if there is one thing that stays the same its that things will change!

Eventually, with the heat death of the universe, even the constant change will stop being a constant. I mean... Just sayin'... ::P:

Well there is a theory that the big bang created the universe when the previous universe reached its heat death condition.  So, again in theory, even the end of entropy cannot prevent the continuation of entropy!

:winkthumbs:

tbh, I didn't think rats were capable of sniffing out landminds or at least trained to do that......

The PDSA offers the following statistics on the hero rat:

• Name: Magawa.

• Sex: Male.

• Date of birth: Nov. 5, 2014.

• Birthplace: Morogoro, Tanzania.

• Current Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia.

• Length: 70 centimeters (27.5 inches).

• Weight: 1,230 grams (2.7 pounds).

• Favorite food: Bananas and peanuts.

• Favorite toy: Running wheel in the playground.

• Personality: A determined worker and always friendly.

• Temperament: Quick and decisive. Likes to take naps at break time.

• Favorite activities: Eating watermelon and looking for landmines, knowing he’ll be rewarded with bananas.

• What he has in common with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex: Magawa and the duchess share the same jeweler: Cleave & Company. The court jewelers struck Magawa’s miniature PDSA Gold Medal as well as creating Meghan's engagement ring.

•How big is Magawa’s medal: It is 18.25 millimeters (0.72 inches) in diameter and weighs 3.9 grams (0.14 ounces).

I'm sorry Oneboot, but I am going to have a hard time thinking of the cute purple kitty as wielding dangerous modly powers

That's what makes her dangerous.

See, TaleSpinner has much wisdom.  I have three adorable daughters.  Two of them (used to) take karate.  They do not look any less adorable just because they learned to block and punch.  Fortunately they only use their powers for good.

Congrats (I guess) to all the new and renewed mods, may your bats always be within easy reach of your hands.  Because regardless of how it's implemented, moderation universally improves internet spaces.

All of the rest of you who posted many pages of beautiful oceans, you're really not helping me patiently wait to be able to go on a proper vacation again.  I tried to sate hubby's wish for a beach vacation with the Olympic Peninsula, but the water was really, really cold.  Beautiful, but frigid.  Hopefully next summer we might be able to go on a proper vacation.

Hmm. Should I inherit 10 acres of land in southern Oklahoma simply for the LOLs, or take cash?

......

Curious as to The Collective’s thoughts. Honestly.

Nope, Carter County, so more Ardmore area. Most likely closer to Healdton.

Not sure if the mineral rights are included with it or the bigger plot it once was part of. Grandma’s share of the oil money was $15-35 per year, and I’ll be getting a quarter of that. About enough to buy a cup of coffee.

Ardmore's a nice area, wooded and hilly, not too built up, but enough that you've got various services and business.  I would at least go out and look at it.  It could be a good investment for retirement or vacations.   OTOH, if what you're inheriting is a soybean field, you may have different thoughts, like renting it to a local farmer.

What they don’t tell you is that all those extinctions were caused by Sharknados!!

Its a plot by the sharks to keep the planet to themselves!

Hmm, this hit a little to close to home for me. Have trouble concentrating lately.

Well, see that’s basically what it’s like to be pregnant. Just add peeing a little when you cough or sneeze <_<

On one hand, it’s property I may visit once or twice ever as I go to ReaperCon, plus there’s no way the wife will want to move somewhere so humid even if she can then have the herd of beagles she wants.

But, I can easily pay the property taxes, more than likely, and it was my great-great grandparent’s land. I’m fine with it being a wild place for the animals. May even make it a wintering home (avoids the humidity), if there is a farmhouse and it can be saved. Plus, I won’t need the cash for anything since I am nearing the point where a job isn’t necessary.

Curious as to The Collective’s thoughts. Honestly.

I agree with pretty much everyone else; take the land.

Yeah, this.

Work day done, taking Monday off. Driving to PA and back tomorrow.

Need a drink.... probably dinner too. And to finish packing the car. One load to go I think.

Unfortunately, now you have to deal with... <dramatic music>... the Meeping Angels!

Thanks for all the comments on the land. Managed to find it on the county assessors’ website. Property taxes are $7 a year, and the land itself is valued at less than the cost of a new car. I’ll email my aunt tonight and see if she’s willing to let me have it in lieu of cash.

New band name: Soprano Alligator.

Or possibly just a new D&D NPC.

Would that NPC possibly be Tony the Soprano Alligator?

People name their kids after geographical features but choose things like "Dale" and "River" instead of awesome terrain like "Volcano" and "Glacier" and "Boulder Field."

And somehow I just can't get the thought "Basalt Dike" out of my mind because of this post.

Actually it works very well for a Discworld troll.
