It is a time of unrest among the 28mm miniatures. All of Jasper's WIPs seem to focus on 10mm BSRs and 3D printing.  Rumor is rampant. Has Jasper forsaken his hordes of unpainted 28

Worked on some colours for the Rebel Veterans.   I mostly like them, but the gloves need to be a little different I think.....might use Leather White as the highlight, but needs a

Got the last two speeder bikes put together.  Also assembled one other little Imperial unit.....   The "head" is still removable to make priming and painting easier.   Up next

Interesting thing with General Veers, I'd always thought he was in greys.  I'd even primed him grey expecting to paint him grey.

But that seems to have all had to do with how they filmed him, or edited him or something.  I pictured him something like this:

Which looks pretty grey.

But this is an actual archive photo that they took at the set for their reference library:

Which is way greener.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but man there is a TON of information on absolutely everything from Star Wars.....

As far my progress, I got some more stuff prepped last Friday and put a wash on my current figs. Then my shoulder and neck went on Saturday (I was supposed to have my regularly scheduled massage Thursday but it got rescheduled due to my MT hurting her shoulder). It has been really spasm-y and shaky so I've only been about to do some gluing and pinning of other figures, no new painting.  Hopefully that will get fixed up later today so I can maybe get back to painting tomorrow.
I'll get some pics posted later.....

Shoulder and neck are feeling better-ish, but I decided to give them another day before trying to paint.  Instead I finished up getting stuff ready for priming.....

So on the left are 2 boxes of Imperial Specialists (medical droid, astromech, officer and comms specialist), then another pack of bases. They'll be primed in black, as will the pieces of the measuring tools on the shelf at the top.

I wonder if I have enough bottle caps to do another 32 pack.....I have more than 32 miniatures just sitting here, not counting the ones already primed.....

On the right are 3 units of stormtroopers, 1 unit of snowtroopers and a unit of scout troopers. They will, of course, be primed in white.

At this point all I have left to assemble of Imperials is 2 units of Royal Guards, I unit of Imperial Special Forces, and the TX-225 GAVw tank.  I should probably message the store tomorrow about a few things......:poke:

Primed in white last night.

Hopefully will get the black done tonight.  I did find enough bottle caps for another pack of bases....

Decided to paint at lunch today.  This is what the two looked like after the wash I did....way back on Friday.

I decided to try things out on the officer, so she was the focus for lunch.

I think that's looking pretty decent for her uniform.  I just need to do the face and hair.

I see lots of white in your future!

You’ll have to post an army picture when you get those scouts and troopers painted.

Sooooo much white!

I'll likely do a group shot at the end of this year with what I have painted then.  And then another when I (in theory) finish the army (at least whatever I own to that point).

Considering I have 7 units complete (Vader, 2 storms, 1 snow, 1 scout, 2 units of bikes) and, ummm, err, 25 units ( 3 storms, 1 snow, 1 scouts, 1 bikes, 1 AT-ST, Veers, 1 E-Web, Boba Fett, Palpatine, 3 royal guards, Jrennic, 1 death troopers, 1 TX-225, Bossk, 1 shores, 2 dewbacks, Iden Versio and ID10, and 3 imperial special forces)  (not counting specialists and unit expansions) waiting it could be while before I get the army "done".

Especially as I still have a list of units I want more of (mostly snows, scouts, shores and death troopers).

I have mentioned lately I have a "completionist" issue? :poke:

I've made good progress on my commanders, especially considering my shoulder is feeling "less than stable" and I had to do eyes.

Both are pretty much done, with just the bases left to finish.

Had to find something dark to put behind to get my phone to not adjust for all the white paint caps in the background.

I can honestly say these are the best eyes of done for the Imperials so far.  Also the ONLY eyes.....

Should be able to finish up the bases this evening and maybe start on something else.  Just have to decide between Palpatine (which should be pretty easy, but then eyes) or one of those units I've got primed.

