Question for 17 January 2020 today's victim, err, honoree  @Unruly

What is your favorite leftover for breakfast?

I don't really do leftovers for breakfast, it's more kind of a lunch thing in this house. Pizza is a favourite though- day old reheated pizza dipped in sour cream and chive goo is amazing ^_^

Question for 16 January 2020, in honor of @Rahz

Do you have a "lucky" or "unlucky" set of dice? And what do you do with them?

The only “lucky” dice I have are the ones I’ve had since my high-school D&D days.  They aren’t lucky in themselves, it’s just that I consider it lucky that I still have most of them.

I do believe in luck, though.  How else can I explain the success of my enemies?

Cold pizza is the best.  Re-heating it in the microwave is an abomination, even when dampening it first.  Just the act of warming it a second time does something I don’t like to the cheese.

Second best leftover breakfast is macaroni salad, or potato salad.  Just not with coffee.

Speaking of him, I haven't seen a post from him for a while.  Hope the college crowd isn't being too stupid to him.

As for favourite leftovers? Stew that's sitting in the crock pot on the "keep warm" function.  Soooooo tasty.

...Hubby may or may not be incentivising me to go down to butcher tomorrow in stupidly cold weather in order to pick up stew meat.... That'll be a long bus ride...

Weekend Quizzles! 18 January 2020 recognizing @Lord of the Dish Pit

Do you receive unexpected visits from animals not of your household?

19 January 2020 question thanks to @Erifnogard

If so, how do you "welcome" them?

We have had a few critters other than Damnit the Cat & Sassy the Princess (Dog) drop by. The one small snake & two tarantulas where gently reintroduced to the Wild. The Invisible Lizards go unnoticed...they think they are invisible & we go along with that.

only rats and squirrels.

depending on which time, I either set traps, or call the land lord and make them set traps.

Field mice.  Feed them unhealthy food.  (I know it is not nice, but they ruined my Adobe Sheriffs Office by using it as an outhouse.)

Not since we've moved.

The previous place had visits to the yard of assorted birds (everything from the neighbours chickens up to bald eagles...who apparently like chicken....), squirrels, chipmunks,  skunks, groundhogs,  muskrats, outdoor "house" cats, bobcats, deer and black bears.  I think that's about everything....

They were pretty much left to themselves but often photographed if possible. Whenever the bears visited we'd "enjoy" cleaning up the compost they hauled out of the compost bin.

Indoors we only ever had the occasional mouse, which was trapped and disposed of.

Yes. We've seen chipmunks, deer, a skunk (glad he moved along quickly), groundhogs, rabbits, and what might have been a fox (it was dark out and the critter was moving pretty fast, but I think I saw a reddish coat).

Watch them, make appropriate 'aww, how cute' noises, perhaps try for a picture.

Now, unexpected visits from 2 legged animals is an entirely different story....

There is a neighbourhood rabbit that goes about his business here instead of running away from everything, he has zero flumphs to give about anything.

Usually when we see each other, we exchange gang signs and go on our way.

Had a splendid grass snake set up a temporary home in our larder a couple of years ago while it shed its skin:

It wasn't really a question of welcoming it, it was rather short-tempered and hissed extravagantly whenever we went to get a tin of beans off the shelf.

All the mice left us in rapid order!

I live in a pet friendly building. As such I made an effort to get to know every animal on my floor for scheduling reasons. I don't need dogs barking at 2am when I get home from work, I'd rather they know who I am by smell and that I'm allowed to be here so no reason to make a fuss.

This leads to all of the animals getting really excited whenever they see me in the corridor or outside or just around.

One time somebody left their door open and thought their great dane wouldn't wander out into the hall to stretch his legs  So there's this great dane waiting in the hallway as I turn the corner. He's a great dane, he's made of chill, so I just lead him into a bend in the corridor where he's not blocking the entire hallway and I hang out with him for a good ten minutes until his people get back and I get to hear the guy's excuse of "I thought he'd wait for me"  Now I have a great dane who, whenever we meet, will sit on my feet and demand pats :B):

There's the little dog who seems to hate everybody to the tune of his owner is always tense and apologetic and completely flabbergasted that I get tail wags and I give pets and this dog doesn't hate me.

There's the old man with the fluffy dog who will stand up and beg with both paws every time we meet and the old man seems both confused and happy that his dog likes someone who pets back.

I haven't met the cats on my floor. I know they're there, they meow. But as indoor apartment cats they're not allowed out therefore I can't meet them

Aside from the feral cats, the odd stray dog, a few possums and raccoons, fifteen or so different species of birds and a rare fox or deer, no.  It's pretty quiet here in the city.  They do see bears to the south once in a while and there was a lost moose spotted over in Kansas last month.

Mostly we ignore each other.

Yes. In town we have a lot of skunks, mule deer, feral cats and garter snakes. Generally they are ignored unless they touch anything of the wife's.  On the farm we have some of nearly eveyrthing possible for the northern prairies. It's open warfare on the mice in the house and mostly peaceful with all of the rest.

Good morning 15January 2020, today we salute our illustrious Mascot @buglips*the*goblin!

What is the oldest paint you have in your "bag"?

Currently? Nothing all that old. I gave @buglips*the*goblin a bunch of old paints at ReaperCon, since I knew he'd appreciate them more than I would. I've got an old GW paint bottle or two kicking around, from... the early 90's I guess? Never opened. Last time I checked they were still liquid.

Mice. They aren't welcome. They are really good at avoiding the traps I put out though.
