The Foxes Who Yip at the Moon (WhiteWulfe's HaqqIslam/Infinity)

Progress from Sunday that I keep forgetting to post... *whistles innocently*

Paints used: Mission Models Primer (grey, as well as black).

IMG_20200503_200904.thumb.jpg.8d78296eafb71451c9028d5f0ca7f9ed.jpg

^Overall shot of the assembly desk.  Wound up washing most of the minis I had on the desk, although not all of them wound up getting primed.  For now, I've held off on priming the support box and some of the characters, because, well, I don't want to have too too many in the "omg please give to us paint!" stage...  Well, that and the Beyond Coldfront Ariadna minis too...

IMG_20200503_200948.thumb.jpg.c5c4c749aef5475141edbd3d013c5da1.jpg

^Hassassin Bahram starter box.  I love just how "on the prowl/hunt" the Ayyar looks (back left), and how defiantly "just give up now, so we don't have to slaughter you" the Muyib is (front right)

IMG_20200503_201008.thumb.jpg.fe6ec716435fd7bf6f0f55370850340d.jpg

^A combination of Ragiks (front left, front right), Bashi Bazouks, and a Tuareg hacker.  Yes, I like my paratroopers and jump packs, is it obvious enough? ^_^

IMG_20200503_201030.thumb.jpg.d9689f7f5505c97851ded6bdfa80800f.jpg

^The Ariadna starter (with "exclusive" Ratnik) for hubby.  Honestly still can't decide if they're going to get their own thread or not.  Yes, I pretty much bought that set because I wanted the Ratnik, and definitely wanted to paint it...

Time to move some furniture around, and then PAINT! ^_^

More progress!

Paints used: 9402 Heraldic Red, 9417 Void Blue, and 9436 Bleached Linen

IMG_20200505_203121.thumb.jpg.18c2178b577f2a96efa473e771f59fbc.jpg

Drybrushed with Bleached Linen, and then started working on some aspects of the Ratnik's armour, as well as the Scout's cloak...

IMG_20200505_203224.thumb.jpg.6ec9f2db24f5a2ed409b0b84e1c4e226.jpg

Heraldic Red to bring out a red more like what I think I'll be rolling with...

I haven’t got to playin three years but I’ve been buying these models anyway because they’re gorgeous. Just bought the JSA army box because I wanted just the motorcycle cycle rider from Dura Dura copy.

enjoy!

That JSA box is on my list, but I haven't picked it up, partially due to having a decent amount of backlog already - a ton of Haqq, a decent amount of Ariadna, then there's the Yu Jing and Aleph from their respective operations boxes too.. And that isn't counting the minis from Code One Operation:Kaldstrom, which I'll be picking up at some point in the near future.

That biker is one big reason I want that set though...

I haven't played since, uhm, the BattleTech Clan Invasion Kickstarter was still live, where the warcor running the intro to Infinity game wound up buying new dice because the ones he brought wound up trying to (and mostly succeeding at) kill off his guys way too quickly.

I was intending on getting further on the Red Veil minis, but, uhm....  Not much progress wound up happening on them, but I did wind up painting others a fair bit...

IMG_20200510_203623.thumb.jpg.5c52959638ea421cad51fc2f070f1bd5.jpg

Started blocking in colours on my Bashi Bazouks, and since I had some of the Photonic Orange / Heraldric Red mix still left, my Ayyar got a decent amount of orange himself...

So...  Some things just weren't going the way I wanted them to, and last night I decided to say screw it, and decided to try out my Citadel paints, specifically Mephiston Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet, and Wild Rider Red, with the last one being noticeably more orange than red but still...  And yeah, let's just say I got a decent amount of stuff done....

Heads up, there's a decent amount of pics this update - I'll portion them out into a few spoilers for those on mobile, and to make it so those on a lower screen resolution aren't going to have to scroll a ton afterwards.

First up, we have the Ayyar and 2xBashi Bazouks with submachine guns...

