Welcome to Getting to Know You, .February 2020 Edition.

The rules as they currently stand ( we all know most of you rebellious lot will ignore most of it, but one can try)

1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.

1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...

2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
3. Questions are going to be posted between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours CET. ( Central European Time)
4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
7. Weekend questions will usually take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.

I do love seeing Folks dressed up for Cons & such.

Other than once being in an enactment group, I haven't cosplayed.

I think cosplay is a pretty cool aspect of the the whole gaming hobby. It takes talent to make em (if they are homemade) & such + I've seen some really nice ones over the years.

This is about as close to cosplay your gonna get with me. If I can make it down to RCon this year, I'll prob break out the Dread Pirate Roberts gear due to the theme but "the Squirrel" may have to show up as well. Note this pic is from '17 RCon taken by @TaleSpinner. I wore it the next year & in the photos I'm barefeet due to being at the Embassy. (I tend to not wear shoes there, or at least wear sandals & take them off)

Like to see yes.

Do it myself, no.

I kind of make any clothing look bad.

I think it's wonderful and I'm always delighted to see it. Amazed at the inventiveness and skill shown by people who make their costumes, and the sheer chutzpah in going out in them.

Here's me Cosplaying a South African (on Hlobane Mountain):

Cosplay? Not really.

Unless you count SCA, which I did for several years moderately seriously. But that seems different to me.

Now LARPing, I used to do that all the time. And it seems different from ("different to" for our Old World readers, note the difference from the usage in the previous paragraph :poke:) whatever SCA is. ("Historical reenactment" doesn't really capture SCA, for me.)

I too, am amazed by the creativity of those who cosplay, never done it myself. Of course, I could do an old, fat, grouchy troll pretty easy...

I enjoy seeing cosplay within the right context. Fan conventions or Halloween being the primary examples.

Last time I wore any sort of costume was at my first ReaperCon in 2016 as a cultist.

No pics to my knowledge, either of me or other cosplayers.

I do like to see cosplay, but I have never done it myself.

My interest in it really grew these past five years after finding a channel on Youtube called Punished Props (which they have since renamed to Punished Props Academy, as they successfully monetized it into crafting tutorials). Bill Doran made such amazing props that it got me wanting to make every cool weapon from every movie/game I've seen and mount it on my wall... but I haven't started that yet.

Other than dressing up for Halloween parties years ago, no I don’t cosplay. No pics from that time sadly. Before smart phone cameras.

I do like to see people cosplay at Cons however.

As someone who worked at a major thrift store chain where Hallowe'en was our biggest season, there were always plenty of opportunities for cosplay:

Myself as Galen Marek, Vader's apprentice, with concept art for comparison. (FYI, the wraps were a total pain in the flumph. They kept untying themselves when my wife and I were walking all over the Calgary Fan Expo.

The 8th Doctor, with an inadvertent Whoception. Easy costume to get into.

Professor Oobleck from RWBY, with ever-present coffee cup.

Really, this one needs no description.

I do like to see Cosplay.

Never done it myself though. I thought about doing it when I used to go to anime cons, but I was always drawn to super elaborate outfits (usually of the magical princess variety) that were way beyond what someone new to the hobby could possibly pull off, so it never happened.

I like to see cosplay.  The large local con here has a lot of it.  I don't really get involved myself, not because I  don't want to, but mostly because I procrastinate on getting my cosplay started or pulled together.  I do have a RenFaire outfit, so that might be stretched far enough to fit.
