Question for March 24th:

What is your primary form of exercise?

Chasing my baby around and saying “No!” Or “don’t touch that!”. Sometimes grappling her to the floor and wrestling with her while I say “what’s in your mouth!”

Question for March 24th:

What is your primary form of exercise?

Mostly just living life. I always take the stairs, offer to lift/carry stuff for people, things like that. I was always active as a kid and worked a lot of manual labor jobs, and I used to lift free weights. Unfortunately my natural fitness has began to wane now that I'm turning 50, and I can't currently get back into exercise until I can figure out my shoulder problems...and that won't happen until the healthcare system recovers from the current crisis and people can touch each other safely again.

So I'm unhappily losing weight, it's mostly muscle mass. Fiancee understands my concern but I can also see her being mad that my problem is losing weight :D

When I am (hopefully) cleared, I like to do a variety of free weight stuff, and walking/hiking. Ideally I want to have a swimming pool to swim laps (our public pools are not great), it's by far the best thing I could be doing. I can't afford a pool, but at the same time can I afford not to?

Evidence that exercise ^ is not at all healthy.

I saw what you posted in the random thread. :ik_oops:

I have a number of friends who cycle, ski, go jogging and so on.

I get all the exercise I need visiting them in hospital.

More evidence ^ that exercise is unhealthy.

Question for March 23rd:

When you watch comedy (in whatever form, tv programs/movies or stand-up, etc) what type attracts your attention more? Slapstick, physical comedy, any other kind, combinations?

I'm a fan of clever turns of phrase, slap stick, and puns. The more juvenile the better.

I mostly commute to work by bicycle and then for most of the year my job involves hiking several miles a day over broken terrain in the heat while carrying a pack with 10 to 20 pounds of gear. This typically keeps me fairly healthy. Although I'm still around 20 pounds heavier than I'd like (Beer!), my doctor says my BP, sugars, cholesterol and a bunch of other health indicators are all normal for a guy my age. So I guess it's doing the trick. Unfortunately I'm working from home right now, so all of that is out for the foreseeable future. Hopefully we'll get back to working sooner rather than later or I'm going to have to figure out a home workout routine.

Almost exactly what I do with a puppy/young dog. They at least have the decency to look ashamed afterwards though, or wag their tail for forgiveness.

Not Owning a Car.

I have to walk everywhere I want to go. Thrift store? Mile and a half each way. Grocery store? Which one? One's 3/4s a mile each way, one's a full mile each way. I have a corner store but they don't even carry chocolate so it's more of a desperation store. Night buses only take you halfway home from work? Gonna have to walk the rest, there's another mile.

I also have free weights but I'm less diligent with that. Something about being on weight restrictions AGAIN :;,;:

Walking.  I used to walk partway to work in the morning, walk a lunch with a friend and then walk partway home.  Now...  I get up and go for a walk and then walk at some point between lunch and the end of my day.  I've got a treadmill in the basement for when it's icky out.  I miss rock climbing though...

Some would try to argue that you get some form of activity as a delivery driver...  With the modifications to my route (and the slowdown due to pandemic) I'm clocking a lot more time on my broccoli though...

But after work, if I want to go out, it's either walk, or catch the bus, and I prefer walking if at all possible.

Well, this year it’s walking.  If I was serious it would be bicycling again.  I also like to do something that’s more flexibility-related than aerobic, so ballroom dance or figure skating...

Work mainly. Physical job means I do get some excerise from it. I also walk to & from as we are only .6 mile (around 15 min walk) (according to Google). I'll sometimes walk home from the FLGS  (1.5 miles) on Weds nights (my night off). Helps clear my head & lets me think on the night's session.