May have to play with the list builder and see what I could use on Tuesday most.  we're supposed to try a full 800 point game, which is just about everything I've got painted,  plus grenades for everyone!!  ::D:

2 completed and ready for play.

General Veers, ready to hide in the back and call in artillery bombardments on the opposition.

And the generic Imperial Officer (from the Imperial Specialists box). She can either be added as a stand alone commander or be added to an Imperial unit (that has a personnel slot) as a leader.

So, as I'm using the spots on the bases to indicate unit, she gets to be the first model for me to test out the mousebot markers on . If she is a stand alone commander she doesn't get a mousebot.  The same if I embed her in a unit that already has white marks (the first unit I paint gets white, btw).  But if I add her to my blue stormtroopers (for example) she gets a blue marked mousebot. There is a magnet in the bottom of the mousebot and another stuck under the base and that seems to hold nicely. None of that is strictly needed but I like the clarity and besides, mousebots ::D:.

Next batch:

My 2nd unit of Snowtroopers, the two Snowtrooper crew for the E-Web, and a Scout sniper team (sniper model and 1 regular).

They have just had their slathering of contrast Apothecary White. Will hopefully get the drybrushing done later.

I don't think I can get any of them done in time for Tuesday's game but should be able to get them all done for the game two weeks after that....

Drybrushing got done this morning.

And the Soft tone on the cloth of the Snowtroopers got done this afternoon (I have the day off).

The heavy's arms are down below... got cropped out.

That's likely it for today, tonight is D&D.  Might do some assembly and mold line cleaning, but that's about it.  I can't paint while playing.

Found enough time to get the base Creamy Ivory over the Soft Tone on the cloth.

After work tomorrow I have a 3 day weekend.  Hoping to get these 9 plus the actual e-web done by the end of it.

And figure out how much everything costs after the big "adjustment" to the rules released tonight....

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....
No, a longer time ago.....in continuation of a "fine" tradition, we will now move backwards in time to the era of The Clone Wars.
(Hey hey, relax, don't leave.  No no, we aren't going to talk about THAT movie.  There will be no mention of trade embargos or senate politics.  Well, no other mention.....
To be completely honest, there may be references to it though....sorry.  But they did just come out with a Maul fig, and it is the version from THAT movie.....)
So, this will be a continuation of the previous WIP on Star Wars Legion.  New year, new WIP, oh and new core box.  My wife got me the Clone Wars core for Christmas (I MIGHT have hinted a few.....hundred.......times).
As I'm already painting way too much white armor (which I'll still be painting (forever)), I'm focusing on the Droids.  Yes I know they are called the Separatists Alliance, but Droids is easier to spell and you all know what I mean.
(Note, if you do not know what I'm referring to then we can wait while you pop off and watch Star Wars Episodes II and III.  Oh and the 7 seasons of the animated Clone Wars series (not to be confused with Star Wars: Clone Wars, which was a 3 season animated series and is now considered non-canonical).  All are available on Disney+ btw.  While there you might as well watch the 4 seasons of Rebels, as Sabine, Clan Wren and Kallus will be showing up at some point. You should probably watch the 2 seasons of The Mandalorian too if you haven't yet too.  Not that I'll probably be painting anything from there, well I do have some stls....but the reason to watch it is because it is awesome!!!)
I'll be continuing to work on my Imperials, but I'll also be starting on my Droid army, which I'll be painting primarily with contrast paint, doing some wear and damage (unlike my pristine Imps) and basing fairly simply with just some sand or gravel or something on the standard bases (we'll see for sure when I get the first unit done).
      So starting out:

I assembled 2 B1s, and glued together two units of Imperial Royal Guard, which I'd prepped quite a while ago.  The Guards are the old plastic so were quickly superglued together. They are only 3 pieces each. They'll get pins for their feet soon.
The droids are the new hard plastic so they recommend plastic glue.  FYI they still need to superglued to the bases apparently. as the bases are a different plastic.
The droids come in 8 parts...each.  Yep that's a lot of very small, very skinny parts.  I only dropped a couple. At least I found them all. (parts are 2 legs, 2 arms (one with the gun attached), body, backpack, and two pieces of head.  Somehow they needed to make the head 2 pieces.....)
Since I hadn't put them together before I took my time trying not to mess up.  I still managed to, a bit.

