Its like you are saying "Neodynium Magnets...Contemplate this on the tree of woe!"

This is the perfect application of magnets!

. ..but how did you construct the canopies?

I wrapped the boughs in aluminum foil, then put some magnets against the foil to press up against the magnets on the tree. Then I sculpted some canopy overlays using super sculpy, then baked the sculpy. Spray painted it green, drybrushed it with lighter shades of green and yellow, covered the outside with white glue, dumped a bunch of foam foliage chunks onto it, sprayed that with a watered down glue, then dripped various shades of green ink onto those...

I'm considering sprinkling some leaf scatter onto the canopies to add more definition to the leaves, but I'm worried it'll ruin them and they work fine just now...

Gorgeous.  Love the canopies, makes it look wholly different.

I contemplated adding a canopy to the middle, to help obscure the chains, but my wife and I thought it looked better with the split still visible, so I just rolled with it.
