Murder's Mark, Pathfinder 1st Edition

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

In light of additional free time, I'd like to start another PBP.

Maybe I'll be able to get prior ones going again, if people are interested.

We'll be doing Murder's Mark.  A Pathfinder Module for four 1st level characters.

From www.paizo.com

An urban mystery adventure for 1st-level characters.

Everyone in the fishing town of Ilsurian is excited when the legendary Umbra Carnival rolls into town—even if the show is run by members of the much-maligned Varisian ethnic group. With strange and exotic beasts, scandalous performances, games of chance, and all the other fun of a traveling fair, who could resist such an opportunity for entertainment?

Unfortunately for both the town and the circus, however, entertainment isn’t the only opportunity the carnival presents.

Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's Guide, Advanced Race Guide are OK.

Character Generation:

Attributes: 4d6, reroll all 1's, drop lowest die.  This will yield attribute rolls of 6-18.

Average Starting Gold for class.

Alignments: LG, NG, CG, LN, TN.

The hope would be that once we finish this one, we'll be able to start another with the same characters...

Do you have the core Rulebook?

If not, the rules were posted here.

http://legacy.aonprd.com

Focus on the Core Rulebook.

I always tell people if it’s your first foray into Pathfinder/DND, fighter is a good first class.  It’s a little more complicated with all the feat choices, but for first level it’s easier than worrying about spells and class features.  Since this will be first level, we can definitely use it as a teaching forum for you.  If you’ve played DND 3.0/3.5/4/5th editions, you will know how to play Pathfinder.

I may be interested in this one, kinda of a refresher on Pf 1 rules again.

I think I might look at the Oracle. I'm not sure of race.

So, that’s 4.  Please work on characters and try to post up in the next few days.  I’d like to get this going soon.  @ImperialOfficer feel free to ask questions here, or PM me.

Ok, re-installed Herolabs Classic. I think I'll make up a Aasimar Oracle for this one. I'll work on it today & hopefully get it up later tonight.

Ok. I've played one game of 3.5 and a lot of 5e, so hopefully it won't be too hard.

You’ll pick it right up.  Much closer to 3.5 than 5.  More math/bonus/penalty tracking than 5e.

If you've played 3.5, then you'll get Pf 1e. It's more or less D&D 3.75. Paizo took some of the rules & refined them but overall kept the game as it was.

I don’t see Hero Labs mentioning it, but you have an extra HP.  So, I’m assuming “Favored Class: Oracle +1 HP?

Also, Religion Traits mention being tied to a particular deity.  Divine Warrior lists Lawful Good, being trained by militaristic clerics of a particular deity.  But that kind of seems a little off for an Oracle.  Does your character worship a single deity?  I’ll allow it if you fit it into the back story...

Just pulled these out of the drawer.  One of these Orcs was next in line on the Bones I Kickstarter Rewards image, so I’ll try to squad-paint them together to save time. They have been cleaned of mold lines.  The spearman’s spear was very bent, as was the great sword.  So, those got weapon swapped with basic weapons from Bones 3.  Those are darker grey.  Washed them, so just waiting for them to dry.  Also had to gap fill spearman’s wrists.

I’ve been working on this dragon too.
It has some serious lean.  In order to try to address this, I cut the front feet away from the back feet, and from each other.  I was hoping gluing the to the base separately would do it, but no!

      Still serious lean.
I decided to pin the feet to the base, but as I played with it, realized the back feet, left and right front feet would all have to be at different levels.

It’s now straight and erect.  I had to chop and reposition the tail for this, or else the tip dipped below the level of the base.  Now I need to sculpt green stuff supports around these pins.  Then I’ll try to turn them in to rocks.

Starting up another, now that Janan is done.
Satheras, Male Warlock.  He had a really bent staff.  On the behind shot you can see I cut it off at the hand, wedged a bit out and re glued it into a straighter angle.  I also cut him off his integral base, since it had no texture.

Hoping to try to get a little better at OSL on him, with a green gem in the staff.

Pathfinder Red Dragon #60028 is a hefty beastie and I definitely did not paint him red. Instead I tried a rainbow piece for Pride 2020 (finished 8/1/2020). Also my first painted model posted here. Pardon my photography skills. I used cut up Caryatid column #77378 for a bit of terrain on the base. My biggest metal model to date.

I recently played and really enjoyed Pathfinder: Kingmaker (PC not tabletop), and I've had the urge to paint up some Pathfinder miniatures.  This guy is the Stag Lord (SKU 60073), I figured he would be quite appropriate as the first miniature painted up to be photographed on the ruined keep scenic backdrop I built recently.  I really enjoyed painting this guy (I am weird and enjoy painting skin tones far too much, bare chested models are always a treat).  My only regret is gluing his helmet on before painting his face, those big teeth made it really hard to get a brush inside the helmet at an angle that wasn't awkward, after a massive struggle I gave up trying to dot the eyes.
