I don’t have any links, and I am betting the observances are a bit subdued, but I do note that today is the 75th anniversary of V-E Day, the official end of World War Two in Europe.  Compared to that, getting through our current crisis seems possible...

For us Dutch that was May 5th.

We call that one Liberation Day.

On May 4th we remember the fallen.

My dad had 2 uncles and a cousin that served. Grandpa's best friend was one of the first wave of Canadian volunteers. Mom had one uncle. Neighbours who's land I own now had 3 sons. Lots of people in the area directly involved. Wife's grandfather lost his teeth in '43 on the eastern front. From the timing and little facts we've been able to find there's a good chance it was part of the Kursk battles. So the wife and I still pay our respects to the veterans this time of year.

My great uncle flew night flights with the Carpetbaggers to support the French Resistance.  They dropped spies, propaganda, and other supplies.  His plane went down on the night of the 3-4th of March.
