wizkids Beholder

Recommended Posts

I love how the body both looks like a pinecone and the colours match a pinecone.

That said, the miniature is the same size as a pinecone aswell!

Good paintjob!

I have to agree!  When I was painting it the scenario  running through my head was a fighter going "why is a pinecone staring at me"  the wizard looks up as the beholder turns around and the wizard shouts run! And then deops In a dead faint [I have a weird brain]  but we have pinches that look a lot like that beholder too

Thanks for noticing and glad you liked it!

So a while ago I bought 10 of these prepainted wizkids merfolk minis off ebay for cheap. The paintjob on them is horrible but I like the sculpts quite a lot and my dnd group used them all the time during our underwater adventure campaign and was quite happy with th. One of them was missing an arm and I just put her in "to do" box and didn't use her in my games. After some time I chopped of her hand for another project and in the end I was left with an armless and handles mermaid.

Since my bits box has grown quite substantially during the last year I decided to pick something out for her in the arms and hands department and also repaint her.
I will post updates on the process here and in the end make a new topic in the show off section. I'm open to comments, criticism and sugestions and I hope you like this proces!
      Thank you for looking!

Still messing about with contrast paints, we come to the Nolzur's Marvellous miniatures Spectator and Gazers.

The Spectator and Gazer are obviously variants of the classic Beholder...

      Just painted a few figures.
First up is an Alligator from Wizkids.
His base is just under 5cm in diameter

Then some sort of larva, which I like to think of as a kind of "baby mothra" - also from wizkids.
It's coloring is based (roughly) off a real-life caterpillar.

Lastly, a couple of Cave Worms (Giant Leeches, #44031, Reaper).