Spoiler

P1010903-Apr14Quick.thumb.jpg.468461603f4ce866b8d6085f5ee9d2ff.jpgP1010904-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.5f4df2807ceae4dfe21edb1a8ee849cc.jpgP1010905-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.35068bc8b28135dafbf890e2075e887e.jpg

So first and foremost, we have the Ayyar with Viral Rifle.  Deliciously evil decadence those rifles can be, and he just looks awesome.  Yup, I'm also working on having his eyes try to glow a bit.  We shall see how that fully plays out in the long run.  The big question though is what to go with for the backpack and wires.  The two outer ones I hit with Blade Silver if I remember correctly, but I'm not quite feeling that...

P1010912-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.98386db87171e4f70f19023a6ae5636e.jpgP1010914-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.d73bc69fe7f91e9331edd607a2a7d0f4.jpg

^Next up we have the first Bashi Bazouk with submachine gun.  I'm seriously thinking some sort of burning hot theme to the blade, even if it's "just" a close combat weapon.  She's still twelve points of mayhem on the table.

P1010915-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.f330551c4fcdf7b03d7aac03ae77dca1.jpgP1010917-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.c219677eb22aa27a0c101f9e8c6701fb.jpg

^Second submachinegun Bashi Bazouk.  Changed up the wings to make her a little more different, and as for their colours kind of had this "riding on fiery wings of death" to it, or such, and since they're known for being some rather in your face units, I figured that the brighter colours with work with such.  That and I loooove me some orange!

Al Fasid and Tuareg sniper...

Spoiler

P1010918-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.bb1b009d269899bf280df2ce38e5d98a.jpgP1010919-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.20453d368797f0235d8cea4be754cb6d.jpgP1010920-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.56cf7ecc46c0033ee124402cf6ab56e7.jpg

^The Al Fasid has gotten a noticeably brighter red to his armour plates, and I'm happier with such!

P1010921-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.a0db70cb97052714cc4b339c3b1d6537.jpgP1010922-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.8ea32c40409c3544b904e67a822e154c.jpg

^Tuareg sniper started to get highlights along her... Whatever it is....  Haven't quite worked out what the infilled pattern stuff will be (the black stuff inside the dark red), but I'm sure I'll come up with something soon enough....

Bashi Bazouk (w/ Boarding Shotgun) and Khawarij...

Spoiler

P1010923-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.e10266be0305bf827c02b420c1881641.jpgP1010924-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.122e8f134f56989c919d48696f653a01.jpg

^Hello Bashi Bazouk with boarding shotgun.  Mmm, airborne AND a shotgun.  Delicious pain brought to the enemy!

P1010926-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.903ba619f816018f46a9fcc45fff4168.jpgP1010927-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.cfa0e1aac72d15b15e2273b450573080.jpg

^Khawarij starting to get highlights on his scarf, as well as... Cloak...Cape..?  Duster...?

Zhayedan, 3xGhulam Infantry, Fiday...

Spoiler

P1010928-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.479fa660891a39f3cc34b1d992d28717.jpgP1010929-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.0b4d57c1703831498ad6ae891ebb1e29.jpgP1010930-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.04cbdb7956909a552768deca4bf36f16.jpg

^Zhayedan getting some highlights too!  Love the fact that he's either ambidextrous, or left handed ^_^

P1010933-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.34a9147b9f0d70aa783ba101d4fa0d4b.jpgP1010934-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.b880d8c41420f671a04c72ecb6d64413.jpg

^Ghulam infantry have some decent looking pants now too, as well as a bit of details along the arms!  There's two of the same model because there was a mispick, but I'm painting it up no matter what - the correct mini is sitting on my desk, waiting for me to greenstuff up some sort of backpack replacement for him before he's primed ^_^;;

P1010935-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.8483797c15dc4e46ebe4513acad47c2e.jpgP1010936-May14Quick.thumb.jpg.1326d4e4b5a39d4a21d776b94dde9ce3.jpg

^And then, finally, we have our Fiday...  Which I have a strong suspicion that other than the green blade, and the strong inclination to paint one of those Nirvana silly happy smiley faces on his helmet (because it's silly, AND he's an impersonator), I might give a shot at doing him up greyscale.  Seems like it would be fitting...!

