I am present.

It was suddenly sprung on me that I need to craft midterm evals on all my students. Gonna take the opportunity to see if I can drop a few people from my class, they haven't done anything or turned anything in or shown up to class...

I feel like I missed you changing jobs.  Sounds like you have it all under control, though...

I furloughed myself from the IRS for the Fall in August because an opportunity to teach at the Local Overpriced University came up. I literally had one week to hear about it, prepare a CV, interview, get hired, prepare for class, fill out all the furlough paperwork, get permission from the government, get set up...

I go back to the IRS mid December. The university may want to keep me, but they do pay me about a third of what I make at my real job so...

Have you been using d100s to grade reports?

Had to go get Mrs. Hamster some maternity pants as things are getting chilly. Target was an unpleasant experience. Too many people, not all following pandemic protocols, and the little stickers on the floor for the snake line check out that are spaced 6' apart? Were only 3' apart when measuring sideways in the zigzag line....

Broccoli-heads all around.

I hope everyone is having a great day and has had their drink of choice this AM. Wife had her 6 week check up yesterday and the doctor was so impressed she gets to skip to the head of the class and come back next August. I asked for today and tomorrow off and ended up getting it.... So it has been a lazyish day for me. the wife and youngest son have been doing homework most of the day trying to get it done so we can go to her nephews birthday tomorrow. I did some work on my Inktober drawing, it was minor work and I need to get to it today as well. Well hope your day continues to be great or get there for you.

Brewing day at the Thoramel house today. My wife decided to brew her first beer. She brewed an oatmeal stout with one of her friends on my big outdoor rig (20 gallon capacity). I brewed a much smaller batch of an imperial hot pepper and chocolate stout on the stove at the same time. It worked well as I was hanging out nearby in the event they had a question, but wasn't just standing around being all mansplainy while they tried to work. I'm excited by this development. Because while I may be a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to cooking equipment, my wife definitely is not. She's already eyeing some nice equipment upgrades I could never bring myself to buy. And here's a picture of my ingredients today, I'm going for "Oh that's good," followed closely by "why is my mouth on fire?"

I'd hope for the Magic 8 ball......

Saturday D&D went well this morning. As I mentioned before, I only had 2 people so I had to give em a life cleric (named him Ronaldo Lopez Martinez Escobar & his deity was Sune) I gave him a Puss N Boots accent. Other then the lack of people for my Saturday game, I'm glad I started doing it.

Today has been very blah. Haven't had a lot of energy or thinking capacity.  Some things:

  • I made lunch, Husband assisted. He told me to get the non-stick pan as per the recipe. I proceeded to grab our plain stainless steel pan that is very much not non-stick. I wasn't thinking and put oil in it before realizing "oh, this is not the non-stick pan." I used it anyway. I made fish. It stuck. It fell apart trying to flip it. We ended up with a pile of broken fish and bits of crispy skin I salvaged from the pan. The carrots on the side were better than the fish.
  • I need to finish organizing the kitchen. Which at this point requires me going through the Tupperware. I am dreading this but it's already all sitting on the counter yelling at me every time I enter the kitchen. So, hopefully, that'll get done today or tomorrow.
  • It is also cat fluids day. That will happen after Husband wakes up from his nap.
  • I'm also very nervous to check the mail. We got a letter in there from the HOA. I'm super hoping that it is the water bill and not a fine about our yard. We already got a warning and did what we could to make it nicer. I have the number of a yard guy I was supposed to call like 2 weeks ago and keep forgetting to do it. So, Monday, I /have/ to do it. Spoons or not.

ETA: I still have to make dinner.

Call them fish nuggets. If it works for chicken...

@NebulousMissy before your tenure at the university ends, you should see if they have any tamer tabs/boiling chips that they might be willing to part with. They make excellent rocks for bases. Though they might be more of an ochem lab than gen chem supply.
