He’s awesome, and I love your paint job for the most part, but I do question the choice of using that color for his loincloth. I find it pulls so strongly that it reduces the amazing effect you have of using the same color on his ears, as some shading in the skin, and on the club. Using it as a shade color within the loincloth would have given a better result and wouldn’t draw my eye to it over and over again as opposed to the rest of the figure. Just some thoughts.

@Adrift thank you for your comments! Actually, I had originally done it in red, but that had the exact effect you describe. What I ended up with was an improvement over that, but in hindsight is certainly is as you say too similar to the ears. I probably should have gone into blues for the lioncloth instead. Live and learn :)

This was my entry for the quarterly contest. I decided to paint him as though he was in a cave with maybe some luminescent crystals or mushrooms. I love the sculpt and will probably eventually get another to paint "normally". Or maybe not since I have hundreds of other minis to paint!

I really like this chap's air of melancholy as he trudges through a cold, damp marsh.

Black on black, your standard sci-fi street-runner.  Gave his coat a touch of purple just to give the eye something to look at.

I have been slightly less of a workaholic in May than in April, so I have been able to do some quartely challenges as well as the monthlies. I am probably not going to be able to paint anything else this month, so here goes.
These were all painted for the Reaper challenge league May, and again, squeezed in between work. So, low effort speed painting is the key. which also shows that is it possible to get quite decent results in a short time as long as you accept there will be some rough bits.
