Five can also be pronounced "fife", at least according to the RUTH (Radio Users Telephone Handbook) manual that I qualified with.

As in The Kingdom of Fife?  How odd

Today is going to be a multiple coffees kinds of day, I think.  It's payday, which should be cause for joy, but...  I got 2 paychecks, one for the "correct" amount, the other, much smaller, for an unknown reason.  Going over the pay-stubs online, nothing makes sense.  I "should" be getting less money (so the "correct" paycheck is wrong too) because of the 5 weeks off without pay I took this summer (they are supposed to average it out over the year) but instead it looks like I'm getting more money?!    This is way better than not getting paid, but they can be rather draconian about recovering money and I don't even understand all the weird codes they use.  Time to refill the coffee cup and try calling the pay center and likely spend half the morning on hold...  It's only been 4 years since they rolled out the new pay system and it still doesn't work...

Do you have Marters in your area? ( Marten, a weasel like animal)

In Europe ( especially in Germany) these animals love to get under the hood of cars and they do damage the wiring.

These guys:

Honestly, being in Colorado, I bet we do but at higher altitudes than here. I’m at a mere 1715m and I’d bet they are more in the mountains and alpines.

We do have coyotes, and the foxes are making a comeback after getting wiped by some disease a handful of years ago. The owls have been lazy and are focused on  other animals it seems.

I do have a solution to the bunny problem that our puppy trainer gave the group, but if I mentioned it at the dealership, they would refuse to work on the car anymore. It involves a large predator’s urine being sprinkled about, and she said the married women all had a two-legged source at home.

Apparently copper is yummy to rodentia?

It's generally not the copper itself, it's the insulation and the shape.  The shape is convenient to chew on and in recent years a lot of wires are using soy based insulation instead of petroleum based, making them tastier than before.

Yesterday I noticed one of the neighbor's trees had begun to change color, and there were a small amount of dead leaves already on the sidewalk...soon, soon the reign of the Yellow Orb That Burns and Blinds shall recede....

I'm beginning to feel more energized the closer to Fall/Winter we get. Perhaps it's the seasonal affective thing, but in reverse.

How tired was I last night?

Due to my attention span choosing to focus on ancient galley warfare (triremes, etc), I was climbing down a Wikihole to try and reinforce my pitiful knowledge of that time, and my brain had the thought:

"I wonder if anyone's ever published a sourcebook about the Hellenistic Period."

It seriously took me several moments to realize the term for what I wanted was 'history book'.

Today's fun circular "what is going on" moment.  No, I'm not going to comment about Montreal.  Today's story is from our call center in Calgary.

Order gets keyed in to be delivered to address a, but is misdelivered upstairs to address b (upstairs offices have a slightly different address).  That was Friday, from another driver I gave explicit instructions to deliver to address a.  Today, I have something in my route that says transfer product to correct location. Sure, no problem...

Except it is a problem, because address a never ordered said product.  Now we're trying to figure out where it's supposed to go, because this is a large account, and they get cranky when stuff doesn't go where its supposed to.  Me?  I'm thinking it was supposed to go to the training area, which is a completely different account, with its own address, but doesn't get delivered to address b, but instead is delivered to their main location's shipping and receiving....

it was me. I did it.

Seriously - this is me today:

Customer: Can you dial into this site at this number and do X for me?

Me: Sure <tries, can't get in>. That number is not working.
Customer: Are you sure? I just tested it.
Me: <tries again, still can't get in> Still not working.
Customer: Are you sure?
Me: <triple checks, discovers that I made two different typos.> Well crap, my fault.

And possibly you would wish to read The Athenian Trireme (Morrison, Coates & Rankov) about the experiences with the Greek Navy’s reconstructed trireme Olympias...

Alternatively, I have played Assassin's Creed Odyssey through twice and am ready to field your questions.

(That's a joke, obvs.)
