redambrosia
You know the most annoying thing about job searching nowadays? It’s how you fill out an online form, with your work history, skills, and references, and that’s supposedly all you need. But then you have jobs that you have to log in and create a new profile, or the ones that for some stupid reason, require you to fill out a paper application. Isn’t that what printers are for?????? 8
Green Eyed Monster
My Black Oak Games Kickstarter Rewards arrived today. Three sets of dice, two embroidered dice bags, and three large baked enamel medallions, plus extra D20s. Getting a Kickstarter Reward in the mail is like a little bit of Christmas showing up. Helps to counteract dealing with the crushing bureaucracy that is Nevada Energy. GEM

(which was fine, we'd never heard of that before!). Also! No clicky spoiler, if you don't want arachnids. I'm serious. Spoiler Finally got a decent picture of the weaver!
Marvin
Welp. Reckon I'm switching from Verizon to AT&T in the morning. Coverage is trash here, and I can get a new phone for half the price. Would've done it tonight but I need to hop on the computer to finish it off. Anyway--there's no reason on the face of things not to do this, right? I don't know. I just hate change, so everything always seems like a bad idea waiting to spring.

But He lives way out on a county road in Minnesota. His "driveway" is 1/4 of a mile long and lined with trees on both sides. The big-elf snowblower attachment on the tractor is how he gets in and out from the house to the public roads in the winter. Snow Handling is a way of life up there. Last Feb? I think… He went out to the shed, that is attached to the barn, where the tractor lives, one cold morning. He tried to fire it up: no response, no lights, no error codes, NO NUTHIN'. Apparently copper is yummy to rodentia? (If you are wondering: he once had a collection of barn cats that might have prevented this but they all reached their expiration dates several years ago and M.E.O.W did not send any replacement operatives.) Anyway all the wires inside the thing were done for. The logistics of getting the dead-as-a-doornail tractor hauled to the Deere Dealership were interesting and expensive and a full harness replacement was outta sight. He ended up at $750+ when it was all said and done. (The folk at the dealership figured out how to repair the harness rather than order a whole new one and luckily that saved several hundred bucks….the full harness was a $1500 part. )
Marvin
Ah, yes. Mice and equipment. We've done quite a bit of that. Of course, finding the snake living in the cab of the semi that time was pretty fun too... No mice tho!

It started during dinner when I just suddenly lost my appetite, didn't think much of it at the time (I'd made a pretty lousy lentil curry I won't be making again). Next thing I know, I'm really tired, I'm flip-flopping between being too hot or too cold, my sense of taste and smell went really dull and I was getting double-vision. So I went to bed expecting to feel terrible for the next few days, but after a couple hours sleep I'm mostly right as rain and eating a bag of onion rings. Don't want to scare you but the loss of smell and taste is a symptom with some people for Covid. Maybe you should get tested. On the up side, if you did get it and overcame it, you might no have antibodies. 8 hours ago, Pegazus said: Took my son’s car in for service. ( Marten, a weasel like animal) In Europe ( especially in Germany) these animals love to get under the hood of cars and they do damage the wiring. Werkrobotwerk
Got woken up by a text message saying don't come to campus. seems management decided after the end of work yesterday to delay the start of on campus labs to the 21st. I'm kind of glad not to need to go today, but that was waaaaay to late to decide that.
