Thanks for all the comments on the land. Managed to find it on the county assessors’ website. Property taxes are $7 a year, and the land itself is valued at less than the cost of a new car. I’ll email my aunt tonight and see if she’s willing to let me have it in lieu of cash.

This is my thought also.

You mentioned the possibility of a farmhouse.  If this is the case, is it in the realm of the possible to consider it as a possible source of income through rental/lease of either the house or the arable land for crop production?

Even if it only carried the costs of Property Taxes and maintenance, as has been pointed out, they just don't make more land. {Unless you live on a Volcanic Island, which carries its own set of interesting possible scenarios].

Yes, I was active in the Bees, but in the end this is a Hobby Forum and that's why I came here in the first place.

Let's create this little bubble, call it the Neutral Zone, No Man's Land, whatever, let's all be at peace here and talk hobby, fun, lighthearted stuff so we can unwind and be friends and family like we used to be here.

Let's teach and learn techniques for painting, sculpting, printing, drawing etc.

Here we can find common ground, no matter you're background, you all once came here for this one thing.

Let's stay for that!

 

The rest, well there is a whole World out there where one can discuss all they want.

Personally, I think of the Reaper Forum's as a Walled Garden where, to the greatest extent possible, the World Is Shut Out.

This is a place for peace, tranquility, beauty, shared joy, and shared sorrow, without involving [to the greatest extent possible]  the uglier mundanities which we need to escape from [Out there is Mordor, all the Orcspawn, and all the other nastiness.  In here is an Elvin Kingdom, which requires constant vigilance on the part of all , with the Moderators acting as our Border Wardens.]

I don't know if these analogies work for anyone else, but they sufice for my humble needs.

Out of curiosity, how much *is* the land worth?

 

At $7/year, even considering inflation, it's a steal, well worth keeping. Who knows what your plans will be or what will develop in that area in the next 20 years.
