Reaper User ReaperAHawk Posted March 13, 2020 Reaper User Share Posted March 13, 2020 Via Growtix..... Register for classes to have an online ReaperU schedule or buy a class ticket directly without registering, but you will then need to build your own schedule offline for classes?? Let us know.
GHarris
I would suggest switching to Tabletop Events, the same company that handles tickets for Garycon and several local cons that I attend: https://tabletop.events/ No company will be 100% perfect but my experience has been good with these guys so far!
Doug Sundseth
Given a choice between the Byzantine maze that is Growtix (better last year than the year before, but still problematic) and a simple shopping cart, I'd take the latter. Managing class schedules isn't all that difficult, and Growtix didn't manage merging schedules for teaching and taking classes well anyway.
Sylverthorne
I've never been able to get the schedule to work properly, so I'll go with 'just the cart, please'. I would rather not do Growtix again, to be honest, but if we're stuck with it for the nonce, then... class tickets directly.
Dragoneye
I build my own schedule offline anyway... Therefore I lean toward shopping cart. Edited March 13, 2020 by Dragoneye
Moderator OneBoot Posted March 13, 2020 Moderator Share Posted March 13, 2020 I'm fine with either option, both have their pros and cons, and neither way will completely eliminate confusion and misunderstandings about the process. However, the fewer steps a process requires to achieve the final result, the better. So...I'd suggest going with whichever option requires the fewest mouse clicks (or phone taps). It would be great if there was a way to get feedback from those who attended last year for the first time, since I'm curious how their experience was similar to/different from those that have dealt with the Growtix system before. Clearman
I've never had any problems navigating Growtix, but I appear to be in the minority. Year one required learning the system. Year two was a breeze. I vote to keep the current system rather than change to again.
Pegazus
Shopping cart. I am frustrated every year with the Growtix schedule. It is very clunky and unintuitive. I would prefer doing my schedules offline by myself rather than their system. I do that anyway since their app has never worked for me. I have never been able to log on so resort to using the website over the phone’s browser. But that’s only if I have to. I instead just put the info into my phone’s calendar and use that.

The App issue was us....Ok me...I was customizing it last year and never finished it....just too much at the time was on my plate ..therefore I always set the App to "inactive" status so it wasn't fully functional. I will do better this time and have it ready this year.

Reaper User ReaperAHawk Posted March 13, 2020 Author Reaper User Share Posted March 13, 2020 17 minutes ago, TGP said: Don't even understand how buying is different from registering...? So for the past 2 years, we were using Growtix for classes this way: First you would "register for a class". What that did is add it to your "schedule" only to build your itinerary for ReaperCon. Then you would go back and then purchase your seat in that class. It was a two step process to buy your class ticket. May people did like this , yet others did not. Many people just built their schedule on their own and thought the two step process was "clunky". So this year we are thinking using Growtix this way: You will need to look at the schedule of classes we offer and build your own schedule offline. We will post the schedule of classes on all social medias as well as ReaperCon.com. It may also be in the Growtix system to view as well. Then after approx. 2 weeks ( to let everyone see the schedule), we will release the classes for purchase to the VIP ticket holders first. (* this is a VIP perk), then all the classes open up to everyone after 24-48hrs. So instead of clicking "register for classes" first and then going to buy the ticket, you would just go to the list and purchase them directly from the navigation button on the landing page of our Growtix page You will no longer have a class schedule on Growtix, you wil need to list those class tickets you bought to your phone's calendar or use the pull down list on your order confirmation page to "add to apple wallet", "print" or "send to phone" options Hope that explains it. I may have gone into too much detail, but we think using the direct buy class ticket will decrease confusion...everyone will just build their own schedule for ReaperCon based on the classes they took as well as games and events they sign up for. But I'm guessing most people do this anyways. 2
Moderator OneBoot Posted March 13, 2020 Moderator Share Posted March 13, 2020 I like that plan. It should eliminate the problem of people showing up who think they bought classes, but instead only ever put them on their schedule. (Granted I don't know how many that's happened to, but it's still something I know has happened.) Huzzah! --OneBoot :D 1
