Lihmeth
Hello, Does anyone have experience using a nail polish shaker to stir mini paints? I'm getting a sore arm shaking all those paints, and such a repetitive movement may not be good for your wrist anyway. Also, any recommendations for a product in the EU?
Gadgetman!
What you want is called a vortex shaker. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71837-split-vortex-shakers/&do=findComment&comment=1462823 4
Lihmeth
They're quite expensive though, but maybe someone at work knows where I can get one secondhand. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the tip! I have a vortex mixer and can vouch they are wonderful. Like most painters, I ordered one used (from ebay in my case). I highly recommend getting one used if you can find one. Just make sure it has a top piece that can be used with paints. You want either a 3" platform with the bumpy rubber pad, or one with the little cup.
Xiwo Xerase
If a vortex mixer seems too expensive now, a nail polish shaker like the one you showed should work. The Hobart paint shaker is a similar device, although I think its trough is larger (where the paint bottle goes) and the band might be better suited for paint bottles. If you decide to use a nail polish shaker or the Hobart shaker, remember to buy additional bands because they will break sooner or later.
mikem91
I'll dogpile on the vortex shaker recommendation. I've beaten up a couple of hobart style shakers. the performance isn't that great and the durability is rather low.
Rignes
What about the "LabGenius MI0101001 Mini-Vortex Mixer" on Amazon? They are about $80 each.

I've seen several people say those are good, probably the top choice that's not a Vortex Genie.
Rignes
I'm thinking of getting one for myself. My mixing arm is starting to complain.
Iridil
I'll jump in and say I love my relatively cheap vortex shaker - and they last! I think the one I have at my work must be older than some of the posters here :)

MikeGolfJ3
You can also use an electric knife as a paint shaker with a 3D printed attachment. A remix I did for my Cuisinart is on Thingiverse, along with other designs: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2820818
Harrek
I have to say that I bit the bullet and invested more in a good quality vortex shaker and have never regretted it. I can mix up to 8 bottles at once and it is solid and will run all day. Also makes doing a periodic mix of paint an easy task. Or if I have only a couple bottles to mix, I grab a handful more and cycle through them all periodically. But I have never regretted spending to get one on eBay.
Cygnwulf
I've used both but currently only own a nail polish shaker and it works well enough. Don't get the battery powered ones, get the ones that plug into the wall. Battery powered ones just don't have the oomph to be very effective. If it's in the budget though, get the vortex mixer. It'll have your paint creamy and well mixed in like 10-15 seconds, the nail polish shaker needs like a minute if the paint is well separated.

It's alright for letting paints mix for a bit while I'm doing something else, but I still often have to mix them again once I remove the paint from the mixer
