awkwardly oogling me and other women while we did gardening work. Ugh. Skallabjorn Posted July 19, 2021 Share Posted July 19, 2021 Also a lot of the weaker boxes are meant to be used on wrapped pallets, for stability and protection. But if you put palletized material in a UPS/USPS delivery van/jeep, you lose the cubic footage of the pallet as shipping space. a 4' x 4' x 6" pallet is 8 cubic feet of space. The reason shipping companies use pallets is that the container can be unloaded and back into service faster, generating more profit for the company. The manufacturer that sent the boxes to reaper, on the other hand, did NOT palletize the boxes, in order to fit the maximum of boxes per container. Plus, in my experience (tradeshows and warehouses), most of the Chinese made cartons and cardboard boxes are made with a cheaper grade of material that is softer to the touch and less durable. The funny thing is a lot of the Chinese exhibitors I see on the show floor will actually abandon their structures, rather than dismantling them, as it costs more in shipping and labor to repack and send them home than it would to just replace them.