Welp, going to hopefully be seeing a decent amount of progress on here, since I've joined the MidWinter Minis one week challenge, and this (plus Rune's Ariadna) is my main focus...

Already assembled one of five boxes for this force, for example. No pics though, not yet. I'll do such in the morning I figure.

We'll just go with Sunday sucked, Monday was difficulty doing anything fine, so I wound up building a bunch of things... Until I ran out of superglue anyways.  Today I was too tired to do any hobbying, so I'll show how the assembly desk looks at the moment...

IMG_20200519_182146.thumb.jpg.49ec58fb636004d1de3c249c6d23fcec.jpg

Yup, just a few more to assemble and the entirety of my (current) Haqq backlog is caught up - at least on the assembly side of things!   They'll be based and primed later on, for now I mainly just wanted to get them assembled, since I couldn't do any painting yesterday.

(yes there's a few of the minis for Rune's force in there, I'll split them out later on ^_^)

Ghulam sniper and the Zhayedan assembled...  Leaving the superglue upside down overnight managed to get me enough glue to finish such off, so I'm rather happy there.  I'll worry about basing these minis later on (aka probably tomorrow, knowing my usual process *laughs nervously*), but it's nice to have pretty much everything that was in that particular build queue built up, more or less.

While a part of me had some rather lofty goals for the Midwinter Minis one week challenge, I'll be happy enough with having the HaqqIslam backlog assembled, basing shouldn't be too too hard to pull off...  It's just a case of working at it.  While I had more energy today, motivation was focused elsewhere, but I'm taking it as a win that I wound up doing some hobbying, and sticking to a goal of sitting down and doing a bit of it close to every day either way.  I suspect a small reasonable amount of such is due to my mind finally having time to actually process what happened earlier in the week properly - either that or it's just one of those semi-regular mood things I deal with every now and then.  Either way, small bits of work and progress means a step in the direction I'm wanting to head every day, and that's the biggest thing that truly counts. ^_^

^Aaaaand they're based!  This week I've been, how to put it...  Well, work's picked up slightly (yay!) but a good portion of it wound up going towards overall recovery from the tail end of last weekend.  Hoping that I'll spend some time this weekend actually painting - I kind of rather miss doing such ^_^;;;

Hassassin Ayyar finished! https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/91699-infinity-hassassin-ayyar/&tab=comments#comment-1945264

That makes 1/6 for the Hassassin Bahram Starter Pack, 0/7 for Red Veil, and 0/3 for Beyond Red Veil miniatures so far ^_^  Main goal is still to get some sort of starter force worked out, but I won't lie - I'd kind of prefer if it was the Red Veil one, just because it's a somewhat more balanced starter set.

I'll never understand my phone.  Give it a black background, it seems to work well.  Give it a white one, it freaks out and can't figure out the white balance...  These pics are what I could salvage out of things, sorry in advance for the colours varying in between pictures.  I'm so looking forward to acquiring a new celeryphone next week...  I also rather don't like how even with filters and AI processing turned off, my P20 Pro still over saturates things >.>;;;

On the plus side of things, tonight's music was Funker Vogt - Blutzoll (Deluxe Edition), as well as Grendel - Soilbleed

Paints used: Reaper 9404 Cinnamon Red, 9286 Punk Rock Pink, 9403 Monster Maw, 9601 Ashen Rose...  Oh yeah, and Carroburgh Crimson Shade from Citadel

IMG_20200529_235206.thumb.jpg.58f286f70a8582d5d0d25b2d9a79fe4a.jpgIMG_20200529_235221.thumb.jpg.018f6f203a99eb3976cf58bd043b204f.jpgIMG_20200529_235244.thumb.jpg.c1c544505c141dfed765851aecbd14c0.jpg

