Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

Recommended Posts

Whipping up some rice this morning to go with the leftovers of the roast... And used most of the stock from the crockpot as the water for the rice.  This is either going to be really tasty rice, or an epic flop...

Either way, we'll have roast and rice..!

And a puppy one as well.

Orcas too!

These guys aren't live at the moment, but they often live stream footage from their deep sea remote sub. I was watching it once and saw a six gilled shark like the one you painted recently

Awesome, right?

Nature is beautiful, and I figured with lots of people confined to home or at least not being able to travel, this might lift some moods.

Montana winters weren't bad as long as you were in the valleys. Heard horror stories about getting up in the mountains proper.

Imagine the wind gets you on the plains, which has been my experience everywhere else. And, I mean, the northern High Plains down here are known for that cold blowing in unblocked from Canada. I assume y'all keep something colder still than what you send south.

Yeah we got wind. I don't mind the cold temps but when you add in a steady wind it can wear you down. It's not a lot of fun on the days I have to be outside for hours and you can't see much from ground drifting snow. We're not in a high snowfall area but it still blows in as fast as you can clean it sometimes. The flats will usually only have a foot or so but the coulees often have 6+ feet deep drifts. Fun to tunnel in and play as a kid. Not so fun when you need to drive through them to work.

I'm pretty sure that the official sign of transitioning to adulthood is when your attitude to snow changes from "yay" to "oh noes" <_<

Because that is what we do in this thread. Talk about food, ...and other mad science experiments:

This is what I salvaged ^ of my mad science experiment cooking from yesterday.

Tentative conclusions from the experiment:

1) Gryffins should not be allowed to prepare food.
2) The experiment failed to produce anything lethal (as the aforementioned test Gryffin remains among the living).

Loki figured out a long time ago that what's on the tv isn't real, and as such offers no nutritional value for him. The only things he's seemed vaguely interested in was a documentary about Great White Sharks, 6 Underground and the original Lion King  His brother is the total opposite, he'll settle down in the evening with the attitude of "Right, what are we watching tonight?". He'll also come running when he hears the voices of David Attenborough or(oddly) Ryan Reynolds.

I've got one cat that could care less about the tv, she just wants to sit on me. The other loves to watch nature videos. Had a squirrel one on youtube for a while that would get her pawing at the screen, but it's gone now.

We get that wind coming down off the Rockies across Kansas and it feels like it is taking the skin off your face.  I'm looking forward to wearing a mask this winter.

Looks ok.  Suggestion:  microwave potato as usual.  Scoop out soft inner part and mix with butter and cheese. Stuff it back into potato skins and microwave again.

Imma go fry me an egg for breakfast.

Mildly annoying issue for the next couple days:

20200917_094821.thumb.jpg.cb2bcff36d78fd2817b0e028fae63925.jpg

City advised us that they are doing sewer system flushing today and tomorrow,  and that we should block drains and cover toilets just in case any backflow happens.

So now it's not just about putting seat down, now we have to remember to put the towel back on, too.

I guess that's less annoying than cleaning up a bigger mess, should one happen.
