Deep in the caverns of the Earth we can see Nanaari on her Zeek, where is she going?
What is her purpose?
Do we really want to find out?
Good day everyone, I completed my Perils of the Underworld diorama. I changed the name simple because there is a trademark on the word Underdark. Here are the pictures, do not hesitate to leave any critiques as I would like to improve anything that does not look right. The building WIP can be found here and the painting WIP here. To realize this diorama, I used Reaper Miniatures model and MSP paint only.
The whole idea of this project started with the gemstone the gnome is holding in her left hand. I converted 03082 Ingrid the female gnome sculpted by Derek Schubert as a svirfneblin prospector. (Svirfneblin is the name given to deep gnome in the Forgotten Realms lore). She is exploring the Underworld in search of precious minerals. She's riding her faithful familiar the 14453 hunting cat sculpted by Sandra Garrity. They are taken as prey by an ambushed 03602 stone lurker sculpted by Kevin Williams. There is also a 02018 bat from the familiar pack 1 hanging from its perch and several mushrooms I sculpted in green stuff to complete the scene.
The mushroom I sculpted are all found in the Forgotten Realms lore, the blue ones are called nightlight fungus, the round ones on the ground at the back of the display are called timmask, the pink ones are glowcap mushroom and the ones growing on the roots are ripplebark. It took me about 90 hours of work to do this diorama, not including the time I spent preparing the WIP. Enjoy!
Xenoplanetary mining is a tricky business. Mining in general is dangerous, and unknown worlds are exactly that. So the dark spaces of an unexplored globe could contain anything in their dripping, lightless, clammy halls. Green Team is about to discover this.

And then--a muted slicky, sticky noise, like a the sound of a wet carpet and a spoon stirring jam. There's life down here!

Inquisitive, fearless, and *very large* life. Very...mucoid, too. Look out, there, cadet!
More soft, clammy, rippling noises. We are Not Alone.
And Excavation Specialist Torelli in particular is not alone. By the time he hears the hiss of digestive juices on his suit and feels the soft inexorable flesh enfolding him, it is already too late.
Sometimes the Company just isn't paying a spacer enough to stick around!
After several hours of muted squelching and gurgling, once every scrap of organic matter and soluble minerals have been absorbed, the worms finally move away from the small heap of metal fragments and tooth enamel that was once Torelli. And in the dark silence that follows the worms are again left, as they have been for ages, alone. Waiting. And hungry.
I love these disgusting sculpts. Great for Underdark and spacefuture alike, they are horribly organic, all sphincters and flaps and folds. They will engulf an adventurer. It is a soft death, but not painless. Something about that eye makes them look less brainless than one might think.
