gmvader
Question about the classes. I ordered the minis and paints for the classes I’m taking. Is there any information about how I should prep the minis? Primer? Base Coat? Nothing at all? I’m assuming things like OSL need a base coat for the object source to cast light on? I can make my best guess but thought I would ask. 4
Inarah
I'm going to start by washing and priming any figures I need for class. It would be helpful if the teachers or class descriptions let us know if we need to go further (base coat, for example, can take a long time to dry in some climates). 5
TripleH
@Reaper_Jon or @ReaperAHawk, could someone poke USPS to "accept" the packages you've been sending out? Even though there is still time, just getting a little anxious that my order for classes that was shipped on Monday 8/17 is still showing "Package Received, Pending Acceptance". Thanks much.

Glad I'm not the only one still annoyed at USPS. Mega Bundle ordered on the 18th. Paperwork done on the 19th. Absolute silence since. This isn't the first time this happened to me. Next thing I know, I'll get a message saying it's on its way and almost arrived *after* I already picked it up at the post office. 1
haldir
If I were to sign up for a class/es, but not attend the class/es, would I be taking up a spot for someone else? I'm not exactly sure how the whole Zoom thing works as I've never needed to use it before. Still up in the air in regards to my RCon game status. My FLGS is going to run anv events but virtually like everything else this year. I'm hoping to run a game for them that weekend as well. If I can't get my RCON game to work, I'd still like to partake in classes & such.
kristof65
@haldir - I think it depends on Reaper and the plan they're paying for, plus any limits they put on registration. Plans can be 100, 300 or 500 participants.
Inarah
I believe it was said in one of the streams that they paid for the 1000 participant Zoom license. There don't appear to be limits on Twitch streams.
Humansquish
Soo... Silly question. What is the minimum internet speed to view Zoom classes? I can't watch any live streams or playbacks on Twitch, I get 2 minutes of buffering for every 5 seconds of play time. I don't want to register for classes if I can't even view them. Yes I know I should upgrade my internet, but I am lazy & cheap.

Yes I know I should upgrade my internet, but I am lazy & cheap. According to Zoom's website: Quote Bandwidth requirements 2.0 Mbps up and down for single screen 2.0 Mbps up 4.0 Mbps down for dual screen 2.0 Mbps up 6.0 Mbps down for triple screen For screen sharing only: 150-300kbps For audio VoIP: 60-80kbps As for Twitch, I found this: Quote For source quality: It depends on what the streamer uses to encode and upload/stream with. For example, I encode and stream at 3200 kb/sec. If twitch doesn't allow the viewer quality options, but only “source”, then the viewer will need a minimum 3200kb/s download to even attempt watching the stream with no buffer. To do anything else on your network would either lag or lag the stream if you had only 3200kb download to work with. A minimum 4,000 would probably be recommended to experience no lag at all (except for network or technical difficulties) For High quality: The average bandwidth twitch re-encodes at is 1500 kb/s, with a resolution of 720p, 30 fps For Medium quality: The average is 800 kb/s, 480p, 30fps For Low quality: 600 kb/s, 360p, 30 fps For Mobile quality: 200 kb/s, 240p, 30 fps The above values are the average value twitch re-encodes at. That's the bare minimum you would need to only watch the stream. It would be recommended to have more than that as a buffer for any other network activity. To actually check the live bandwidth usage for the twitch player, you should be able to click the gear/setting icon on the player, and select to view the stats, unless twitch changes or removes this feature. Your mileage may vary as the problem may be at the source, and not on your end. I often get buffering issues even when my bandwidth is running smoothly at 10-12Mbps, so I lower the resolution until it plays smoothly. It can be annoying, it may need the occasional reload, but it works. Edited August 25, 2020 by Cranky Dog 3

gmvader
The beginner freehand class changed the materials needed in the last couple days, no way for me to get new paints this close. I think I can find some reasonable substitutes thanks to the paintRack app. A little frustrating though. I bought paints so I would be able to participate fully. This kind of makes that impossible. The prep instructions say to print and cut out a template but don’t say where to find that template, is there another place I should be looking? Never mind I found it. Perhaps in the class handout? The ReaperCon Discord "doors" will open tomorrow, so you can check the instructor's artist page to see if the handout is there to download. You can also discuss paint substitutions with them. :) Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
