Fastest any of my vehicles have managed is a touch over 200km/h...and that was partly because the road started getting a bit more windy after that point and I ran out of room to accelerate (not sports cars by any stretch of the imagination either, 110kW/360Nm and 132kW/280Nm engines) To be fair the fastest I've ever driven is 330kph and the powerhouse driving it was over 600kW. Only there for a short period of time though because one of the pistons melted and the car hit the track barriers. Which brings me to my point: speed doesn't kill. Poor engineering and poor judgement kill. I walked away from the wreck because I was driving in an environment designed for the speed I was travelling and the safety systems were also in place. I did have a spectacular spider shaped bruise across my chest for 6 weeks though... and it hurt... a lot. Especially since my parents didn't know I was racing so I had to act like nothing was wrong 6 1
TheAuldGrump
Is it just me, or is the Discord server a freaking pain in the butt? I can't join a group because I am already on Discord, so can't claim the account? Getting annoyed with Frog God right now - with the Discord server being part, along with a coupon that does not work, and the Pathfinder Rules Addendum for Lost Lands being pretty useless, from a GM's standpoint. It's pretty nice as a player's guide, I guess, but in no way does it bring the core Lost Lands to the same level as Border Provinces, Bard's Gate, Razor Coast, The Blight, or many others of their better works. But even as a player's guide, pretty much everything in the Addendum was copied and pasted from existing supplements - there is little to nothing new in the Addendum. It felt like a product thrown together at the last minute, because the deadline was about to hit them hard. The Auld Grump

If you can tell, I am so motivated and also I am discovering that I have the wrong job... again. Ugh, they outsourced our IT division two years ago. Six months in, they did something that caused our sales system to pretty much regularly go down for over four business days. Warehouse couldn't pick anything, sales couldn't enter in orders, kind of deal. Their CEO was a bit surprised when our senior leadership team said "fix it, and fix it properly. You have 24 hours, and if it glitches like this again we're holding you responsible for the millions of dollars we've lost this week, plus we're calling it a violation of the contract we have with you" ... Or something to that effect. Unsurprisingly, things got better, AND they had it fixed in 20 hours... Two weeks ago, our warehouse couldn't print anything because the computers demanded we update the drivers for the printer. Should be simple... Oh wait, such is locked with admin access. Over an hour on the phone later with IT, it still wasn't resolved, the person had tried to do the same thing six times under a user account, the entire time the warehouse staff were going "use your login!" .... They created a ticket to fix it. Our warehouse found a workaround to fix the same problem when it cropped up this week that doesn't require an hour on the phone, but they aren't telling IT because they're fairly certain such a workaround would be removed by IT... They also centralized our service call center this year, and instead of having service techs there, they hired "normal" people, and gave them manuals... Because those will tell someone with little to no technical experience how to navigate the service menus of our higher end devices, or work through troubleshooting things. Best of all, they were only provided manuals for the newest firmware, which of course has everything in a different spot than the old firmware that's running on three quarters of our devices... Our external techs are upgrading them as they can (same as our presently bare bones inside service techs) but when you have a stack of calls to go to and the upgrade takes 25-30 minutes, the upgrade tends to be "forgotten" in favour of fixing 1-3 more machines in the same amount of time, because half that time is writing down and re-setting all the settings the customer had... Don't get me wrong, that new firmware on a VKI Excellenza Touch is downright amazing compared to the old (more options, everything on one screen instead of slow scrolling, more config options, GUI responds 3x faster since its optimized code, etc) but yeaaaah. 3 hours ago, Crowley said: Okay, work done, dinner consumed, dishes washed. I got the strong impression the lost lands book was for someone who had 1 of the FFG campaign settings and wanted world information without buying the other settings. To me it is the least of their publications and it could have been so much more. It could have been filling in the cracks if the world with information on untouched areas of the world but in reality, it's just. A regurgitated summary of the world setting that is to deep to be a player guide and too shallow to be a world guide. Personally I use the lost lands to create the dark continent to Farun so I can draw on the forgotten realms setting info when I need to fill in the cracks. I like the setting and the old timey feel of the books for the campaign settings but that book is missing originality What I wish they would make is an update pack for their books, updating the Rappan Atuk for 5th ed or s&s from pathfinder or Vice verse. I really don't want to spend another chunk of.change to purchase the same content with updated monsters. 2 hours ago, WhiteWulfe said: Ugh, they outsourced our IT division two years ago. I've already had to remind my guys not to step in or provide work around. The company was nasty about this as most of the people they cut loose were instrumental in supporting the company during the ransomeware crisis we had last year and this just seems wrong. Plus, I can't see where it saves us money. It really doesn't add up. But I don't have any power except I told you so and to batten down the hatches on the process network to keep it out of their hands. And watch the business network burn. 5