^So, progress on my Al Fasid...  Gave panel lining a try, since I had a decent amount of the mixture left at the Ashen Rose stage of things (I kind of did a "melting pot" in my well palette, aka as I used up one colour just put the next one in, and mixed the remants into the new colour) and I'm more or less happy with such.  I'll get better at it with practice ^_^

Sadly, the one thing I was hoping to show off was the tactical rock - err, actually, that looks like a Yu Jing backpack from heavy infantry, so I decided I was going to give one thought I had a shot - that of trying for something that's recognizable as pink armour, but more specifically, something like the hot neon pink I've been contemplating.  That's right.  I'm seriously contemplating the thought of having a reddish neon pink force that's known for it's heavy infantry...  Why not

IMG_20200529_235312.thumb.jpg.2efb1be5e3753db73378e8018c5455f2.jpgIMG_20200529_235321.thumb.jpg.258c8a69396d4199724ab2f2c0acd92a.jpg

^I also used some of the extra paint to get started with one of the Daylami, and yes, in some ways, my first thought was "red shirt" from the original Star Trek, whyever do you ask?  :ph34r:

I think it's fairly safe to assume that red is probably going to be a dominant colour in this army ^_^

Did a bit of work yesterday on my Al Fasid!

IMG_20200609_193732.thumb.jpg.2c318b8211703e821fa74df50a7ee538.jpgIMG_20200609_193746.thumb.jpg.1a71c1f2331c3641acbb4e55c29bca76.jpgIMG_20200609_193811.thumb.jpg.c33341db1403381c97154ff158f20198.jpg

Yeah, I went a bit too far on the drybrushing of what I can only assume is a Yu Jing heavy infantry backpack of sorts...  Some people elsewhere suggested a few ways to help the two parts separate from each other (namely, highlight the Al Fasid with oranges and yellows, go with a green-black lining between the foot and the backpack, and a few hints on how to have that backpack wind up looking more hot/neon raver-punk kind of pink (think Punk Rock Pink in the bottle, but just sliiiiightly redder)...  So I'm going to give those ideas a shot, since I'm using that in some ways as a test piece to try and get the basic idea for my eventually to be painted Yu Jing force...  Since I already have some from Red Veil, but will also have even more when I pick up Operation: Kaldstrom.

I'm also thinking that for the left arm's armour plates and ammo box I'm going to switch those over to match the general armour theme, and then make the helmet look more like it's black, instead of the current Mountain Grey Stone it is.

The Al Fasid, also known as "The Corrupted", are HaqqIslam's heavy troopers that will get the job done no matter the cost.  Their methods aren't always the prettiest, and they're never the stealthiest, and they have their own tricks they bring with them to the table.  They don't care about glory, and are solely chosen for their solid record of getting the job done.  Some enjoy it, some are in it for the solid paycheque, and others do it because the only thing theyy know what to do is fight.  Today I have the HMG version, who also conveniently carries a grenade launcher that can shoot either regular grenades to keep enemy heads down, or smoke grenades to provide additional cover.  Oh, they also pack anti-personnel mines with them too...

Since the "tactical rock" under his right foot kind of looked rather strikingly like the backpack for a Yu Jing (even though I'm not having any luck finding models to confirm this), I decided to try and test out my planned colour scheme for them.  That's right, I'll be going with a dark raver / cyberpunk burnt neon pink for their general colour, because why not - I'm going with hot orange for my Haqq...

Being that this is the figure that was the biggest reason why I picked up the Hassassin Bahram Sectorial Starter Pack (say that three times fast ), I was suspecting he'd wind up on my painting desk sooner or later...  I just didn't realize he'd have the honour of being the first finished this year, as well as my first finished Infinity miniature!

At some point in the near future I'll acquire some S2 holoprojector tokens for him, as actual 3D representations are nice.  Not sure where from, but I like my current Art of War Studios things, so probably theirs.

Oh, and for those who might be curious, that's a Global Evil Corp UniPod with two StairPods (well, one pack) in the first three pics, fourth one is a DuoPod with a StairPod alongside it.  Sadly no magnets yet for the terrain, but they're on the way, and will get here at some point
