Bummer, I hope you will find something that suits you soon.

@Kangaroorex @Thoramel ours is the European Sweet Chestnut.

We have two kinds,

The Sweet Chestnut which is edible and the Horse Chestnut which is not edible.

Edible Sweet Chestnut

Not Edible Horse Chestnut

I'm very familiar with the Horse Chestnuts.  Growing up there was a huge tree by my bus stop (rural, so random driveway we all stood at waiting for the school bus). We used to have massive chestnut fights (like a snowball fight but with chestnuts) in the fall.....those things sting!

Bought some chestnuts last year at a local market. They were all moldy and rotten inside so I didn't get to try them. Probably doesn't help that it's not a very common tree in North Texas, we do so dearly love our pecans....

Last night was fun!! First game back at the FLGS running Adventure League games. We had 4 people playing. I admire one of the players & he's a friend but he lives north of here, about 2 hrs roundtrip & he shows up for both my Saturday & Monday games. Next week, he's gonna take the DM slot as he wants to run games, I don't mind, gives me a opp to be a player.

It's funny couple of the players was a young man (allot younger then me, but in his twenties) & his daughter. I thought he looked familiar but of course face masks, so when I asked again for their names, his daughter who was around 9  or 10, said "Taylor", he said with 2 Ys, so Tayylor. There is only one person I know or heard of with 2 Ys like that. I asked "Is her mom, Melissa?" & he responded yes. Her grandparents are my neighbors (aka the Weed guy I've mentioned on here). It was pretty cool to finally meet her (& him) as I remember the day her mom brought her home. Her parents were young (ie teen) parents at the time. She was a fun player + good to have a bit of new "blood" for Monday nights with COVID & the whole pandemic crap.

Also, Monday night Game store magic happened again with my sports teams!! (Go Saints! Go Braves!)

Now, to figure out what the hell I wanna play, next Monday night........ (I know it won't be rogue as one of the guys last night said he'd play that, looking at a martial class).

I think a phrase that fits your situation is "Everything in yer favours against ye", which pretty much means that everything that could go wrong, especially things that you normally rely on, just did. We tend to use it a lot at work!

Definitely will store that one away for future use. Thanks!

Update on Dixie: she's scheduled for surgery in 10 days. She has a mass cell tumor on her chest that they are currently classifying as stage 2, but won't know for certain until it has been removed and pathologized... or whatever the verb form of pathology is. 80% of stage 2 cases have not spread to other parts of the body, so we are having our fingers crossed for Dixie. We'll know more in a few weeks. For now, it's time to cuddle her and make her feel loved... while still taking care of Molly... and Dad...

Dad gets his full cast put on in two days with the orthopedic specialist, so there's that. Still renders him near useless for a few months, but what's done is done, now to keep everything under control. If he doesn't stop taking wide swings with those crutches he'll end up with a worse break, had to catch him twice last night to keep from pitching forward when he went off-balance. It's almost like having to keep two Molly's under control... except she's a canine, he's a human... the human should know better.

I will be thinking of you!

Let's all hope that Dixie will be clean after he surgery.

And I hope your dad will get the hang of using those crutches so he doesn't hurt himself.

Has your dad's balance been checked out by a doctor?  Or do you think there's another reason he's having trouble?

Had a new twist on my annual corporate ethics training. Apparently they now have some official guidelines on the appropriate development and use of artificial intelligence.

I for one welcome our new electronic overlords.

This should, of course, all be purple...

I haven't watched the Mandalorian yet so didn't know Snow White was in it. Disney asserting it's control over Star Wars I guess. :poke:

Officially feels like October now. Cool and drizzly. First rain we've had in about 3 months and it's barely enough to wet the ground. Just gave me more incentive to stay home. Did some things with the kids but mostly we're in seperate parts of the house each doing our own stuff. Even managed to paint for a bit! Got about an hour before I need to start working on Thanksgiving supper. Wife wanted a Ninja Foodi for her birthday this spring so we're cooking a chicken in it. Should turn out because I've done the recipe before and mostly know how to use it by now. Biggest difference is I think I'll do the stuffing by itself in the oven.

Mary Poppins was in Guardians of the Galaxy pt 2.

Well, he SAID he was Mary Poppins.

Personally, I like hot dogs just about any way they can be prepared.

One of the things I like to do is make hot dog sandwiches on toast - I slice the dogs into rounds and cook them in a skillet with some chopped onion, then put some Swiss cheese down on a piece of light toast, cover it in hot dog rounds, add another slice of Swiss, a layer of the onions, and then another piece of cheese and the top piece of toast. I heat it up in the skillet until the toast gets darker and the cheese gets all melty, then slice em in half with a bit of ketchup on the side to dip them in.

No. No, it shouldn't. Lol. There's about three weeks every spring where damn near every square foot of land with grass growing on it is covered in goose crap...

Looks like my mother's credit card number is on the internet now. But we caught it before big damage was done.

So last week, my mother's Amazon order arrives. All fine and good.

Next day, she receives an email for an Amazon customer survey. This is where internet savvy people pick up on all the clues about the validity of the email. So, not my mom.

  • Sender's email address is nonsense gobbledygook.
  • Link sends to an "Amazon" survey page (no "amazon" in the url adress). But it does have an Amazon logo... with a reversed "z".
  • What luck! You won a MacBook for $2! Just fill in your credit card info (which she did).

It's only by talking about it to one of her sisters during Canadian Thanksgiving that she was made aware that she got scammed.

So she contacted me an hour ago, and we go inspect her credit card account. We find two innocuous purchases in an online game store (about $4 worth). :grr:

Having read about credit card scams here and other places, I know that it was a scammer's test run. No other unexplained large purchases. So I told her to immediately call her bank and cancel that card.

@ManvsMini: All this. ^^^^^

@Cranky Dog---that sucks! I'm very glad you were able to catch it quickly, though.
