On one hand, it’s property I may visit once or twice ever as I go to ReaperCon, plus there’s no way the wife will want to move somewhere so humid even if she can then have the herd of beagles she wants. But, I can easily pay the property taxes, more than likely, and it was my great-great grandparent’s land. I’m fine with it being a wild place for the animals. May even make it a wintering home (avoids the humidity), if there is a farmhouse and it can be saved. Plus, I won’t need the cash for anything since I am nearing the point where a job isn’t necessary. Curious as to The Collective’s thoughts. Honestly. I mean, if you want to keep it just for fun and can do that comfortably, go for it. Pretty much all land goes up in value over time. Investment/money-wise, depends entirely on what it is, of course.

Also think of it this way, 10 acres of possible mini storage!

Not sure if the mineral rights are included with it or the bigger plot it once was part of. Grandma’s share of the oil money was $15-35 per year, and I’ll be getting a quarter of that. About enough to buy a cup of coffee. If you will be getting a few bucks from a sliver of an oil lease, then yes, it has to include the mineral rights.

Right, I understand that. But, the land rights and the mineral rights may be separate entities at this point. Actually, they are at this point. I will be getting the mineral rights for sure as part of a larger legal grouping. I have the option for the land rights, but only 10 acres and not the larger plot.
Marvin
Even piddling, worthless mineral rights were an apparent rarity when we were out in Texas. Everything we owned, they'd been separated from the land generations earlier. See that more around here these days, since natural gas picked up and all, but it was kinda crazy at first, nobody quite owning their own land through and through. 5

So, again in theory, even the end of entropy cannot prevent the continuation of entropy!

The PDSA offers the following statistics on the hero rat: • Name: Magawa. • Sex: Male. • Date of birth: Nov. 5, 2014. • Birthplace: Morogoro, Tanzania. • Current Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia. • Length: 70 centimeters (27.5 inches). • Weight: 1,230 grams (2.7 pounds). • Favorite food: Bananas and peanuts. • Favorite toy: Running wheel in the playground. • Personality: A determined worker and always friendly. • Temperament: Quick and decisive. Likes to take naps at break time. • Favorite activities: Eating watermelon and looking for landmines, knowing he’ll be rewarded with bananas. • What he has in common with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex: Magawa and the duchess share the same jeweler: Cleave & Company. The court jewelers struck Magawa’s miniature PDSA Gold Medal as well as creating Meghan's engagement ring. •How big is Magawa’s medal: It is 18.25 millimeters (0.72 inches) in diameter and weighs 3.9 grams (0.14 ounces). 5

Because regardless of how it's implemented, moderation universally improves internet spaces. All of the rest of you who posted many pages of beautiful oceans, you're really not helping me patiently wait to be able to go on a proper vacation again. I tried to sate hubby's wish for a beach vacation with the Olympic Peninsula, but the water was really, really cold. Beautiful, but frigid. Hopefully next summer we might be able to go on a proper vacation. 10

About enough to buy a cup of coffee. Ardmore's a nice area, wooded and hilly, not too built up, but enough that you've got various services and business. I would at least go out and look at it. It could be a good investment for retirement or vacations. OTOH, if what you're inheriting is a soybean field, you may have different thoughts, like renting it to a local farmer.