Fortunately we are a manufacturing facility rather than a tech or data facility and we have survived a complete loss of IT support before (Just last year as a matter of fact.) Given the timing and history, I fully expecting a meltdown in March (March and I have not gotten along since 2013 but the last few years gets me to face that month with absolute dread!) On the plus side, we still hold internal control of the process control systems and most of the MIZ (had to give up the historians but the outsourcing company wound up hiring our lead employee who ran that part) My main concern is getting new stuff and interface work done and who is going to handle all the little things that the current IT group handles. when asked who was going to handle the phones, security systems, camera systems, etc, the response was "we're working on that" considering some of these systems are 3 decades old, it will get fun. My group has already stepped forward and stated "not it!" so we will see how that goes. they also have this vaunted tech support system which has a fatal flaw that no one will listen to: its all accessed through your computer, so if you cant get on your computer, you cant access the help services! This ought to be all sorts of fun! I run the company Process controls division so there are a lot of people who would like my group to just handle these functions with no additional people or money. I hate those tech "support" systems which are online only. They rarely work.

TheAuldGrump
Rereading the Necromancer Games edition of City State of the Invincible Overlord. My only negative comment is the lack of the Player's Map from the original. Fortunately, I purchased the Player's Map from Drive Thru. Unfortunately, Drive Thru has now dropped Judges Guild for reasons that belong in Beekeepers. (For the record - I agree with Drive Thru.) I am pretty sure that part of my discontent with Lost Lands is how much I liked the Necromancer Games version of The Wilderlands. (More is how much I have enjoyed previous Frog God Games setting books) The Auld Grump

Wanted me to move everything, heh yah right. Resetters are doing their thing, only prob with them is one has a Big Bad Body Odor on him, omg! Finally, the electricians, they are just in the way sometimes + they've got hip hop music on a boombox/charger. In the grand scheme of things it is fairly light damage for a roo, especially when the vehicle was travelling at pretty close to 100 when it hit helps that there's a lot of empty space on that side of the vehicle, so the likelihood of significant damage to any internal components is lower. What you can't really see in the photo is that the windscreen is also cracked from where the bonnet was pushed up into it. Damage that I could see/am aware of is bonnet, front quarter panel, driver's door, sheet metal on that a pillar, bumper, grille, radiator(or hose), headlight, and various small bits that connect to the bumper and headlight As to repairing it, it comes down to at what point the insurance decides it is uneconomical to repair, and how close it is to that point. Luckily we can manage with one car for the next few weeks, and at the moment trying to find a replacement vehicle sounds like too much of a pain to us!

Looking at products I remembered why I got out of it. I like the older racing cars, so to build say a 83 Drag Pro Stock car, I need to either find a donor kit (rare now, hard to find or $$$). Aftermarket decals, if they are made & a donor chassis. All in all it adds up quick & that doesn't include paint & other consumables......sigh. At least i have 2 kits of a 87 Pro Stocker i messed up the body on one, so I can donate that to a future build. I just need to spend about 40 bucks for a resin body. Quality is unlike resin minis we have in this hobby. One reason why i was i reluctant to buy resib minis & busts in the beginning. 5
