Citrine drives herself slowly mad, tackles Lost Kingdoms Quetzalquoatl

Recommended Posts

So I have started prepping this baby for painting:

And I am disappointed with the quality,  the mold lines are sooo bad,  and the vents are right in the middle of details, and some places the vents were cut in such a way that adjacent details were lost.

Just a few of the many pieces, black knife for scale.

Nasty mold line, with my first pass at it

Vents in detail, there were worse ones that I already mostly fixed on another piece:

For as much as this thing cost, even at Kickstarter pricing, I guess I expected better.

I went in on that, but not for the big dragon.  I started on the baby axolotls. I might as well be carving them myself, there is so much flash and they are soo tiny and delicate I'm afraid of ruining them.   Will be watching to see how your project comes along.  It's an amazing concept sculpt.

Ah heck, the renders were so nice too ::(: Your third picture looks as if there's been some mold shift too.

Hopefully you can fix it and give it the paint job it deserves.

I have everything instead of that one.

Currently working on the Tlemiahuatl and that one looked great, a little flash but nothing serious.

Looking forward to see how this turns out.

I was so close to buying this mini. I even emailed the creator at one point after the campaign and never got a response. Looks like it might be a good think to wait for them to up their game. Either way I am excited to see what you do with it.

We got a new refrigerator recently and had to move a cabinet out of the way, and the content of said cabinet ended up on our main table aka, my work surface.   We took the opportunity to fix the floor in the little hallway while the cabinet was not there, finally got that done yesterday, so now the table is freed up.

So I am finally able to keep struggling with this beastly again. Today's progress,  I am 90% done with the removing mold lines on that body piece in the back and maybe 30% done with the wing.   I guess I will have to green stuff that missing claw tip.

@Citrine have you tried contacting the creator?

I have everything else but this one, and I have no miscasts.

During the Halfling Campaign there were some people who had miscasts etc and they were replaced.

Maybe it's worth trying?

Opened up another piece,  it has a few issues:

Stress fractures in the resin?

I would definitely contact the creator.

I have a lot of their stuff without problems, during the KS the communication was good, so I hope they can help you out.

The scales near the stress fractures look kind of voxelated too, which is weird.  I wonder if they 3d-printed the master but didn't antialias (or whatever the 3d equivalent is)...?

I almost backed that KS because the models were so gorgeous (especially this one), but I really balked at the price.  I hope they fix it for you!

Definitely glad I'll have this as an STL for printing so I dont have to worry about those imperfections..  I'll be curious to know what they say about it once you contact them

I backed the new STL KS as well.

Getting it as a file works better for me, since the last time I skipped it because it's so huge.

I will scale it down to a reasonable size.

I have put this on hold, since the workspace i was using to work on this is now occupied by my work laptop for the foreseeable future.

Death Goddess Izanami is a sculpture based on Izanami-no-Mikoto, the creation goddess and deity of the underworld as chronicled in Shinto mythology.
The bold designs of Axis Mundi Games and the neoclassical virtuosity of CA Sculpts have merged to bring forth a boutique product designed for the most demanding collectors.
Death Goddess Izanami is a model that focuses on emotions as no model in the industry has done before. The sad majesty and woeful glory of a tormented goddess, the divine terror and eternal anguish of the departed, mere phantasms of their former conscience... all brought to life by a sculpture devised to match the style and the strength of neoclassical statues as never dared before.
The aim of this kickstarter is to produce a limited collector's run called the Fukashi Sekai Run 不可視世界. All models forming part of theFukashi Sekai Run will he numbered and signed.

      Story
Signum Workshop is a division of Signum Games company that specializes in the creation of high-quality fantasy miniatures in STL format for self-printing.
Signum Games have been creating and casting fantasy resin miniatures for several years, and our miniatures have a lot of admirers from all over the world. 3D printers are nowadays becoming more and more popular, therefore we decided to join the market and make our miniatures more accessible to you.
The imagination of our artists and modellers have no borders, and sometimes there are just too many new characters (or variations of one character) for us to be able to cast all at once in resin. But we don't want new characters to just gather dust on the hard drive and wait for their time to come. After all, now we finally can share all our new products with you!
All of our miniatures have 32mm scale, which was not a suitable scale for some board games. All our models in files will be pre-assembled and have an option of individual parts.
You can learn all about the quality of our models and to print files simply by clicking on the link and download a free model!
The Signum Workshop project is only at the very beginning of its journey, so we will be happy to see your support, questions, advice, and comments on Patreon!
By supporting us on Patreon, every month you will get access to a new set of STL files of our newest miniatures.
        Dear friends,
this set introduces 4 factions that will appear on our Patreon in the future.
You will meet Plague fighters from the far East, proud warriors from the hot South, harsh warriors from the cold North, and adventurers from the mountains of the West.

A new Kickstarter from Durgin Paint Forge coming late September / early October.
Wasn't a backer of the previous ones, but I don't think there's been any issues.

They've been working away at this one for a while, so most of the minis have already been previewed on their blog.

I backed a previous KS these people did and even though it had some struggles due to manufacturers giving them problems, they still delivered and had a good quality product. It's resin and comes either painted or unpainted.

Some of the stuff here is generic, but it's worth a look.
