Desk Wizards - Miniature Painting Organizers with Style

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I'm going to have to get in on that 2x level 10 and 1x level 14 pledge... They'd fit over on my assembly desk fairly well, but not take up too too much space...

I don't know.

We paid $45 for our Miniature Scenery Workstation, and it has a lot more to it than this does at $52.

Removable bins let me use triads easier.

Larger bins useful for colored primers and sorting some items by manufacturer.

Stores maybe 200+ paints of assorted sizes.

Bins are harder to remove, so I keep this near my painting area.

Mouths make it easier to remove paints, etc.

Long trays allow me to store non-paints, such as a tube of plastic putty.

Probably can store another 200+ paints.

Already have a rack to hold brushes, but this one looks good.

Whoooo, found out about the hot pink / orange acrylic they have for brush holders and it was a stretch goal for the wizard level 10 and 14, sahweeeeeeeeeeeet!

Now to figure out what combo to go with for colours on them, as hubby has expressed interest in a few as well (although he knows he just wants the blue accent)

I'm getting one of the 14s for use when I want to paint away from my main station, since they're portable trays.  I'm still pretty happy with my hobby holder.

At the moment I'm in for 2x 10's and 1x 14 but I'm probably going to be adding in another two of the 14's for myself (to manage my paints for projects I'm working on, and keeping them tidy but nearby) and then two of each for Rune, since he doesn't know which size or combination he would want.

And then a few hobby holders, since I keep meaning to buy a few...

Torn because I like to support Game Envy and they have been stellar in the Kickstarters I was apart of.. but at the same time, I was just looking at these on Etsy and they are cheaper and I can get them big enough for DW inks

I have to say, update #2 is pretty funny, especially the whole "what else will fit in it" bit...

I’m really happy with my Game Envy Hobby Holder, but last year after ReaperCon I invested in a couple of large paint racks via Impudent Mortal who is really local to me here in Georgia and I just don’t have a need for any of these offerings. They’re a great company though!!!

I have been avoiding Kickstarter lately, considering I spent WAY too much on Bones V (and have about 20 dollars worth of additional stuff I still have sitting in my cart ready for me to pull the trigger to add on top of the massive amount of stuff I already have purchased LOL), in addition to a full in pledge for the CMoN Avengers United game, but saw this one pop up and had to back for the 2x 10 and 1x 14. Right now my paint organization is a medium flat rate box of GW paints and 3 Reaper starter kit boxes of paints on my desk. Not entirely efficient when trying to find something I use on a regular basis!! And, the fact on the 14 one you can put a tablet/phone, that means I can watch some of the Jessica Rich Dark Sword videos I got with Bones IV while I paint!

Funded.  In the last hour or so, Kit added in an option that lets Tamiya paint pots, 2 oz bottles, and the hobby holder itself to fit inside...

Not going to lie, I strongly suspect this fox is going to wind up having "a few" of those in his order...  Especially since there's the stacking arena stand too...

      About
Welcome to the Great Wall draft page – the campaign is not live yet, but we will be gradually adding more and more information about the game here! We are incredibly excited to hear your feedback, so please let us know what you think. If it looks interesting to you - make sure to click the "Notify me on launch" button!
The Great Wall is a new major board game from Awaken Realms (creators of Nemesis, Tainted Grail, Etherfields and many other acclaimed products). Players will take the roles of generals of an ancient oriental empire who lead the defence against ruthless hordes. You will need to gather allied advisors, manage your workers, recruit armies and, together with other players, raise and defend the Great Wall! As the game progresses, you will often need to co-operate or negotiate with other players, but make no mistake – there can be only one winner!
This fresh worker (and soldier!) placement game for 1-4 players faces them with many difficult choices and often pushes them to interact with each other. You will be assigning your workers to eleven different locations, such as Tea House, Quarry, Messenger Post, or Barracks, using special Command cards that have additional effects. Production in locations activates ONLY when all their slots are filled, but filling them all by yourself can result in a penalty. On top of that, players can buy overseers who will give additional output every time a location becomes activated. This creates a lot of involving long- and short-term strategies.
Each player starts with one unique General, characterized by their asymmetric power, as well as the production level. From there, you will further customize your economic engine and fine-tune your strategy by recruiting advisors who provide additional bonuses.
Eventually, a Wall Defence phase beings, where players place previously build armies on Horde Cards – earning Honor (Victory points) and looting resources from the defeated troops. This requires smart management of three types of units: Archers, Spearmen and Cavalry. Players place these soldiers one by one, playing the Tactics cards that create another layer of interaction.
Gain meditation by shooting with the Zen Archer, then spend meditation on a Cavalry Squad Leader to move your Cavalry around the battlefield faster, and – finally – finish off by getting extra Honor for each of the Cavalry’s engagements thanks to the Banner Holder. There are endless possibilities for great combos and memorable plays.
On top of that, your Advisors and General might give your troops extra abilities, such as shooting twice or looting twice the resources!
All of the above makes the Great Wall one of our most strategically involving designs that will be appreciated by many different groups of players: those who love euro-styled games with their intricate economies and engine-building, those who love over-the-table play, bargaining and negotiations – and finally, those who simply like to wage war on a beautiful map.
