So I needed a break from all the Bones 4 minis. And dug into the Bones 3 stash for variations sake.

I found one of my old modules -The Village of Hommlet, and spent some time reading. Ah, The Moathouse! Brings back memories!

And I got inspired to do the Bandits from the Bones 3 Stoneskull expansion, as they were similar in style to the ones I recently painted. And to flesh out the band, I added a couple of other Bones 3 minis that were in the same drawer, and that I thought might fit in a band of robbers.

One quick paint job later:

Just add the bones 4 ones to this lot, and there we have a goodly group of bandits.  Or a unit of irregulars / rabble or whatnot in some wargame or other.

      Bones 4 - Townsfolk: Cooper #147

      Here is my most recent Townsfolk figure from the Bones 4 core set. He is also available in metal (SKU 03859). Two things I tried differently on this one were 1. no under-painting and 2. letting go. I usually apply an coat of German Camouflage Black-Brown over the whole figure to start when working with Bones. I know it has been shown many times that Bones are designed to go from blister to paint but I wanted to check it out for myself. I just went straight to the base colours, shading and highlighting with no issues.
       
      The second was more difficult. This was me telling myself to trust myself and the figure and not overwork the paint. I had to remind myself to pull back when I started thinking, "maybe I should add another blend or work that edge some more..." At first it was a little uncomfortable but after awhile everything sort of fell into place and I am happy with the results.

      Maledrakh's Grymwatch, Warhammer Underworlds Ghouls

      The Ghouls, aka the Flesh-Eater Court faction's warband was the first to be released seperately for Beastgrave, the third season of the Warhammer Underworld game, apart from the warbands in the Beastgrave game set that is.
      As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to have them. Still, it took me several months after building and undercoating them until I got around to actually painting them. Much like most minis I compulsively buy. I still have first and second season warbands to paint...and most of a ghoul king army...
      I did these in the same sitting as the Reaper Bones Hungering Dead. Luckily, ghouls can be really quickly painted with good results.
      These I had undercoated black with white zenithal when I first bought them, before standing around gathering dust for a few months.
