Happy hump day everyone!!

We finally got my son's results (negative, as we assumed) yesterday so we're free!!  I went for a 30 minute walk this morning in the dark and rain to celebrate and it was glorious!

We've been told to go in to the office to clear out our stuff as they don't expect us back in there any time soon...  I miss the office.  I don't miss the commute but talking to people face to face, the impromptu discussions or follow-ups because you just happened to run into someone in the hallway...  I've got a pretty snazzy set up now at home with a new desk and all, but I miss people.  My old job was also primarily a chair-kicking type of job (I was the guy who made people groan when I showed up because I was about to throw their whole schedule out the window...) and doing it remotely really didn't work.

Hope everyone's Wednesday is a good one!

Oh, have I got a work story. Nothing too dramatic but I have to share.

So, I wake up and see an email from the office came in at about 7:13, saying I have to train someone who's going to be working on Sunday and Monday. I groan and get ready for work. I get to work early and pick up a few things I'll need for a training night. Shift start rolls around and no trainee. Call my boss, say "WTF, dude? Where are they?" He says he's going to call the office and have them call him. Boss turns up with the training paperwork and says that the trainee called out "a while ago" because they had a migraine. I just threw up my hands and threw the paperwork on the desk. I'm sorry, but I've worked with an inflamed appendix (and had it removed after I got off work) and slipped disk in my back. My sympathy levels are very low right now. We've also had a lot of people call out because they're overworked and stressed out. I do understand that migraines just stop you in your tracks but if they could have come in for at least part of the shift... *throws up hands and throws papers all over*

EDIT: The thing that sends me over the edge is the complete lack of communication. My boss was buried all night because they failed to tell him about several other people who also called out.

So because apparently I have a sack of squirrels instead of an attention span, I'm now pondering the conversion of a bunch of fantasy figures into Star Wars types.  Again.  So far I've got Willow Greenivy needing a lightsaber and The WWotW needing Tara The Silent's head, in an "of Vecna" sense.

Ok, ok, I'm awake. Isn't that good enough?

No.  In addition to being conscious, I further demand that you be of good cheer with a spring in your step and a smile on your face.  In fact, if you are not the most insufferable sort of bright-eyed morning person, full of pep and good vibes, I can assure you there will be most dreadful consquences.  You may, for example, be allowed to only consume donuts with neither glaze nor sprinkles.  This will continue until you decide to be a team player and your morale improves.  As a sign of good faith and my full confidence that you will choose the right path, you may now indulge yourself with one or more pastry confections of your choosing.

You sure you're on the east coast?  You seriously sound like the folks in Montreal atm!

Note: I've no problem with the city, or people who live there. It's the upper management at work that my beef is with.

Finally got back from the city after waiting the better part of 7 hours in the car. Molly's surgery went well, all still indicates it was just a lipoma that somehow formed. They'll still send it to pathology to confirm nothing weird about it. Mass hadn't grown into any muscle tissue, they only had to remove the underlying skin and fat layers, so she won't have any impairment to her neck/throat function. She has to stay the night at the hospital, but I can call and ask about her at any time (which I will of course do at least twice, I wager). And she should be able to come home tomorrow.

That was a long 7 hour wait. Lot of stress eating (packed a snack bag), several cans of Coke (or as our Scottish friends call it, the "fizzy black full fat juice"), and sooo much hand sanitizer used (because it's become such a habit now). The look of "aren't you coming with me?" on Molly's face when they took her from the car was enough to make me sick in the stomach. Almost boaked.

Oh no!

That's one of the biggest fears of every pet owner.

Could they tell you if it's a slow or fast spreading kind?

Depending on the treatment and age of the dog it can make a difference.

Stupid disease.

So I got Dixie an appointment for next Tuesday to have the mass evaluated at the animal hospital. To help save some money on tests, the family vet coordinated with them and tomorrow Dixie gets dropped off at the vet for a full blood panel and chest x-rays. Honestly, that soon of an appointment was far better than what I was expecting them to get. I suspect the tests and eval will determine who (family vet vs hospital) will remove the mass (because there is only the one mass... positive thinking... positive thinking...).

Sounds like at least a little bit of good news, so I'm happy to hear that.

I'll continue sending positive waves in the hopes of more good news.
