The reason why I tend to dislike Family Guy, while I love South Park. Preach, brother. I don't enjoy vulgarity simply for the sake of being vulgar or being mean-spirited. I stopped watching Comedy Central roasts because it had become exactly that. That said, I still laugh at fart jokes... I enjoy combinations of satire, physical comedy, and situational. The show Scrubs was one of my favorite shows as it managed to balance so many types of humor well (for several seasons). Early Jim Carrey (Ace Ventura, the Mask) holds a special place in my heart.

Slapstick, physical comedy, any other kind, combinations? I'm a fan of clever comedy. I also tend to like wry comedy. (I likes me jokes like I likes me bread: wry.) So this tends to mean I like some British comedy. Some Monty Python, some Blackadder, some Eddie Izzard skits (Kevin the Dalek!). I would probably enjoy Fawlty Towers if I watched it now. (I think I missed some of it when I last saw it, back when they were still filming classic Doctor Who episodes.) I didn't care much for Red Dwarf (which I last saw around the same time). I might enjoy it more now. And, for non-British humor, Tom Lehrer, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Clue, and The Muppet Show. (And, really, anything with Tim Curry because I can't take him seriously for some reason, except possibly for his role in The Hunt for Red October.) I'm told I would like Firesign Theater but I haven't managed to listen to any of their works yet. I'm also a fan of the Discworld books, Good Omens, The Mikado, and Bill the Galactic Hero. (One of these is not a book, but I've got it on my list.) I'm not certain any of this explains why I like Douglas Adams' books or radio shows. Oh well. Edited March 24, 2020 by Xiwo Xerase Forgot about the radio shows, silly me... 8

Douglas Adams books fit in very well with your liking for clever comedy, IMO. Gosh yes, Bill the Galactic Hero, it's a long time since I read that, must look it up. The Stainless Steel Rat books are good too, for humour and plot.

Physical comedy survives my hearing loss nicely. 7

I used to prefer walking as a concept, even have a treadmill, but a little over two years ago, I honeymooned in DC and we did a lot of walking. Since then, my feet have not been the same. It hurts to walk almost anywhere anymore. And so, I just keep getting heavier. It doesn't help that I work in a call center, and so am paid to be sedentary. 7

Cranky Dog
1 hour ago, ManvsMini said: Question for March 24th: What is your primary form of exercise? Keeping in mind that my local gym had to lock down last week. But it's mainly cardio. I generally alternated between the elliptical machine and the stair-elliptical crossbreed machine. Mainly because of a history of bad knees, I avoided the treadmill unless it was only pure walking. Depending on how I feel, I set the machines for 30-40 minutes (+5 minutes cooldown) at moderate intensity. Enough to get a heavy sweat, and raise that pulse to the 130-140 bpm range (often climbs higher near the end). Occasionally I hit the weight machines, but they're very often being used by others at the same time, so keeping a regular routine got difficult. At home, I do regular stretching exercises. And I do have some 10lb and 20lb weights that I pick up regularly, just to flex muscles a bit. Nothing close to a training regimen, but enough that my muscles feel like they did something during the day. And with the pandemic, I've started to go outside for walks. But since this is a small unexciting town, and most of it is still under snow, there's only one walking path. It's about a 20-25 minute walk depending on my pace. I try to extend it by doing some errands at the end. I realized that my laundry's wash cycle is 30 minutes, so I can load up the washing machine, go for a walk, and return in time to put everything in the dryer. 7

Vacaroja
Work. Physical labor is part of the gig. It's really not enough, I admit, but it's something. And I can stand and walk all day long without a break! I also do some stretches and strength exercises because of neck and hand issues to keep me going.
