Maledrakh's Bones 4 Skeletal Dragon

Recommended Posts

This was an 18 dollar add on to the Bones 4 campaign, the rather massive Skeletal Dragon. And what an excellent specimen it is!

I made a 230x110mm base for it on my 3D printer. It needed to be printed in two parts as it was far to large for my 140x140mm print bed. I glued ot together. gave it a once over with some sandpaper and stuck the bones base to it.

How I painted it:

Black undercoat with white ink zenithal sprayed on. After this was thoroughly dried out, I painted Citadel Skeleton Horde contrast (yes! Contrast paint! It works like a thicker ink or stain!) all over.

When this was thoroughly dry, I drybrushed in varying degree with several bone-type colours, both yellowish and whiteish ending with Reaper Splintered Bone at the very tops.

Details such as horns and claws in gloss black.

Base in Vallejo Earth followed by some tufts and my autumnal flock mix, finised with black rims.

A relatively fast method to do skeletons of all kinds.

We can make our camp in this ancient shelter made from the bones of a beast long dead...yes, that will be very safe indeed.

Nicely done. I like the spots on the bones (particularly the ribs) where the brown persists. Nice mix of colours on the base too.

      Hi again, fine folks!

So just finished this one last night, last part of course the shield, which took me a while to figure out, but who doesn't need a good squirrel shield?  Anyhoos, hope you enjoy!

Still plonking away at the Bones 4 Core Set, Here is the Dire Boar from the "Dire Consequences" subset.

      Pumbaa or Piglet. You decide.

Drybrushed from a black undercoat. Greys on the bottom part, browns on the top. Oink oink.

      Hi Guys,

another old classic from Julie Guthrie, part of a set she put out for Ral Partha in the eighties, Female Adventurers, which I imagine was their answer to the Grenadier boxed set that was also full of delightful adventuring ladies.

This figure is a little nostalgic, because she's actually lead, back from the eighties, not version cast later in Rallidium.

And as always, wasn't sure on a color for her clothing. I had the hair and skin pretty much figured out, but once I got to that point, it took a day or two to actually commit.

Anyhow, hope you enjoy, a great figure from the early sculpting days of Julie Guthrie!

The Ghouls, aka the Flesh-Eater Court faction's warband was the first to be released seperately for Beastgrave, the third season of the Warhammer Underworld game, apart from the warbands in the Beastgrave game set that is.
As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to have them. Still, it took me several months after building and undercoating them until I got around to actually painting them. Much like most minis I compulsively buy. I still have first and second season warbands to paint...and most of a ghoul king army...
I did these in the same sitting as the Reaper Bones Hungering Dead. Luckily, ghouls can be really quickly painted with good results.
These I had undercoated black with white zenithal when I first bought them, before standing around gathering dust for a few months.

Another monstrous growth by the Plague of the Warpath universe: The Aberration. This is what happens when the Plague's forced mutation/growth of the victim goes wrong...a blood-crazed, unthinking juggernaught killing machine results.

You know the drill: You are moving slowy down the darkened spacebase corridor, flickering lights illuminating splashes here and there, wisps of smoke drifting through the processed atmosphere. Everything is quiet, calm but ominous music wafts from somewhere in the background. Cold sweat dripping down your neck, out there in the darkness....something awaits.
Suddenly, a loud crash and tearing sound howls through the darkness, the lights go crazy in time with the sudden djent-metal music that inexplicably pounds in your ears as an inhuman roar resounds all around! Straight out of nowhere the massive monster lunges at you as your twitching, honed reflexes barely let you get out of the way in time as the demonic beast barrels past. You fire your shotgun dry, then you pull out the chainsaw...
