Y'know, between all the CoVID deaths and all the shootings, and all the famous people dying this year, I'm starting to wonder if I'm still alive... Or am I actually dead and my ghost is just showing up to work every day?

Just watch for dead pixels in the sunset or mesh collision errors in the woods.  You should be fine otherwise.

All Hail Brave St. Robin.  Or something.

I had actually typed my second post with an initial linefeed expecting it to merge.  I flaunt ye no privilege, at least none on purpose.  Or porpoise.

"Flaunt the Porpoise" would be a great neo-swingpunk band.

COFFEE!!  Eh, too late... BEER!!

What a week... and it's only Wednesday... *sigh*

Docs still want to induce Mrs. Hamster around the 23rd. I'd rather the little one stay in for a little longer, but... gotta trust the medical professionals. And Mrs. Hamster did again have elevated BP at her appointment today... so...

MOAR BEER!!

Oof. Being induced sucks! But the BP issues are so much scarier. Remember, don’t let her eat the salmon before everything starts! Fish barf is just the nastiest!

Here’s the sort of cuteness you have to look forward to

yes, she’s using forks to eat her Cheerios. She’s actually doing quite well learning to use utensils.

I need to get some minis on bases and take pictures so I can post instructions for my quick and easy modern bases. Which I have been putting off for a week or two. And I have to figure out what solo minis game I want to play tomorrow night. I like doing my gaming blog but it's starting to feel like work again... I'll probably take a break at the start of the year. Plus, I should be working on my writing. And painting. And I'm going to stop myself right there. :upside:

I'm thinking about shooting out another Reaper order tomorrow when I get paid. I'm just going to die from an overdose of minis, I swear.

Oooh I love plain donuts!  Old Fashion, plain please!  Can I be punished as well?

You don't count, since having a goblin avatar means you like to suffer.  Punishment is only for people who don't like it.  In your case, as in mine, the appropriate punishment would be the forced consumption of good, nutritious, or otherwise normally tasty food.

Semi-related:  I had a cat once who loved plain cake donuts.  Would go absolutely mental over them, god only knows why.  He loved them so much that if you were eating one he'd climb up on your chest and tickle your face with his whiskers to try and make you laugh.  If you did, the second you opened your mouth he'd stick his face in to get at the tasty donut mush inside.  I will never stop missing that stoopid cat.

And yet, the aggregate death toll for the year in the USA is down from the average of the tally from previous years.

It's down by close to 100,00 people according to the people who keep track of these matters.

A bit of a data nerd here. Curious as to your source for that number? Not disagreeing with you. Just interested in how that data is being compiled. I was under the impression that, in the US at least, 2020 was on track for an increase in the number of deaths even if we discount the extra mortality due to Covid. The last time I read a paper on this it was looking like excess deaths (that is, the number of actual deaths above the estimated expected deaths averaged based on prior years) in the US was around 16,000 people. Once again, that does not count Covid mortality.  Of course these studies have limitations in how accurate they can be, but that seems like a very major discrepancy and I'm interested to see why that is.

I know that all seems pretty morbid. But for a while in grad school I taught an undergrad course on population stats and I've had a passing interest in it ever since. Hence the curiosity.

Un-motivated right now, sadly I need to get some things done!! At least after work tonight, I'll be off till next Saturday night (17th).

I think I'll go up to the sports card shop & might stop into the game store. The sports card shop guy I've known since I was a jr in hs. A few weeks ago his house was broken into & I haven't been able to catch him in his store. Hopefully he's open today.

Yeah.

I discovered this when we had the 60 mph tropical storm blow through Philly this year. It was... exactly the same as a normal everyday Philly storm. We even got the eye and it was just [meh]
