Maledrakh's 77574 Dwarf Royal Weaponmaster

Recommended Posts

So I needed a break from all the Bones 4 minis. And dug into the Bones 3 stash for variations sake.

I found one of my old modules -The Village of Hommlet, and spent some time reading. Ah, The Moathouse! Brings back memories!

And I got inspired to do the Bandits from the Bones 3 Stoneskull expansion, as they were similar in style to the ones I recently painted. And to flesh out the band, I added a couple of other Bones 3 minis that were in the same drawer, and that I thought might fit in a band of robbers.

One quick paint job later:

I want your money...and your life!

From the "Dwarf Kings Companions" add-on set, this is the

Just add the bones 4 ones to this lot, and there we have a goodly group of bandits.  Or a unit of irregulars / rabble or whatnot in some wargame or other.

Still plonking away at the Bones 4 Core Set, Here is the Dire Boar from the "Dire Consequences" subset.

      Pumbaa or Piglet. You decide.

Drybrushed from a black undercoat. Greys on the bottom part, browns on the top. Oink oink.

The Ghouls, aka the Flesh-Eater Court faction's warband was the first to be released seperately for Beastgrave, the third season of the Warhammer Underworld game, apart from the warbands in the Beastgrave game set that is.
As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to have them. Still, it took me several months after building and undercoating them until I got around to actually painting them. Much like most minis I compulsively buy. I still have first and second season warbands to paint...and most of a ghoul king army...
I did these in the same sitting as the Reaper Bones Hungering Dead. Luckily, ghouls can be really quickly painted with good results.
These I had undercoated black with white zenithal when I first bought them, before standing around gathering dust for a few months.

Another monstrous growth by the Plague of the Warpath universe: The Aberration. This is what happens when the Plague's forced mutation/growth of the victim goes wrong...a blood-crazed, unthinking juggernaught killing machine results.

You know the drill: You are moving slowy down the darkened spacebase corridor, flickering lights illuminating splashes here and there, wisps of smoke drifting through the processed atmosphere. Everything is quiet, calm but ominous music wafts from somewhere in the background. Cold sweat dripping down your neck, out there in the darkness....something awaits.
Suddenly, a loud crash and tearing sound howls through the darkness, the lights go crazy in time with the sudden djent-metal music that inexplicably pounds in your ears as an inhuman roar resounds all around! Straight out of nowhere the massive monster lunges at you as your twitching, honed reflexes barely let you get out of the way in time as the demonic beast barrels past. You fire your shotgun dry, then you pull out the chainsaw...

More from the Bones 4 core set: we have arrived at the subset "Hungering Dead":

Yup, these are your archetypical ghouls. Flesh eating horrors out looking for some nosh. Gnawers of bone, eaters of the dead. Which begs the question: do they count as cannibals if they no longer are human?
Here is my very fast method of painting ghouls and similar effectively:
These started out with a solid black undercoat. Then each was drybrushed several times with different beige tones, such as Citadel Ionrach Skin and Karak Stone. Then they were given washes on the undersides with shades such as Citadel Athonian Camoshade and Team Yankee Ordnance Shade. When dry, they were lightly drybrushed again with lighter fleshtones up to almost pure white, keeping to the top surfaces which leaves a kind of zenithal effect. The base rock were done in dark greengrey, drybrushed with yellowy sand, and then lighter drybrushed with offwhite. Black eye sockets with a white dot for the eye lends a sinister look to them.
Dot in some details here and there, bases and done.  I did these ghouls and the Grymwatch in a single sitting, taking breaks for drying time only.

He brought his very own packed lunch.

      #124:

Subject #B4C-124 displays elongated limbs on a gaunt frame, and a foul disposition when peckish.

      #125:

Obviously the hero of the group.

A little too fresh for our tastes...

This is a Dwarf Lord Ragmir by Scibor monstrous miniatures, I got this for my nephew awhile back and just finished it. This thing had a lot of good details, and a cool base even if it was a little small, which is no longer an issue since I just mounted him on his stock base and then a metal knockout from an electrical box.

      Thanks for looking!
