Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

It's very hot, so out of precaution I emptied the VAT of my 3D Printer.

Decided to paint for a while before printing again.

Primed my prints and a few items I wanted to paint as well..

 

So eeehhh...

It seems I'll HAVE to paint, or I won't have room to put new prints..

 

 

Oh and Brutus thinks it's too hot to be active today.

And you don't play D&D? What do you play? Is there something new you could try, a free RPG day pregen adventure you all could try out? Set up a rotating schedule of GMing? Everyone does it for a month, 4-6 weeks, before switching off to someone else.

 

We play a variety of genres using the GURPS system, mostly modern, sci-fi or horror. We've had a long running supers game that's on hold indefinitely because of the player that left.  That GM only wants to run and play superheroes.  Then they show up late or not at all for other games. The rest of us do take turns with whatever takes our fancy. We've played supernatural investigators, time hopping trouble shooters, and most recently, a futuristic cyberpunk game.  One member of the group has run a few games set in the Star Trek universe. I also ran a pair of Call of Cthulhu games.  I need a couple weeks to prep for one of those, though.  We play Gurps Fantasy  from time to time and we have an ongoing dungeon crawl on Roll20 right now and we'll probably end up playing that if the whole game doesn't get cancelled.  I'll know later today.  The fantasy game is a time-filler slog we use when we don't have a full table, which has been too often lately.  This virus thing has got everybody down, and not being able to meet and blow off steam is not making it any easier.

The Temple Dragon is cool.  I have wanted to paint it since I saw the concept art.  I got the metal version as soon as it came out.... and still have not finished the gap-filling.  At least the Bones version doesn't need assembly. I'll be watching to see how that comes out.

With our Sea Climate and high humidity that means it's not funny...

I prefer the dry heat..

I distinctly remember it being multiple pieces in Bones, although I can't recall as to how many...

 Ugh.  Yeah, that's not a nice temperature, especially if you're not used to it.  We will have some day like that this weekend, and probably through the rest of the month.  Lemonade is good on a hot day.

You may be right. My Bones are still in a big tub, unassembled.

The Temple Dragon in the Kickstarter came assembled, but it's unassembled in the blisters. I can't recall how many pieces either. 

I know this because I broke mine from the Kickstarter while trying to disassemble it to use in my ReaperCon 2018 diorama entry.  I had to order a replacement, and was pleasantly surprised to find it came unassembled.

Edit: Alternate things I've been so tempted to pitch since they want the grandkids to add in to the giant write-up of doom...

my condolences.  It may have been expected but a passing can still be rough.  Keep him alive in your memories and in your heart!

I just sent a note around saying I had nothing prepared this week, either.  I don't, and I'm not spending two days cramming for a game no one is enthusiastic about. 

 

There might be a few of us who would be willing to be substitutes for a video style game.  I'm the senior GM in my group (in all senses of the word, unfortunately ) so, although we are playing a DnD campaign right now, we are planning a variety of things once this campaign ends or gets put on ice (its a double campaign the first is a low level saltmarsh campaign to develop the characters and build levels, the second is about the high level threats on their world and personal quests)  so we are looking at BattleTech, 7th Sea, Numenera, and bouncing around a few others until something clicks for a while.

Anyway, I am wandering a little off topic.  my group took a hit from the video scenario when a couple of the players decided they didn't like the environment (I was a little disturbed when their reasoning was that they couldn't watch to make sure others were paying attention...) so I reached out to some of the attached younger generation and now our group has 3 youngins in it who are cousins and siblings of my players.  Its another option and the teenagers socialization activities are sort of limited so they are willing to try new things at this point for someone to talk to, even if they are old (like 25 or something...)

Pffff, got a message from a ex-warrant.

He retired last October, I attended to his goodbye party.

A few months before that he and his wife had bought a nice house.

His daughters are bot adult, one has joined the Army.

 

And now a few months later his wife wants a divorce.

He has been away a lot during his years of service, was stationed at the base and only went home for the weekends.

Now it seems she can't handle having him around much?

He joined the voluntary firebrigade so it's not like he does nothing.

 

At this moment they're on vacation to see what can be salvaged.

I do hope they can work it out.

 

He lives 600km away from me ( he lives in Germany) so hopping by isn't a real option.

 

 

Well that's a bummer, although I have seen it happen before, especially if he was in charge of people or expects things to happen a certain way.  As for distance, that's an old world, new world thing.  I've been known to drive 400km for a game and then drive back the same night, so 600km for an overnight would not be too much of a stretch.  We typically drive 1200km each way for thanksgiving at my brother's house each year.

36-37 degrees is a miserable temperature, and I don't care what system you're using.  its either too hot or too cold!  not the worst I've been in, but its still icky.  good luck and try to stay cool!

I just love it when customers report symptoms that are virtually impossible.  The teller cannot go from Screen A to Screen Z without some sort of process or error message screen(s) B thru Y displaying first. 

If what this guy today is saying is true, then a) he's going to spend about $3k in replacement boards and b) it will be the first time in 15-16 years a teller has ever acted that way. 

So the most likely cause is that he's not reporting the symptoms to me accurately. Even after I asked him three times. I don't even think he's been to the site to retest in the last three days, based on what I can see when I remote in. 

And some people wonder why they can't ever get things solved quickly...

Yeah, it came in pieces.

The big gaps I filled in using the baking soda and super glue trick. My first time using it. I'm impressed!

 

I'm going to try painting eyespots on the wings. Not sure how well it'll work...

Day off and so I am finally awake at 10:30! We had a big birthday  dinner out, so I’m sure I had the calories to spare. Now to think how I can salvage the day. 
 

Gonna go pick beetles off the trees then maybe work on that sento design.