Crouching guy took some damage from a bit of plastic glue on my thumb while trying to align the arms.  As I'm planning to make these guys a little beat up and worn, not big deal.
It's late and these are fiddly, so that's as far as I got tonight.  I should be able to crank out most of a unit (note, the B1 unit comes with 9 figures....you start with 6 in the unit, then can optionally add an extra troop, and one of two heavy weapon options) tomorrow hopefully as long as the snow storm doesn't take out power or something equally annoying.
      Roger Roger.

So this is my year in review.  It was a strange year, what with working from home since early March.  I initially thought that would mean I'd paint more, but after spending 8+ hours every day sitting 3 feet from my painting desk but working, it really didn't work out that way. Eventually I was able to get some stuff painted so things are working better now.
At the start of the year I decided I wanted to not just pick up some random Star Wars Legion stuff to paint, but to actually play the game.  Unfortunately everything shut down before I could watch a game at the LFGS.
After I got enough prepped at home, my very patient and understanding wife agreed to play some small games so I could sort out the rules.  It must be reasonably fun for her, we just played a game on Monday....
Eventually the store opened up for play again and I got in about a half dozen games before the latest wave hit and put a stop to that.  If all goes well we should be back to playing in a couple weeks.
      As far as painting:

That was my output for the year.  I count it as 52 figures (51 bases but the e-Web has two Snowtroopers on the base.....). Not bad at all for me, especially considering it took me two months to paint the first unit of Stormtroopers and I had a big slump during the hot part of the summer where my output was nil.
As you can probably tell, I play Imperials. And, because I'm using the premium bases and painting them, I can only field what I've painted.  So I've been pushing on painting Imperials.  The only rebel unit I've painted is the Rebel Veterans.  The LFGS rain a painting contest online during the shutdown and I figured painting yet more white and black wasn't going to impress....
      Here is the breakdown:
      1 box of Rebel Veterans
      2 units of Stromtroopers
      1 unit of Scout Troopers
      2 units of Snowtroopers
      1 e-WEB heavy blaster team
      2 units of Speederbikes
Darth Vader (the starter box edition)
      General Veers
and the Imperial Officer and FX-9 Medical Droid from the Imperial Specialists Personnel Expansion.
Looking forward to 2021 I still have a lot of Imperials left to paint. Luckily most are assembled, some are primed and a number of Stormtroopers already have a wash and drybrush done.
This is good because I got the Clone Wars starter for Christmas (awesome wife strikes again!) so I'll be starting to assemble Droids soon....

(Yes, the title is a throwback to a contest I ran years ago on here....no I'm not running another one, with today's shipping rates, ugh......)
This is where I'm going to work on 3D printed terrain pieces for Star Wars Legion, most of which currently are going to be spaceships.  Because why use generic terrain when you can be shooting Rebel Scum hiding behind X-wings and the like?
      Up first is this:

All the FDM bits are there, but most of the resin bits (guns, ramp, interior) are still in a bin waiting to have their supports removed and cured.
I figured I should get a thread started as maybe that will get me over that initial hurdle of actually starting.  This has all been printed for a week or two and just sitting there....plus I'm gonna need that airbrush booth for other things sooner or later....
I will, of course, be attempting to make this look somewhat like the original episode 5 version, not some retconned prequel sillyness.
Now to go listen to some Prism.

This morning I started on one of my Mandalorians.
Started with base coats on the grey and green and then a dark wash. Then picked out the leather items and washed them as well. Then a first coat on the cape and base. Oh, and base coated and washed the metal too.

Up next is Cad Bane. However, first some bonus Battle Droids. These guys painted up very quickly.
