A torque wrench that was easily six feet long and used to tighten main rotor shaft bolts on heavy duty helicopters... As a breaker bar for the main axle bolt on my Corolla so we could fix a few things. He had to send it in for calibration anyways, and both of us were kind of frustrated after several hours of attempts, one broken two foot breaker bar, one bent three foot breaker bar, and two cans of anti-seize couldn't get the darn thing to break free... 2 hours ago, kristof65 said: Apparently there is something silly about a guy with a mustache and goatee in jeans & a t-shirt having a bottle of bright pink nail polish in his tool bag. My dad would always have a glass bottle or two of enamel Testors paints in his kit, of random but usually bright paint, and some toothpicks. Why? Easiest way to spot check the nuts on the main rotor shaft for a helicopter is to mark a thick line of paint that connects the two parts. Works wonders for checking if any kind of shifting due to torque happened, AND is rather visible, even with all the grease and gunk that gets in there... And enamel paints survive the heat, more or less, but if you hit it just right it will break free without issue, letting you access the parts. Hot pink and fire engine red are rather visible colours, so for your use I can also see how it would make tampering rather evident... 12

I dug the chunk of concrete out just enough to tie a rope around it, then improvised a lever to pull and lift it using the only thing I had on hand — the rotted out fencepost itself! A quick balancing trick and a few jumps later, and the concrete chunk pulled from the ground like a rotten tooth. 9

Current apartment (2nd floor): black flies Previous apartment (ground floor): mice First apartment (2nd floor): raccoon resting on the balcony, not caring that I was looking at it. Family home (mom's house): Neighbour's cat kept sneaking in when we opened the front door. Considering the cat lived with two dogs and two children, can't blame it to want something quieter like a big house with a single old lady. Though I’ve seen raccoons and at least one coyote in our neighborhood, we’ve not had any large animals invade our current home, except at the beginning. When my wife and I were moving into the house, a large yellow tomcat wandered in and introduced himself to us, then went in our open door and explored every room of the new house as we were bringing boxes in. We left him satisfy his curiosity, then escorted him out when we were done. He looked well cared for and our new house was newly-built, so I guess he was just exploring, rather than looking for new human pets to adopt. 10

If you count friend's pets I wasn't expecting, a Great Dane. If you're only counting wild animals, a squirrel made it's way down our stove vent, and got caught in the back of the microwave, where it chewed up the (ironically) squirrel cage fan blade before we were able to extract it. My dad has a story about a bear in the kitchen of a hunting lodge he and some co-workers were staying at a few years back. I'll stick with squirrels. 9

Some would argue surprise contractors can be animals... I'll go with a really fat mouse. We've had a few break into our place, and it's annoying trying to keep the buggers out. Mice always try to sneak in when fall becomes winter... 7 1

Then, when a new server room manager came in, he thought that for safely maybe those pillows should be fire tested. Apparently the test pillow would have made great fire starter for camping, but wasn't appropriate for stuffed into the hole in the floor right behind the very warm racks of very expensive servers..... For myself, within sight: I've been too "busy" to actually spend 10 minutes on a UV curing box for my resin prints, so the light is currently zip tied to the leg of a chair... Works fine, although I'm worried I might fade the carpet there. 2 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: April 14. What is the largest non-human animal you've ever found in your house? Current house? Tommy the cat. He's up to 15.5 lbs. Last house? One of the brother-in-laws' dog for about five seconds. Dog owners, please don't show up unannounced at a cat owner's house and just walk in the door with your dog....... Going back to growing up? Which is bigger, a newborn shorthorn calf or a full grown goat? 9
