Very nice! I couldn’t figure out what the heck to do with that clear piece that snaps over the main eye...don’t think I’ve ever seen it used.

I've seen it used but it just makes the eye look cloudy. I think it looks much better without.

I think if you planned to paint directly onto the inside of that clear piece as well as the eyeball itself you might get some interesting results... like say the iris on the clear cover and the pupil directly on the eyeball sort of idea.

Of course I haven’t done any of this myself so it could also turn out horrible.

Proceed at own risk.

I hadn't actually planned on using the clear piece but that does sound like something I could play around with were I ever to acquire another one.

I dipped it in clear Minwax, which got rid of the cloudiness, and acted as the glue. *EDIT* Future Floor Polish can be used the exact same way - whatever it is called these days.

*EDIT 2* I was so tempted to give the beholder pink eye... The varnish flowing from the lens would have made a nice seeping eye.

The second one I glued it in place, and just painted over it.

Long before it was discovered by miniature painters scale modelers were using it on cockpit and car windows.

I decided to do the big treant today to have something that I could do quickly.
Here's today in a few pics. They got a bit out of order.
Green beard, orange mushrooms, black + browning shadows, brown + light brown in highlights.  not sure what more I'll do. May not get to paint until the weekend.

Here is a tabletop elven trio. I am satified they will help fill out the ranks of my eerie forest setting...

I liked these better than the other wizkids elves I painted - mostly because the cloaks seemed less rediculously billowy. Pretty decent depth to details too. They seem very elvy to me. s

I should have started this at the beginning of the year but a few months late is better than never. I've been working on getting stuff together for Q2 and some things for the rest of the year. For the quarterly stuff I'm going to continue to work on Grimtalon...that I don't think I have a WIP thread for and my large group has settled on doing a townsfolk theme and I'm doing the Fishwife from Dreadmere in Bones 4 KS. I have a diorama in the works but I really don't know if I'm going to finish it this quarter.

      My list for April:

      Theme: (Vampire):
      Jahenna, Female Vampire (77669)
      Limited Palette:
      Purple, Orange, Pink
Styx Purple, Fire Orange, Runic Glow
      Giant Frog (44024)
      Player Character:
Lysette, Elven Mage (Bones USA (30001))
      Monster:
      Gulper (44038)
      Duo:
      Cyclops (77705)
      Trio:
      Merowyn Lightstar (77675)
      New Release:
Darius the Blue (Bones USA (30002))
      Freebie:
      D’Tenian, d10 (77647)

Will get some photos up soon.

Been putting this on the table sans paint a couple of times, so long overdue painting was finally done. It's been a center pices for a hag's tower and now the party took it!

Here is a pack of werewolves from Wizkids. Once again I found myself a bit annoyed with their smaller sculpts - they don't quite fit my personal aesthetic and some of the details are rather shallow for my tabletop skills. I chopped out the hand that one of the sculpts was holding. Quick painting and the photos tell me a familiar story - MORE highlights needed! All in all the players were surprised that those wolves trailing them had a bit more to them....
