Getting to know you January 2020

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the January 2020 thread, I thought it would be fun to dedicate this to our many Forum friends, choosing one victim, err, honoree each day.

The rules as they currently stand ( ...should you chose to accept them... )

1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.

1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, are likely chomping at the bit to step in and post one...

2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
3. Questions will typically be posted between  06:00 hours and 09:00 hours CET. (Central European Time UYC +1)***

3.5 (...that is 23:00 to 02:00 hours RST Reaper Standard Time UTC -6)***

4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me or one of the other quisitioners.
5. You do not have to answer every question to play.
6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to respond (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
7. Weekend questions will often take the form of two day quests, running Saturday to Sunday.

***CLEARLY I WILL ON OCCASION BEND RULES 3. And 3.5.

Question for January 1, 2020, dedicated to/inspired by @Glitterwolf

Did someone surprise you with an unexpected bit of joy [last] year?

Yes.

(Her name was Cadance.)

(And like Cindy-Loo Who, she was only about Two.)

This year is too young for surprises...although Fuzzy is about 6-8 hours in.

Yes, and it was from OneBoot!

She surprised me with a Reapercon Swag bag along with several of those ribbons that forumites hand out and collect, my very first ribbons, and a Reaper paint bottle pokey stick that she also collected for me.

Thank you very much again OneBoot! It was very kind of you and much appreciated! ::D:

This year? Not yet!

2019? Hobby Related:

Just yesterday I received a wonderful package from @knarthex he even managed to write the Holiday wishes in Dutch!

He got me a lot of basing stuff and candy and a wonderful USAF Tie Clasp.

Earlier in 2019 I got a wonderful Owlbear from ..well you @Corsair! And a lot of great help/advice when I needed it.

In that same period ( I was having some big troubles and worries) @Kangaroorex send me a care package, got a wonderful painted chibi dragon and a Ral Partha Ki'Rinn and Asian Dragon that I painted for my Nippon Project.

And some candy as well.

When I was working on my Welcome to the Jungle Diorama, I had mentioned that I would love to find some Cambrian period animals and other creepy crawlies.

I knew a Toob Animal existed but that one was unavailable in  the Netherlands or at ridiculous prices when ordered abroad or through evilbay.

To my surprise @strawhat send me two Toob Animal sets, one with the Cambrian ones and one with all sorts Cavern/Sea Critters.

I used the Centipede for my Welcome to the Jungle piece, rest will find their way into my Lost World, Shifting Sands and Beneath the Waves Projects.

I hope I didn't forget anyone, a year is long.

There are wonderful people on this forum and I'm not the only one who surprises people with a little gift or card every now and then.

I have received several nice gifts over the last few years since I joined this forum, and I like to surprise others as well.

Not Hobby related, my new Major surprised us all with a lottery ticket ( no luck though..) it was a nice touch.

And my girl, vixens and Brutus give me unexpected bits of joy almost daily.

Yes, I was able to visit with an Aunt & Uncle, whom I haven't seen in 4-5 years, for my birthday.

Too soon man.

My year is barely 9 hours old. Unless you count being able to go to bed right after the festivities a joyful thing.

[P.S. It kind of was, I was tired.]

If you're talking about the one that just ended, yes, there were several.

If you're talking about the one that has just begun, no. I spent  about 7 and 1/2 hours of it asleep. (Although having the day off and being able to sleep late was nice.)

I view every day as a gift. What I do with it is my way of saying thank you.

I have been surprised by daily acts of kindness often from people I don't know. It restores my faith in humanity's basic goodness.

Last year? Yes. Many.

This year? Uh... not yet? But it's early. And I'm only on coffee #2.

If you mean 2019 then no. Not a good year for me but could have been worse. No serious crises but a lot of stress and worry over work and money. Glad it's over and hoping the next year is more average. If you're talking 2020, that's classified. :poke:
