Yes, I got my 'free' PDF, when they sent the email saying they were available, but I paid for a  BOOK.  I still want it.

Poor QML. I know everyone wants to pay them directly and get their stuff, but legally, QML doesn't own those goods. They likely have a lien on them for nonpayment, and splitting it up individually could be a giant problem if they do. Plus, probably a bunch of people will have written off their stuff by now, and if so what then? They keep it forever?

See if you can find Rahdo's ("Rahdo Runs Through It") videos on Project Elite, particularly the apology video where he goes over the retail production miniatures vs. the 3D printed miniatures the creator sent him. I dunno how disappointing KS have affected the better known game reviewer channels, but I'd think that the failures hit them more than the successful ones help them.

I'm finding out with "modular / exception-based" rules, such as special abilities, or special rules, that the PDF is far better, if you do some prep. I'll print out only the scenario and adversaries I'll need, as well as character generation sections for each player. Not necessary, but I've also printed out the adversary stat blocks and special ability text, glued to index cards, and sleeved them. Lasting Tales has a card set of monsters so you can shuffle them to randomize adversaries, but I do that with the index cards. With the usual exception-based rules, I've found myself searching through the PDF a fair amount. The book *does* have a good index. Besides the PDF prints, I've also made character cards from screencapping premade ArtBreeder portraits, and creating spreadsheets for character stat blocks. (Tokens are from Stonemaier Game's Realistic Tokens.)

IIRC, QML's statement says they and BLG are looking at the contracts. QML and CoolStuffInce, an online boardgame store, have the same CEO (?) so *could* transfer logistics from QML to CSI, CSI ships goods to individual customers, so it *might* not be a problem. Since backers in FS2 were willing to pay $125 per FS1, which has 200+ miniatures (?), if CSI is stuck with unshipped stuff, it's *possible* they can make a profit by selling it retail. CMON already has an arrangement with Miniature Market to sell off extra inventory, and "problems are opportunities" if CSI can do this as well. Plenty of half-full speculation, of course.

 

Not sure if I can say that for EasyShip (?), BLG's distributor for Horror and FS2, though.

I’d still pay the shipper direct to get my product but there’s not a chance that I’m giving Blacklist direct another dime.  What really aggrieves me is that I was dumb enough to back Lasting Tales when this project was already starting to smell fishy.  A hard learned lesson on the risks of Kickstarter and FOMO.  

I backed Lasting Tales as I'm in Australia and saw the quality of minis my friend had received. I certainly didn't expect Oz to get their order, but not the US and Europe.

 

It will be a double whammy for me as I also added Series 1 as an add-on to my pledge. It will be my biggest ever Kickstarter loss by some margin.

If people are writing this off, they may just want to contact Attorney General for possible misrepresentation

Apparently Blacklist is based in California?

Best case it's pressure to deal with QML. Or helps with credit card disputes. But also check your local laws, sometimes they can apply (like Ontario law says as long as one of business or consumer is in Ontario at time of transaction the law can apply).  Maybe you have stronger provisions where you are.

I'm sure they looked at effectiveness of that visit.  Weighing the pros and cons of facing the crowd probably didn't go over too well.  That or if they even have someone who can attend and setup the booth.  That in and of itself usually has a cost and needs to be a good face for the company.  

 

Likely they have given up.

With regards to GenCon:

1) What positive do they even have to discuss with prospective customers?

2) They can’t afford to pay their QML bill, so how could they afford to pay booth fees, etc.?

3) The rep would probably have to field a slew of negative interactions with angry US customers?

— Those interactions might get filmed and then posted to social media, which could include statements that could legally be used against the company.

Oh, it's the smart move, just not one I wanted to see.  I think their original plan was to sell the stock they did have released for retail as a "convention early exclusive" to try to raise funds then decided it wasn't worth even that (or couldn't find someone willing to man the booth, as I'm sure Alex Lim is already hiding behind another shell company)
