Have you ever taken a road trip with a pet?

I have not.

Travelling with the goldfish we used to have just seems a bit silly.

Only when we moved....the cat did not like it.

Yes, when I was 9 we moved cross country with 3 cats.

I always wondered what "wife beater" meant when I read it in books, but there was no way I was googling that particular phrase ::P:  Here the word " tank top" refers to a jumper(sweater) with no sleeves. Which just looks silly, but there you go.

I always thought that was just one of those tight white t-shirts that buff blokes wear. I'd post a picture, but I'm not sure that this thread could handle more pictures of Chris Evans....

In the US a jumper is always sleeveless. It’s a woman’s sleeveless, shapeless, loose housedress meant to be worn over something with sleeves, such as a t-shirt, a long-sleeved blouse, or a turtleneck sweater.

When I was a child, yes. Why?

Not for fun or vacation, but I did drive from St. Louis to Cincinnati with my 16 year-old cat in a cage as we moved across states for work.

No...I missed out on that one unless you count my kids as pets.

No.

In the past I've been on short trips with the dogs I used to have, they always got very car sick.

I have a childhood memory of taking a Spaniel / Beagle mix to the vet. He liked it a lot; the stop at the vet less so. But nothing that ever crossed state lines.

So.... final answer: No

I never take road trips, I only drive to a destination, not driving around just for fun.

I think we have stumbled on yet another idiomatic phrase that may mean different things on different shores.

No. When I had pets they stayed home while I was travelling.

Could be, to me a road trip is driving around for fun and without a destination in mind.

So, driving around for driving around, some people like that.

I do drive to places to visit for fun though.

But I only take Brutus with me if he can have fun there as well.

With Odin ( my former Boxer) I've driven a hour and a half to visit the Sea so he could run around on the beach.

( Autumn, empty beach ::P: not Summer and bouncing through sunbathing families)

The only time we did was when I was a child, and mom's cat would come along for the trip.  Beauregard loved to just flop in the back upper area of the Corolla and watch the scenery go by.  That and get a good, healthy dose of sunbeam...

I personally never have done such, partly because I haven't really had any pets.  Only thing that might count would be a giant betta I was given by a customer when I had fish tanks, because it was given to me while I was at work (and then shortly after, he was brought home, but stress from several tank moves didn't go well for Boshu (he died a week later), but boy did he like his foam filter, especially blasting through the bubbles at full speed!)

I haven’t had a pet since I was a boy, and haven’t gone on a road trip since I was in college.   Married life can do that to you.

Our cats don't even like the short trip to the vet.  The 4+ hour drive to the new house was "fun" with 5 cats across 2 vehicles...
