Yes, of course. I"d say that it's worked out pretty well. Here's some examples:Kyphrixis, White Dragon Bones 4 Ghost Pirates Bones 4 Giant King Cobra (LEDs) (translucent fire effects) 10

Cranky Dog
3 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? SOONTM Never done it yet, but I have some Tamiya clear paints which should do the job of maintaining the transparency. 7
Inarah
3 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? No. The only ones I have are the fire sprites (or whatever) and they work fine on the table as-is. DH has the green ones, I don't think we've ever used them. 7
Glitterwolf
6 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? I have painted the Banshee as a ghost emerging from my Casket of Souls piece. Also I have painted the tentacle spell effects as part of my Elder God breaks out of his Container piece. Both were painted in colours matching their original ones ( green/pink). 14
Zink
6 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? I've done a few ranging from ending up totally opaque to somewhat translucent. Primed with Liquitex matte medium and tried to do a minimum of painting using washes, glazes and drybrushing to keep the translucence. Got too many attachments so couldn't find older pics and realized I haven't taken ant pics of the ghosts I painted last fall. Some are ok. 7
Cyradis
6 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? Yes. I painted some translucent ghosties. I "primed" them by slathering Vallejo Gloss Varnish on them. Then I used S75 inks on them for coloring. Did a magic orb just by mixing gloss varnish and purple ink. It worked fine. 5 hours ago, WhiteWulfe said: I haven't really, other than primigg one. One of these days I might give the whole translucent thing a shot, but for the time being I tend to prefer my minis opaque. ^^that. I'm not actually a huge fan of the translucent figures. I might do similar sloppy paint jobs on some in the future for shizngiggles, but I don't actually think they look that great painted unless you're going to do something cool like shove an LED in a gelatinous cube. To me they're the ultimate "buy and fling on the table" sort of figure to not care about. Got a ton of translucent WizKid elementals for my D&D adventure.... right before we had to go online. No real intention of ever painting them (water and air). I'd just as soon have something opaque for anything I put paint on. 9

redambrosia
11 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? Yes, I’ve paint four walls of fire. I base coated with matte sealer then painted in the cracks. As you can see, on the second set (or maybe it was the first set, heck if I remember) I forgot to do the OSL effect on the ground. 11
pcktlnt
14 hours ago, Werkrobotwerk said: APRIL 3! Have you painted any of the transparent/translucent bones minis? What worked well? Attempted painting the shadow hound as half opaque and leaving it half translucent. Wanted the hound to appear as if it was phasing in to reality. 9
