Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

Recommended Posts

For the last day I've tried so hard to talk myself into buying that Walther PPK/S in .380 I've been wanting... but I just couldn't do it. Too much money.

As a consolation I did talk myself into buying a half dozen shirts on sale at JCPenney though, so at least I will be well-dressed while I'm not enjoying a shiny new pistol.

Wearing your new shirt and drinking your shaken not stirred Martini?

With current high demand there are no "deals" to be had.

It's a combination of these two GW minis, a really old Griffin and the newer Mindstealer Sphiranx. He just didn't look right without wings!

He is much improved with the wings. You are not wrong.

@Kuroneko--I really like that sphinx kit-bash; I think it looks much better than it did in it's original form. :winkthumbs:

Also, as a fan of blueberries, I heartily approve of 40% blueberries blueberry muffins.

And you are also not wrong. Twice in a row.

Mostly Mrs Hamster and I work like this too, though we haven't been together as long as Dilvish and Awesome Wife.

On the other hand, we've been in a small NYC apartment together pretty much non-stop since March, so we both appreciate a little "alone" time. As for chores, they get done before hobby stuff.

This morning I got my score for the CPA FAR exam. 73%. Needed a 75% to pass. Honestly that was better than I was expecting, but... Broccoli. Now I have to take the elfing thing over again.

And I cancelled D&D last night because my brain was goo dribbling out of my head. Working early and late every day this week, and just... If it wasn't for the imminent arrival of Baby Hamster, 2020 would just be the worst.

Coffee.... maybe with whiskey...

Keep working on it.

Sounds like the next attempt will be the one. ::):

At the time, I could. (I think I could have, right up until about eight years ago....)

Just six years ago, I could still do Cossack dances.

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-54465361  Weird. The TV news hyped it 3X and then either cut it for sports or I blinked and missed it. But there is the BBC version of it. That could let real dogs actually do what Cerberus the TV SEAL Team dog appears to do on the TV show of the same name.

Oh my, such acting, I have never seen!

Sharing it with BD. ::D:

You know it's a good movie when a dodgy job of dubbing only makes it even better!

So, I talked myself out of inflicting it on you, so you sought it out yourself.... ::D:

Our party is knee deep in a cold swamp.... My Detect Evil is showing the whole damned swamp, and we keep getting the feeling that somebody is watching us.

There is supposed to be a settlement here, somewhere, but all we've found so far are flooded and abandoned hovels and the tracks of something big.

No bones, so far.

Okay world, stop being weird.

Just found a job offer for Volunteer Coordinator in my e-mails....

Just showing up for the interview will get me free cheese from the Cabot Creamery Cooperative.

Free. Cheese.

For a job interview.

Do I even want to know, or is better left as a mystery?

The interview is in Augusta, but I'm tempted - been too long since I got free cheese I worked as a volunteer coordinator.

@TheAuldGrump I would ask some harsh questions before I attended that interview!

One can't be too careful!

Questions that NEED an answer

  • How much cheese are we talking about exactly?
  • Are we talking one kind or several?
  • Will there be the right wine to accompany said cheese(s)?
  • Are there figs/dates/grapes to go with the cheese or olives and mustard?
  • Will there be a doggy bag for left overs?
  • Oh..and what will we be coordinating? More Cheese??

I'm sorry you have to go through the mill again but you are so close that third time should see you getting a pass.

The advantage is, you now know how the system works so you don't have to stress over that part of the process.

The CPA Exam is a deliberately designed system to limit the number of new CPAs so don't feel to bad.  There's a lot of people out there who didn't come as close as you did, and the way the system is designed they didn't actually pass very many people this go round.

GEM

So...

There are 4 parts to the exam. The AUD part it took me 2 tries.

This most recent test was the FAR exam. Hopefully the second time will be the charm, and there won't need to be a 3rd.

The usual pass rate for any part of the exam is around 50%.

@Crowley---That's a real kick in the pants about the test, I'm sorry to hear it. It's probably not much, but doing better than you thought you might should feel a little good though, right?

Do you get detailed results, like what you did poorly on so you can work on that, or is it just a generic "here's your score, have a nice life"?

Currently just the score. Monday they'll show the very very high level breakdown. And yeah, feeling good that I did better than I thought.

COFFEE!

its a volunteer fire department coodinator.  Have you heard firemen after a run?  Of course there will be cheese

we are talking about volunteers.  Of course there will be whine... lots of whine.

on a serious note volunteer fire fighters are awesome people and put their lives on the line to save other.  But they can be a handful to deal with!
